We are considering buying a freezer for extra storage. I'd like to get one so I can do more OAMC/batch cooking. Any suggestions of what to look for/what to avoid/size recommendations, etc?

Thanks!

Michelle, were in the same boat. I'm looking at getting another one too once dh is working again, but not sure what size to get. We do have a 15 cu ft one now but there just isn't enough room.

I might look at getting a stand up one this time, where it doesn't take up so much room. I love my freezer, but it does take a lot of room that I really don't have in our porch.

I saw an advertisement for one that opened on the top and the bottom half was a drawer. That would be wonderful. I hate digging to the bottom of mine for that last pack of hotdogs.

We have one, not sure what size it is but a good size..
We have an upright adn that is what I owuld suggest with the chest freezer things can get lost at the botton with an upright it is easier to see things.
I would also get the biggest one you can afford..

I have two one upright and one chest, for me this is the best of both worlds, I put my meat and long term storage items in the chest and use the upright for everything else.
If I had to choose though it would definately be my upright.
If I only gave one piece of advice it would be, buy one slightly bigger than you need, seems like however much space i have it is never enough LOL!!

I'm not sure what cubic feet mine is.It's a good size freezer but it stays full.I wish I had larger one. If I ever had to buy another,I'd get the biggest upright freezer I could find.As the others said,I HATE digging around in there to find something!

One more thing.... I'm not sure if most today are frost free or not but I would most definetly get a frost free. The one I have belonged to DH's mom and it's not frost free (it's old)....what a pain in the a$$ to defrost!!!
