Open call to join our mod team
In preparation for growth, we are looking for volunteer moderators/content leaders. Ideally, we'd like active members that are willing to be a Frugal Village evangelist. We want mods that will help lead a forum(s), help to report or lock questionable, inappropriate or spam posts and threads and to occasionally help spread the word about the Frugal Village community through social media sharing such as tweeting or retweeting, facebook sharing, stumbling, supporting my blog through comments, or blogging on FV etc. The most important thing is that our moderators are consistent with their availability and participation. I don't have high expectations because this is a volunteer position, but at the same time, if you do choose to help, I do expect some effort in helping to make this community the best it can be.
Responsibilities also include:
--Visit the forums regularly (at least 4 times per week)
--Help answer questions posted in your designated forum. This might mean finding the answer through learning and research.
--Post new topics for discussion. (At least one new thread per day when you visit per forum you are moderating or revisiting older topics with a fresh take)
--Move posts to other forums that might be more relevant elsewhere. This is especially a problem in the general chat forum.
--Report or soft delete spam.
--Offer ideas on new features or improvement and feedback on existing features.
--Familiarize yourself with our editorial calendar, so you know the direction we're heading.
Moderators should be longstanding or active members of the community. Since you will sometimes have information about our business that has not yet been made public, we ask that you are not already a moderator on a similar forum. We want your loyalties to lie with Frugal Village and not be split between forums of a similar nature. Because what would be the sense in that? To clarify, if you're a moderator of a forum on politics, it's not a problem.
You should be familiar with our terms of service so that you can successfully help to enforce them. Please don't respond unless you're willing to make the committment to give this community the attention it needs. It's common for people to want to help and be enthusiastic and then lose steam, so please consider whether or not you want to help longterm. We prefer people that have a good working knowledge in specific forum categories in order to best lead those topics, but if you're not, it's not a deal breaker. Many forum categories don't require extensive knowledge.
Basically, the right people to join our team have already demonstrated some of the traits required and will feel confident contacting us and are ready to take a step up to being an even greater part of the community. In a nutshell, you want to be a part of what makes FV a wonderful place on the net and want to support our vision for its continued success. In other words, you love the place and want to help shape it for the future.
Contact me via private message or e-mail if you're interested and let me know what forum(s) topic you're interested in leading and any ideas you have on how you plan to go about doing it.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. It's internationally syndicated through Universal Uclick. Thank you for supporting Frugal Village.

Mahalo Sara - what a great opportunity. Really appreciate how well you presented this - very clear!!

Well I do spend enough time here......
So what forums are you guys doing? I think the food and challenges would be cool. Maybe some vegetarian green subjects, but you are great with all that green talk that I'm bad about doing.
I wanna be the one that moves all of the wrong topics posted in the general chat to the right forums. Drives me nuts.

We have over 200 forums. We got by okay with 26-30 moderators 5 years ago. I'd like to kick it up and get this forum back in shape.

I would like to be considered for the homesteading forum if that is still open. Thanks.
