ANNOUNCEMENT...Debt reduction contest
We are having a debt reduction challenge contest. If you've been following this thread [ame="http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114769"]2009 Debt reduction total - Frugal Village Forums[/ame] you'll see that our total now sits at $91,472.84 That's the amount of debt that is gone for good since Jan. 1, 2009.
We've averaged $40,000.00 for both Jan. & Feb.
Now we are in March and we are already over $90K.
This contest runs from March 1 - 31st. If we can get our total to $140,000.00 by March 31st, there will be a draw valued at approx. $50.00 (donated by our family). I'm not quite sure what it will be yet, I'll let you all know closer to the date of the draw.
So we have $48,528.00 to get rid of before the 31st of March. I'm really pushing you guys, however I think you can do it. I also know there are those who haven't posted to this thread, so I'm sure we will make it. (I'll also continue with the mini challenges each week.)
Here are the rules:
-you MUST post your total in this thread of the payment/s you make in the month of March. [ame="http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114769"]2009 Debt reduction total - Frugal Village Forums[/ame]
-the amounts MUST be there no later than March 31st, midnight.
Please DO NOT ADD THE TOTALS UP. I will be doing that on a daily basis and if only one person is adding, it makes it simpler to keep track of the total.
Each person who responds giving an amount of what they put towards debt will have their name put into a hat on April 1st. You can post to the thread as often as you want as long as you make a payment. Each time you do, you're name will go into the hat.
Okay everyone, let's go....

Winner selected at random?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Homesteadmama - you rock!! I have been following your other thread, but just haven't gotten my figures together - still having trouble facing the facts.....but a contest.....this just may do it.
Mahalo for putting this together for us!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I'm jumping in also, not because of the reward but because I want to see it in writing. I paid $100.00 on my fiance's dental bill today.
