I enjoy antique kitchenware too and really like to see 50's stuff. I also love to look through old Valentines. I just find it fun. Sara Sara Noel 12-12-2002, 04:18 PM I didn't get a chance yesterday to tell you how beautiful that buffet is. Sara Lori Biever-Launder 12-12-2002, 06:06 PM I like anything old too. My house was built in 1901 so older things look more appropriate in it! When we moved in, we had a Danish Modern dining set. I tried ot put it in the dining room but it looked waaay too weird. I sold it to a friend and used the cash towards a new "old style" set. We have old glassware, china and crystal as well as some of our furniture. Most of our furniture is vintage (as well as "early matrimonial" style:toothy: ) but we do have a few newer pieces as well. Our living room couches are Danish too (dark blue leather) but they actually blend in quite nicely! COUNTRYBUMPKIN 12-14-2002, 04:20 PM Awwww thanks Sara. And thanks for putting it up for me.:) MJsLady 12-14-2002, 05:00 PM I love mostly old dishes. Red handled utensils since my offset color in my kitchen is red. I am searching for the old blue currier and ives dishes now, pattern the old grist mill, they are from the 50s My mom had a huge set which i wihs I had gotten. So now I m haunting shops looking for some! heaven 12-14-2002, 10:41 PM countrybumpkin, that is beautiful thanks so much for sharing it with us!!!!!!!! I have cup/saucer hanger things on the wall that are already filled. I need to find more cute antique displays so I can keep adding to my collection! summercat 12-16-2002, 06:05 PM I love these glass lamps that were on my granmothers dresser which I have inherited both {the lamps & dresser} when she passed away. I also have a pillowcase my great grandmother made & some of her jewelry. Old photos are another of my favorite, I inherited pictures of some of my gg ancestors. Carly 12-27-2002, 09:18 PM Definitely furniture! Did you have to redo it or was it perfect shape? I've recently gotten hooked on watching that antique show on tv, lol. I'm not a collector yet nor have I decided what we would collect but I love to look. COUNTRYBUMPKIN 12-28-2002, 03:06 PM Thanks for the compliments on the buffet ladies.:) Learning, when we got it from my mil's antique shoppe, she had refinished it . The only thing we had to do was to transport it back to Michigan from PA. We managed to get it home in a rented U-Haul. Patchworkgirl 12-28-2002, 05:27 PM I'm a sucker for anything old. I'd rather have antiques than anything new. guest2 12-29-2002, 07:38 PM :) I love antiques of all sorts! I used to dabble in selling antiques and the hardest part was having to sell all those treasures that I found. LOL! We have vintage linens, beautiful old china in many patterns, assorted silver and pewter items, furniture, kitchenware (one of my sons collects rolling pins) and my absolute favorite...the souvenier spoon collection that my great grandmother started as a child in the late 1800's. I have added to that collection over the years with vintage pieces and some newer spoons to commemorate family trips. Oh, I forgot books! I collect vintage cookbooks, school books and children's books. We still use the old spellers and grammar books today because they are so well written.:D jet1960 01-10-2003, 01:35 PM Love old things! Collect pottery vases/planters, red-handled kitchen utensils, old linens, and look for other antique stuff that I just like. I have 2 partial sets of dishes that were my grandmothers which I plan to pass on to my 2 dd's, so I look for additional pieces for those 2 sets. I am a collector(aka packrat) since childhood. Used to collect bottles and stamps, still have those, and interesting rocks. I really need to get a handle on myself I guess! Jill graci42 01-12-2003, 08:21 PM I have 68 antique books. The oldest dates back to 1859. Everytime I pick one up I feel a wonderment. Who held them before me? What did they think as they turned each page? What did they learn from the yellowed leaves? I recently gave a dear friend a book of poetry from the early 1900's. I gave it to her because my friend is a wonderful poet who shared common strengths and interests with the author. I plan on matching up a few more books with like people. I love these books, but I can't take them with me and I'd like to know that others have found enjoyement from them, too. Graci Dedlered 01-13-2003, 11:31 AM I love old furniture. I have my grandmothers 1920's secretary with bookcase hutch. My most prized possession Miss Kitty 01-13-2003, 11:45 AM I love antique crockery, the pastel stoneware bowls. I also collect the large green canning jars with the zinc lids. I fill them with the old wooden clothespins and wooden thread spools (hard to find!). |
