Today at the home depot we could take the kids to build something, they got an apron and pin and the project they made. Then after lunch we heard on the radio about a grand opening of a business offering free icecream to children under 12. So we took the kids there to get free ice cream and went to the park later. Kids LOVED it!!

Don't you just love it when you find great things to keep the kids happy that don't cost a thing? Great, frugal day you had!

And you all get to keep the memories which are priceless. That's what the kids will remember, the fun with their family.

Don't you love it? We had the same kind of day today. We came up to Winnipeg from Fargo so my DH could run the marathon on Father's day. We had heard that the Royal Canadian Mint had a good tour, but they were not giving tours this weekend because they were hosting a coin show. We had the best time, taking a self-guided tour, and then DS, who is almost 11, had a great time looking at the coins at the show and talking with the collectors. They were so nice to him, and he ended up getting several coins for free from the dealers! The only thing we spent money on was a $2 commemorative coin and $13 for lunch from the hot dog vendor outside. It was a great day, and a frugal one at that.

What a fun day :) I always forget that Home Depot has workshops like that, so thanks for the reminder.

I'd love to hear about what the kids made too :)

They made a cute flag holder and a flag to go in it, for Canada Day coming up. They loved the fact that they got to glue and hammer etc "all by themselves" with a little help from mommy of course ;) They do it the 2nd Saturday of each month, we're going to go as much as possible. The kids thought it was great. The ice cream part worked out great too because the kids have been asking to go out for icecream for a long time & me trying to be frugal lol kept saying no. They looked shocked when I said if you eat all your lunch mommy's taking you for ice cream LOL :)
