View Full Version : Do you have an aquarium?
Mommy2Tyler 12-16-2002, 12:26 PM Aquariums are very relaxing, I think.
I want to set up one for Tyler when we get back home... he loves "fishies". :)
Do you have one? How big is it? Fresh or salt water? What kind of fish do you have in it?
mylittle4 12-16-2002, 12:36 PM We have a tarantula in ours!
Mommy2Tyler 12-16-2002, 12:44 PM Well now... that doesn't seem very relaxing to me!
heaven 12-16-2002, 12:46 PM we have a 55 gallon, with 2 big oscars in it,(they were not big when we got them they have grown.) fresh water, and one of them bit myriah last night, get gold fish or bettas or angels or something nice and sweet.
Sara Noel 12-16-2002, 12:53 PM We have a fresh water aquarium. It's a 30 something gallon. This is a great size for us. If it was smaller, I think Zachary would have terrorized the fish.We got it last year and I really enjoy having ours.
We currently only have about 6 fish. (all community fish)

dz_blonde_girl 12-17-2002, 09:12 AM We have differet colored Mollies in our 55 gallon tank. They are easy to take care of and have lots of babies.
mustang80 12-17-2002, 09:23 AM DD has a small 5 gallon tank in her room with 3 neon tetras and one algae eater. They are almost a year old! She loves the fish tank. We may get a couple more fish for it.
Jerseygirl 12-17-2002, 10:17 PM Our is 30 gallons and has one aquatic turtle-Ricky- in it. Salt water tanks are much more expensive to keep up and need a lot more work--start with easy and cheap with fresh water and a couple of gold fish!
justjenn 12-17-2002, 10:19 PM We have 3 fish tanks. Dh loves them, but I'm not much for them.

Michelle 12-17-2002, 10:37 PM I have always wanted a small salt water tank. The fish are so beautiful. I've heard they are more work than fresh water, though, and we couldn't keep up with our fresh water as it was. We used to have a 55 gallon tank with jewel cichlids (sp?)...it was taking up way too much of Dave's time though, so we got rid of the fish when we had Kathryn.
Now we have a koi fish pond in our basement that we're planning to move into the back yard next summer. :)
tunasalad 12-17-2002, 10:56 PM We have a huge tank full of turtles. We have had fish, newts, tadpoles/frogs, bass(yes the ones you go fishing for), snakes, iguanas, crawdads, tarantulas.....just about everything at one point or another. My son is the local nature boy.
jettsmom 12-18-2002, 12:12 PM We have a 55gal with African cichlids now. Last year, we had salt water, but we had a bad ice storm and power was out for several hours. There was way too much money in that take to lose so we made a few trades with the local fish store and went to fresh water. We may go back to salt next year, but no live rock, just fish. My son has two tanks in his room, one has two turtles and the other has a soft shell turtle.
The tanks are very relaxing. I used to turn off the lights and and just space out while looking at the tank. It's great.
QuilterMom 12-18-2002, 12:49 PM I have thought about this often, but we've never gotten one.
Kate117 12-21-2002, 12:29 PM We have a small tank with several different kinds of sharks.
mrscornbread 12-21-2002, 12:33 PM I made one of those water gardens in the vases that are so popular at Wlmart, you know the ones with the Peace lillies and the Beta Fish in them. So yes, technically, now I do have an aquarium.
bamamomto4 12-21-2002, 01:56 PM We had one years ago.Ashley was about 3.I was cleaning house and she took a little play cup and emptied almost ALL the water out ON THE CARPET!! The fish had about 2 inches of water left.
I was sooo mad and had just cleaned it out.I threw the whole thing out my front door~fish and all! LMAO!!
Steve came home and seen dead fish, glass, and rocks all over the front steps!
I haven't been brave enough to get another since!
My sister has a 150 or 200 gal Salt water tank. They're very expensive to keep up.She said she had over $500 in the tank and all...and thats was just to get it set up.It's pretty...in fact gorgeous but thats to much money for me to spend on a tank!
I think one rock she has cost over $100
