How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
Why you want to make some changes
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I'll start....
I feel horrible about my current weight and eating habits. Many may argue that I just gave birth, but imo that is "no excuse". I am currently bf'ing so am looking for just a healthier approach to my meal planning and to cut out the sweets and increase my exercise. I want to make some changes because I don't feel as good about myself as I have in the past. I'm feeling older and even frumpy. I want to feel an increase in energy too. My overall goal is to fit in a closet full of clothes. My main problem area is grabbing high calorie snacks vs. low cal ones.
Will add more later.

MJsLady 12-26-2002, 08:49 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
Horrible! I see my reflection in the windows when shopping, and i think "How did I do this???"
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My trouble is high carbs! I love potatos and corn (as a meal!) My goal is to up my dairy and protein intake
Why you want to make some changes
I want t make changes because I am tired of being sluggish all the time! I used to be a go getter and I want that back!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My goal is to get down to 115 lbs and gain stamina and zest for life like I had BK (before kids)
I am hoping by this time next year to have met my goals. I do not plan to buy new clothes, just alter the ones I have now.
babynurse 12-26-2002, 08:55 PM Sign me up, sisters! I am ready to make some positive changes in my life! I am at the highest weight I have ever been, after having lost 20lbs right before I was supposed to get married in the fall...I have gained that 20lbs plus another 10 or so. I am accepting that I needed to eat to ease the pain...but I am choosing now to deal with my emotions in a healthier way...hopefully that will lead to heathier eating and more exercise...and weight loss! My biggest problem is that I eat out at fast food restaurants too much (which is costing me too much too) and I eat when I am upset! My overall goal is to lose 50 lbs over six months to a year, exercise at least 4 days a week and fit into the beautiful clothes in my closet I haven't worn in 5 years.
heaven 12-26-2002, 08:58 PM I am in too, God knows i need it.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
My avatar said it all doesn't it, I just need to lose so much weight, I am so not happy with the way i look
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I was just thinking about this last night, I didn't realize that i eat way more than i thought i did. i start supper with so much on my plate but then turkey ran out and i still had stuffing so i had to add more turkey, and then more gravy, and on and on. and i love chips they are a major downfall for me. Today i found that i was out of sorts to say the least and I am totally pigging out, then i thought okay i will just eat this and then get on with life, but now it is supper time and i am ready to pig out more. Soda is a major thing too i drink way to much mountain dew.
Why you want to make some changes
there are so many reasons, we all know that i just finished with the dentist and i have a great smile but now i want a great figure to go with it. i need more energy and i am not going to get it looking like this, also i want to start a new life now IDAH is gone and i can't do that feeling like this.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I need to start drinking more water and less soda. I want to be back to my weight i was in maine when I felt really good about me. It has been way too long. and i need something new to go with this smile. LOL
:D :D :D :D

How do I feel about my current weight - I feel lousy about it. When I look in the mirror, it tells me what I need to do about it!!
How do I feel about my eating habits - not great. My downfall is snacking. I snack when I'm discouraged, upset or not happy!!
Why do you want to make some changes - So that I can look good, have more energy and be much healthier. I want to do it for ME.
My ultimate goal is to get down to around 140 lbs, to drink more water and to learn to enjoy excersising.
Thanks Sara for starting this up!!

How do I feel about my current weight?
Not good at all. I hate the way I look and the way my clothes fit. I also hate the way I feel physically.
How do I feel about my eating habits?
I've had terrible eating habits since my mom died when I was 10. I desperately need to learn to eat healthy and leave the junk food alone.
Why do you want to make some changes?
For my health, to get PCOS under control hopefully, to prevent diabetes, to get some of this weight off my arthritic bones especially my back. Also for my self-esteem.
My ultimate goal is to be between 145 and 155 pounds. To eat healthy. I have a long way to go.
simplemom 12-26-2002, 10:05 PM I'm joining the *Live for life* program with you!:) Thanks Sara for starting this!
1-How I feel about my current weight?
I feel very heavy and discouraged to see all the weight I carry around on myself.
2-How do I feel about my eating habits?
I know I am not nourishing myself. I don't even like what I am stuffing my body with. I know I have a problem with emotions and eating. I eat when I feel stressed out(which happens daily) and I eat when I feel sad, mad and bored with my life. It makes me mad to know I have this problem. I feel addicted to food...
3-Why I want to make some changes?
I *want* to make the changes, but I know alone I have alot of difficulties. I want to change and become the *Lucie* who used to have so much energy and so much less weight, 5 years ago...I want to feel great and not tired all the time. I don't want to be out of breath walking *down* the stairs. I don't want to have soar ankles, knees and back. Mostly, I want to change for good, becuase I am borderline diabetic and I feel like I'm in a rollercoaster ride everyday.
4- What are your goals?
My goal is long term. I want to make peace with myself and food, to be able to care for myself like I deserve it. This way, I hope I will more easily be motivated to eat the foods that make me feel full of life. I also want to start walking again, like I used to. I also want to decrease my sugar intake.
Lucie :)
Leiloni77 12-26-2002, 10:07 PM I would like to sign up too.
I have tried so many things in the past, but I have noticed that each way had something in common. I was doing it all alone. Now I know that I was the only one shoveling food into my face, and that it took a long time to put on, but it would be so much better to have people around to cheer me on or console me if needed.
How do you feel about your current weight?
Well, not great. I have been looking at my body and noticing areas that didn't used to be flabby and now they are. I feel out of shape too. I live in a third floor apartment and some days feel winded when I reach my house!
How do I feel about my eating habits?
Well, my parents weren't very strict on what my brother and I ate. We were both active and didn't gain weight. Well, over the years with puberty and my own mother passing away too, I didn't feel the want to be active. I also want to learn to eat healthy.
Why do I want to make changes?
For health reasons and be able to prove to everyone including myself that it can be done.
My longterm goal is to be at 145 or a size 9/10. I think I would be happy with that. I also want to get down to a low enough weight so that my insurance will cover a breast reduction.
TheCottageRose 12-26-2002, 10:17 PM Hubby just walked in and I may need to come back and edit this a bit in order to include the info.
I need to weigh about 140-150...I'm tall.
I am tired of dragging my weight around with me....and I feel like i can do this.
never2late2bfrugal 12-26-2002, 11:09 PM I am in!!
1. I really don't like the way I look or feel. I am happy and perky on the inside -- but frumpy and old on the outside.
2. I eat way too much junk food. When I eat a real meal, it usually consists of potatoes, corn, and bread. Very little meat or real vegetables.
3. I have arthritis in my joints and the pain will get worse as I age.
4. I want to lose 50 pounds this coming year. It is certainly achievable -- just a touch over 4 lbs per month.

~how do I feel about my current weight-:puke:
~how do I feel about my eating habits-I know what I need to do but for whatever reason I don't!! I am not a horrible eater but I could do so much better than I do!!
~why I want to make changes-several reasons... I want to be healthier and enjoy life. I want to set a good example for my children, I have a 15 year old dd that is dealing with body image issues right now and I want her to be educated about eating right and exercising!!
~long term goals-I would like to get back down to where I was before kids. I am only 5'3 so I can't carry much weight around without looking like a weeble who wobbles!!! I weighed 101 when dh and I got married, I don't think that is something I could do now but I would like to get down as close to that as I can!! And to be totally honest it isn't so much about the number but more about me feeling better. I am tired of being tired and I am tired of sitting and watching everyone else have fun, I want to jump in and participate and live life and have fun with my kids!!!!!!!
mrscornbread 12-27-2002, 12:04 AM I'm in too. I was on the Atkins and still plan to do so, there was just too much hard work and temptation for holidays. I'm still okay and will start back January 2.

How I feel about my eating habits~
I know that I have a stong will power. I am sure of that. I love chocolate and it is the root of all evil for me. I also love carbs, potatoes, BREAD, and fast food.
Reasons I want to make changes~
There are many #1 most important I want to like what I see in pictures and the mirror, I owe tat to myself. Also, my dd#2 is grauating in June and I would love to love great on that day. More- I am going to school to fulfill a dream to beome a teaher and how the hek am I gonna keep up with 20-35 kids on a daily basis as fat as I am?
January 2, 2003 I am bak on Atkins full force. For anyone that wants to try it I have the books and will share info. I lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks, but more than that I had energy I never knew I had and wasn't even drinking caffeine. I'm planning on being a healthy elementary teaching quilter soon...very soon

How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I have cut down on pastas...and working on cutting out the sweets and the pop...I know what needs to be done to get to healthy eating it's just getting to there that I'm having trouble with.
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be able to go to the closet and be happy with the first thing I put on. I want to be able to chase my ds around the playground without getting breathless and having to sit down...
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My goal is to lose the weight I gained during my 1st pregnancy and keep it off. I would like to be a 10 or even a 12 but I'd be happy being back at a 14.
frugalmel 12-27-2002, 12:37 AM I would like to join also. I don't have a lot to lose, about 10-12lbs, but I have a family history of high blood pressure/heart attacks to look forward to. :( I used to have a high metabolism and could eat everything and not gain a pound. After having kids that is history!
1.current weight/appearance- Don't like it
2.eating habits/problem areas- I like food. I like to eat and have no sense of portion control:(
3.why I want to change- To fit my clothes, feel better/more energy, teach my kids to eat healthy.
4. goal-long term goal. I want to make permanent changes
PennyPinchinPam 12-27-2002, 02:14 AM Count me in and tonight before I even checked in here I decided to start back on my eating plan tomorrow. I recently lost 25 pounds but decided in Aug to take a break til after Christmas. Well it's after Christmas and I've gained back 10 pounds! UGH!!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
UGH! :( Nuff said.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I can drink up to 6 Dr. Peppers a day. Not anymore, it's water or unsweetened tea now. My eating plan involves lots of fresh fruit and veggies, meats, cheeses and avoiding any sugars and flours.
Why you want to make some changes
For my health. I want to be around to see my kids grow up and have kids of their own. :)
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
To get to a weight where I feel healthy and happy. I don't want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy. :)
Sara you couldn't have picked a better day to post this. Thank you. :) I am also starting to walk 2 miles a day at least 3 times a week starting tomorrow too. I can do this I just dropped 25 pounds over the summer. The next three days will be tough as I detox my body from all the crap I've been eating and drinking. But I know on by day 3 or 4 I'll feel so clean and healthy. :)
Let's go girls!!! :)
cinnamon 12-27-2002, 03:12 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?

I love to cook and bake, and I can't cook and then not partake. I need to drink more water and cut back on the sweets.
Why you want to make some changes?
To be healthier and be a good example to my girls.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Another 15 or 20 pound loss to reach my goal by summer. My cholesterol level is borderline high, so I'd like to see that come down, too.

I need to stop eating for comfort and EXERCISE.
Why you want to make some changes
~So I can feel good about me again and be active & healthy
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
~I want to go to my Dds graduation looking and feeling like a Mom she can be proud of. Not that she doesn't love me, it's just the way I feel about myself.Crying as I type this...:(
cody15650 12-27-2002, 12:43 PM yes I want to do this!
I need to lose some weight & feel good about myself. I also need to lose some weight for health reasons too.
It's hard not to buy some goodies when the kids ask you for them, then I want to eat some too.:(
I have no energy for anything. When I come home from work I don't want to do anything even though I know I have too. I do get somethings done, but it's like a force thing. I want to come home & just do it & feel good. The older I get I know it's even going to be harder.
I would like to lose at least 40-50lbs.:paw:
AmyBoz 12-27-2002, 01:13 PM I am totally in!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
-My weight isn't really the issue for me. I'm at a healthy weight for my height, it's just that I don't feel toned. I really would like to have a more toned body. Right now, everythings just a bit flabby.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
-I really need to work on finding some quick, cheap, low carb dinners. Dh has been exercising and dieting since he turned 30, in October, and has lost 20 pounds. I know that he could lose more if I quit cooking so much pasta. However, it's the cheapest and quickest meal to cook when I get home from work. So, I gotta find some carb-less meals to make. As for my eating habits, they aren't horrible, however, if there are sweets out at work, I'm eating them. At home, it's fine, but at work, I feel like when I'm not teaching, I'm eating. I also want to start drinking more water. I used to be great about 8 glasses a day, but fell off the wagon. As for my problem areas, let's just say that I don't appreciate it when I'm running up the stairs, and I can physically feel my butt following me!
Why you want to make some changes?
-I know 31 isn't old, but I'll be 31 in January and this is about the age when everyone always says that "it'll catch up with you." So, I want to be exercising and healthy so it doesn't catch up with me. Also, dh and I are going to start ttc'ing for kid #2 and I want to be as healthy as possible for the pregnancy.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
-I think that my overall goal is to drink 8 glasses of water a day, at least 5 days out of the week and to exercise at least 3 times a week. As I said, weight loss isn't a goal, but I can be held accountable by you guys for drinking the water and doing the exercise.
Mom23boys 12-27-2002, 01:24 PM Please sign me up as well! I need to make some changes with my eating habits as well.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Terrible! I am down on myself all the time. I did so good for so long and then about 2 years ago, I gained 25 pounds that I want back off of me!!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I eat when I am depressed or stressed. I need to stop eating for comfort.
Why you want to make some changes?
For myself! I want to feel good about myself again. Plus high cholesterol and heart disease run in my family and I am a candidate for both and that scares me. My sister has both already and she is only 3 1/2 years older than me.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Mine will be long term. I want to lose 25 pounds and keep it off! I want to continue to take care of myself. There is only one life to live and I want to live it happy and healthy.
I really need support from others because I lack motivation to get up and move.
Michelle 12-27-2002, 02:34 PM Sign me up please :)...
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
Horrible...all my life up until I had children I was underweight. Now I am about 15 lbs overweight. I want to lose 20-25 though.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits are horrilble. I hate having to prepare fruits and vegetables--I'd rather just grab something pre-made for a snack. I have a hard time eating nutritionally, too, because I am lactose intolerant and can never find good tasting and affordable recipes to make that not only I will enjoy but that everyone else here will eat too.
Why you want to make some changes? I know that this lifestyle is not good for me physically or emotionally, and I want my children to know how to eat the healthy way. Also, I'm tired of worrying about what to wear that will fit and look good.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term. Short term goal is to lose 25 lbs. Long term is to keep it off via diet and exercise and adopt a healthy lifestyle and not view it soley as a diet.

Definately long term, once I get it off I never want it back!
judith 12-27-2002, 04:40 PM Hi. My name is Judith, {duh, I know} My current weight is 183.4 {a loss of 10 lbs since August} I'm looking to lose another 39 lbs...
Answers to the questions...
I feel horrid about my weight and my inability to maintain a program. My appearance isn't that bad {so people tell me} but I think it is. I have battle a salt issue my whole life, and I withhold alot of water..
I feel bad about my eating habits. I do so well for long stretches, then I go off and eat at KFC or something, or I buy a box of salt at wal-mart.
I want to change because, and I know this sounds corny, but I believe my husband and kids deserve a better, healthier wife and mom, and I feel I deserve to be healthier for myself, too. I've not been anywhere near my ideal weight since 7th grade {almost 12 years ago} I want to see myself, not all this fat and water...
My goal is to lose the fat, and the water, and keep it off.
Oh, and I'd like to fit into a size 10.... I"m in an 18-20 right now...

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance? - I am still comparing myself to when I was 21. *sigh* That's only 12 years ago, but still!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? - My problem area is my stomach.... the result of a c-section almost 4 years ago. I also need to cut down on the sweets.
Why you want to make some changes? - To be healthier for myself and my family and to like what I physically see when I look in the mirror.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term? - Stop eating so many sweets, exercise and work out more, use weights to tone and sculpt.
judith 12-27-2002, 05:14 PM Quilter Mom: Do you have an indent where your c-sect was? I had one 2 years ago come Feb. and my stomach is indented to the point where it looks like there are 2 halves... {My 3 year old says I have a butt on my tummy, she's SO helpful :( }

How I feel about myself /appearance right now: I feel 90% good about my appearance..I tend to forget to workout an area for a couple weeks and then notice it's gotten flabby/saggy or less toned..
Eatting habits problem areas: I feel like I have a good basic eating habit, but then I have one problem that is embarrassing to even share or admit I have a problem with it..Let's just say I want to kick it to the curb for good!
Why i want to make changes, for the problem i mentioned above.
Short term/long term goals: to keep exercising like I've been doing...stay toned, and get my gluts even more toned and thighs thinner..I would love to get my arms just a little more toned too :D

gotta run , will post more later
PennyPinchinPam 12-27-2002, 09:26 PM grneyegrl,
I have a friend who went through GBS. She could have saved herself alot of money and pain by just eating lo carb. Which is pretty much the way you have to eat for life after GBS. So you may want to research lo-carb before committing to surgery. Just wanted to let you know. :)

My weight has always bothered me, I have tried many times to lose it but it keeps finding me. I am seriously considering the surgery that Al Roker did.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I love sweets, and pizza way too much. I also am always eating on the run with the boys and always on my way to another visit at work...
Why you want to make some changes
So that I can keep up with my kids, and live long enough to see their kids!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
I will have to wait on that one, and let you know later!

CountryMom 12-27-2002, 09:49 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
--I am not at all happy with my current weight.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
--I am a sugar girl to the core. I can eat pounds of it and still keep going. It is not pretty. I also am an emotional eater; every emotion is a cause to overeat. I feel like I need to be in control of food instead of food being in control of me. It is just food after all. I am going to eat more fresh fruits, veggies and meat and drastically lower my refined sugar and flour intake. To jumpstart I am going to start Atkins induction tomorrow. We are leaving for Disney World in 10 days, so I don't know if I will be able to do strict induction for two weeks, but I am going to be pretty darn close. I told my dh that the only thing that will do me in at DW will be the margaritas. :)
Why you want to make some changes
--I want to be a healthy weight. I want to have more energy. My blood pressure is in the high normal/range and I want to lower it to the normal/normal range. I also want to be able to buy clothes in the normal people section of the store.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
--Short term to fit into all of the clothes in my size. Some are getting kinda snug. Long term to weigh what I did when I met my dh.

I've got to get healthy! I'm determine to do so in the upcoming new year. I'm the heaviest I've ever been & in the worst shape I've ever been so I feel & think the worse than I ever have! I had some female problems then I hurt my back so the whole year wasn't very beneficial for me especially when my dh is in awesome shape. I'm not what others call big but feel big for me and as I read some of the above it sounds like I have some persons here that can totally relate with me.
I want to get healthy because I think it will help mentally plus get my body how I want it too and so much more.
This will be Great Program and I love the name! I'm so glad their are others here that I can relate too.
QuilterMom 12-27-2002, 10:15 PM judith - No, I don't have an indention from the c-section.... just what I call a pooch. :(
Labontet 12-27-2002, 10:43 PM How do I feel about my current weight and/or appearance?
Five years ago I went on a low carb/high protein diet (not Atkins). By doing so, I lost 50 pounds in 6 months, and if I say so myself, I think I looked better than I have in many, many years. But as time went by, I gave up the way I was eating and have gained back 20 pounds. Needless to say, I am very, very disappointed in myself.
How do I feel about my eating habits and problem areas?
Very disappointed in how I am eating now. I even find myself "sneaking" bread, etc. when no one is around. Why do I do that?
Why do I want to make some changes?
To get myself back in control of what I am doing and be disciplined in my actions concerning food and exercise. Plus my mother started with heart problems at about the age I am now.
My overall goal:
I want to loose those 20 pounds that I gained back. If I loose an additional 15 pounds in the proces, that would be a "Good Thing" To achieve my goals (be it long or short term) I need to drink 8 glasses of water, at least, a day. I need to eliminate the "White" starches, etc., from my eating plan again. Once I get my eating under control, I need to start exercising at least 3 times a week. To do this, I WILL start using my "Walk Away The Pountds" tapes that I have.
Momtothree 12-27-2002, 11:19 PM I'm new here but I would really like to join if it's ok.:D

Patchworkgirl 12-28-2002, 08:40 AM Count me in on this also! I have a class reunion in 2003 so we are talking full blown emergency here- lol. After 30 years and 3 children I'm about 20 lbs over what I weighed at my graduation. My eating habits have a lot of room for improvement- although I eat a lot of fruit and veggies, I also eat far too much sugar and fat. This worries me the older I get- I do not want to develop diabeties, or high blood pressure, etc. Also, I do not exercise at all, if we are counting cleaning the house. I mean zippo, zilch. So, my goal is to take off the 20 lbs., eat healthier, and also start exercising. A realistic plan for the rest of my life.
PrairieRose 12-28-2002, 09:37 AM Ok I'm gonna jump in here too. I need to lose a gob and had plans to make myself a real priority for 2003.
The way I feel about myself and my goals are as follows:
I HATE to have my picture taken (see...no avatar pic!), I've started to notice huge changes in my body lately being 42 and overweight really accentuates the negative. :( I'm not even going to think yet, about my long range weight loss goals I want to take it 10 lbs. at a time (sorta like eating an elephant, you start at the front and take little bitty bites, IF you know what I mean;) ). I'm going to start exercising in some form everyday, drinking lots more water and really watching every bite that goes into my mouth. I've always been an emotional eater so it's a real problem to work with but I know I can do it. This should be fun girls!
mgory29379 12-28-2002, 06:35 PM Okay count me in too. I had started a weight loss plan and quit with the holidays. But plan on starting it back with the new year.
I hate my current weight. I was anorexic in high school and was a lot thinner. But everyone said how terrible I looked. Now I am over eating. From one extreme to the next. I want to lose some weight to make myself feel better and have a healthier life.
I would like to join.
How do I feel about my current weight and/or appearance?
I am not happy about it. I lost 60 lbs last year with Weight Watchers and have gained 20 lbs back.
How do I feel about my eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits have been horrible. All I want to do is eat all the time. I have a problem with control when it comes to food.
Why do I want to make some changes?
So that I will be healthier for myself and my family.
My overall goal whether its short term or long term.
It is to lose 20 lbs, to be happier with myself, and to be healthier.
grneyegrl 12-28-2002, 11:16 PM loving mama,, thanks for the tip.. im putting surg off until fall because i think i can lose weight without it..i have already gotten into a pair of jeans i couldn't close just 6 months ago. and i have cut back on carbs.
PennyPinchinPam 12-29-2002, 03:48 PM WTG grneyegrl!! :D I wish you all the best. :) I'm back on my plan as of Friday and I feel better already. :)
Tater 12-29-2002, 06:00 PM Count me in!!
How I feel about my weight: YUCK!!!! I'm embarrassed by the way I look. I was a size 8 three years ago and now I'm a size 14!!! I'm gonna post my weight, because it will embarrass me enough to actually do something about it. I weigh 176.
Changes I want to make: I want to use my treadmill at least three times per week, eat more fruit and vegetables instead of cookies and chocolate (lol), and loose 8 - 10 pounds per month.
Why? Because I'm fat!! I have a family wedding to attend in May and I would like to look beautiful. I'm going back to work next August (teacher) and would like to be back in my beautiful size 8 clothes. I had so much more energy then and I want it back.
debbiepete 12-30-2002, 10:21 AM Sign me up also Sara, I dont need to loose wieight but I need to start exercising. This is something I hate so its going to be tough.
Dedlered 12-30-2002, 01:21 PM Count me in!!
I am happy with where I am at but would love the company in maintaining it. I have been seeing a personal trainer for about 2 years now and work out 2-3 times a week.
Katybird 12-31-2002, 01:42 AM I would love to join. My new years resolution this year is to lose weight.
1) How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I feel absoutely horrible about my weight and appearance.
2) How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I know that my eating habits are very unhealthy, too much fat, too much sugar, too much food, lol.
3) Why you want to make some changes
I want to be healthier. I also have a total hip prothesis and I know that by losing a large amount of weight I can extend the life of my prothesis. I want to have more energy and feel better about myself.
4) Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My long term goal is to get down to 125-130 pounds. My short term goal is to acheive a weight loss each month and to exercise each day. I have been so heavy that I have not exercised regularly for years and I think that I will feel better once I start an exercise plan.
Thanks for this club, I am feeling more motivation than I have in years. I am excited.
Blessings,
Kathy

I feel abought my wt.....
I don't like how I look or feel.
Eating habits...
I do dine till the kids go to bed and then chow down, I am to tired to do something and not tired enough to go to bed. So I eat(gotta find something to do)
Why do i what to make changes.....
To look and feel better, I want to be the cute skinny mom, not the cute fat mom. I think if I think I look good the sex life will be better too.
My main goal is to get healthy, and that definatly means getting thinner.
nealy 01-03-2003, 02:13 PM I would like to join as well, I am ready to release this extra weight!!!
I don't feel good about my current weight at all. I feel down right frumpy. I have been larger and I have been smaller, I prefer smaller.LOL. My goal is to lose 10 lbs and go from there. My ultimate goal is to lose 20 lbs.
My family is dedicated to eliminating unhealthy foods one at a time. We are starting with dairy. We eat too much cheese and milk, the kids will keep the whole milk for awhile and then we will transition the oldest to soy milk as well. We are cutting out cheddar and american cheeses first. Will still consume lower fat cheeses like feta etc. is small amounts. Then will move on to unhealthy refined carbs and lastly sugar. I guess this will take all year to impliment.
We do have a gym membership which I will utilize twice a week. The other four days I will walk in the mornings with my friend for a total of eight miles a week. Later I will incorporate weight training into my work out.
I too have a closet full of beautiful clothes just waiting for me to put them on,
current weight= 144
goal weight= 134:)

Eating habits, can you say carear snacker.I drink way to many cokes and eat way to many sweets and need to drink more water and veggies, was doing really good awhile back.
Why I want to do this, well cause I feel like crap and I'm also getting really good at being an example to my daughter on how not to take care of yourself and I want her to grow up to respect and love herself enough to take care of herself
My goal is to lose 15 lbs by May and to keep it off for good
CAGmomof2 01-03-2003, 09:53 PM I would like to join this ...
My weight and my appearance are not good right now because of my weight .
I hate having no energy , I hate the way I look. I hat the way I feel.
My Snacking has gotten much better over the course of being taken off the Depo Shot.
My Snacking is ok but it could go a whole lot better.
I would like to snack on more healthy foods than what I usually snack on.
My goal is to be down to 122 lbs on July31st,2005 for the Renewing of our Wedding Vows on our 6th Wedding Anniversary.
So Far I am down to about 180 lbs.
I have a long way to go.
lucy979 01-04-2003, 07:05 AM I would like to join too! I don't need to lose weight just need to eat better and excersize.
How I feel about my appearance: Pretty good, just need to get toned up.
Eating habits: not good: I eat alot of sugar and drink only Dr Pepper, literally
Goals: to get toned and have more energy
mfedor 01-04-2003, 03:38 PM I hope it's not to late to join. Count me in.
I am extremely unhappy with my appearance and weight. I never had a weight problem until I had children (I guess three in four years is bound to do that to you.)
I am working on my eating habits and they have really improved and I just started do the Body for Life challenge. Hopefully this will accelerate the weight loss for me. Now if I could just quit eating after everyone is in bed that would be awesome.
I have 43 lbs left to lose which is much better then the 52 I had to start with. The weight wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't move so much.
I really want to instill a balanced diet in my children. I want them to crave vegetables more then they crave the junk food. In addition, I really want to wear cute clothes. When I finally dump this weight, I swear I will never ever wear a T-shirt with a logo on it again.
tnschaffer 01-13-2003, 10:46 PM Well i have been gone for a while...but here I am again. And now i see this wonderful new thing to do!! Yeah! I need someone to hold me responsible!
I am very unhappy with my wieght..like most others I gained it all from pregnancies. Mostly from my first..80 lbs. and havent lost a bit of it! i feel disgusting and ugly. Also I am just downright uncomfortable! I cant touch my toes anymore...i get out of breath when I walk up a flight of stairs, I mean its just ridiculous!
I want to of course ~look good~, but also be healthy, feel good about myself and teach my girls good eating habits and how to be happy with themselves.
Mybiggest problem is snacking/sweets. I get cravings for choclate that literally make me shake. And I just cant stop once I start. I can down a whole package of Oreos in a day! And even if its making my tumy hurt I just cant stop. it just sickening!
My ultimate goal is to lose 80 lbs. I am being realistic and setting a yearly goal for 50 lbs...hence 1 lb a week. I will not DIET! I WILL change my eating habits permanantly and increase my daily activity level. Whether it be working out at home, doing some sport or what have you.
I want to change my LIFE..and with that the WEIGHT will take a hike!
Daphne 01-16-2003, 12:00 AM I hope I can still join!! :D
Right now I feel ok about my current weight but I feel I could loose maybe 5 to 10 pounds. I really need to tone up!! My eating habits are the pits!! I love fast food ( I have gotten better about this) but we cook big meals which makes me think I have to eat big!! I eat a lot of carbs and I know I need to slow down on that. I really want to have more energy and just look healthier and I think the way I'll get there is to start eating better and in moderation and drink lots and lots of water!!!!!!!!
mema2dandk 01-19-2003, 03:28 AM is it to late to join? i am fat, i know i am fat. i hate to take pictures because i look so bad. i snack alot, on all the wrong foods, i eat way to much, and excersise? what is that. lol i need to change my life style because i want to be around a long time for my grandbabies. i need to get down to about 140-150. that is about 80 pounds.
Belinda 01-20-2003, 06:27 PM I'd like to join too. I love this idea, and the accountability (posting) will help me a lot. I rejoined (keyword:rejoined;) ) Weight Watcher's last week, and my first weigh-in is tomorrow. My goal is to lose 46 pounds by December of this year, when I turn the big 4-0. I've got my Walk Away the Pounds tapes and my Pointsfinder ready, and I am optimistic that I can reach that goal or be very close to it by my birthday.
My body image is okay as long as I am dressed, cause then I have everything lycra'd into place:D. All joking aside, I'm a big-boned girl and am 5'6" and carry my weight well. People are always telling me that I look fine, but I know better.
Just like a lot of you have said, I really snack too much and on the wrong kinds of foods. I especially have a weakness for ice cream, it is definitely a red-light food for me. I also don't like to exercise. The only class I flunked in school was (you guessed it) gym. So I guess I need to get control of my snacking and exercise more.
Missy 01-21-2003, 12:08 AM please sign me up too!
answers to questions...~How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance~ well, lets just say my avatar pic isn't as recent as i'd like, lol it is pre kids! (I am still recovering from my second c section that isn't healing as it should)And it isnt from mid body down either.... ~Why you want to make some changes~ I want to be a healthy role model for my son and daughter, they are very young, but I still wnat to begin now! :) ~Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term~ I want to get the weight off and keep it off, fell better within myself and be a positive healthy mom. :) I snack, but have gotten better at it, and i have begun yoga (as a new years resolution) which so far I am enjoying...but yoga from tv, not in a gym. But I need to get onto a routine with it. I run around all day after the kids...3 yr old ds and a 10 mo dd, lol, does that count?? ;) hope it is not too late to join! :)
~Sherry~ 01-23-2003, 11:02 AM Ok... sign me up. I am starting today. :)
*How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance...
I feel very bogged down... I feel I don't have the energy I used to have. I feel very unhealthy and not very attractive.
*How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas...
I tend to eat alot during a meal. I also get hungry late at night and have been known to have another meal then.
I drink too much pop.
*Why you want to make some changes...
I want to have more energy and be able to do more things with Tyler this summer. I just want to feel better about myself... and actually enjoy shopping for clothes rather than get depressed.
*Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term...
I want to eat healthier... and work on getting more excercise. I would like to lose 40 pounds or so eventually.
I have decided to try the Slim Fast thing starting today... this may or may not work for me. Also work on drinking tons of water. I am limiting myself to 1 pop per day. Trying to avoid snacking and eating late at night, even if I am hungry.
Ellise 01-31-2003, 12:49 AM Count me in as well,

Final goal- to be a healthy size 12 I'm 5'8" and have big bones so that should be about right. at this point I'm a 16 can't handle the excess anymore!!
Karla 01-31-2003, 03:13 AM I'd like to join in as well.
How do I feel about my weight, its not good I'm more overweight than I'd like, I do not look or feel good about my self, I also hate to exercise but my dh did buy me a treadmill and I use it daily and cant believe how badly out of shape I am, I'm lucky to go 10 min at a time and I used to years ago walk 4 mi a nite in 1hr.
Eating habits are not good, I can go all day with out eating but will eat all nite..not literaly but will snack at midnite.
MY overall goal is to loose 80lbs but I want to loose it slow enough that it stay's off forever.
But mostly I want to be healthy and look nice, My dd is getting married in Mar and I'm going to be a fat-mother of the bride.:(
drivette 02-05-2003, 09:45 AM Please sign me up! I have lost most of my goal weight, but would like to lose about 10-15 more. I am feeling way better about my appearance, but need to tone and shape A LOT! Potatoes and ice cream are my worst enimies (and sometimes best friends). My schedule is hectic, so grabbing fast unhealthy items happens without much thought. I am 51 years old, so now is the time!
Megareader 02-05-2003, 10:17 PM Ok, I'm going to stop just reading the threads here and join in. I have about 40 pounds to get rid of. I feel sluggish and look like a cow, time to change all that!!

Heather 02-17-2003, 03:03 PM Ok, I am finally going to do this, I have been lurking here for awhile now and I just have to jump in and do it!! I have had to lose weight for years now and figure, I'll get around to it, being busy with children etc....but something happened in my life last year that is slowly making me wake up and realize that I am good to no one unless I take care of myself. I used to love wearing beautiful clothes, feeling good about myself, having lots of energy and so on and lately I don't feel like that. I am 37 now and am also realizing that I am not getting any younger ;) , I want to stop wasting my life and start living it the way I want and should. I want to do more things with my children, I want to never have to 2nd guess anything because of my weight. The two main areas are of course exercise and healthy eating....it is the exercise that I really have to work on!! I have an exercise bike and am slowly getting back to that. Snacking is my biggest problem as far as bad habits go. My goal weight is 140 lbs. and I have a long way to go and I really hope this is going to make me accountable. Thanks for letting me join!:smball:
Mommyof2lildivas 02-18-2003, 02:48 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Mmmm...I'm a walking double chin. That should sum it up. I take care of my outer appearance, but all I see is the weight. I won't feel better until I lose the weight.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? My problem areas are soda, chocolate, and carbs. I've given up soda almost completely and replaced it with water. Chocolate has been harder for me, but I'm taking it day by day. The carbs are almost completely out of my system.
Why you want to make some changes? To be more healthy and to feel better about myself.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
My long term goal is to lose 100 lbs.
ilyvm2 02-25-2003, 01:23 PM I would like to join too!
I really don't like to way I look and totally avoid looking in the mirror especially when getting dressed! All I do is think about food and what I am going to eat. I really need some help!!!
halo475 04-10-2003, 04:10 PM Sign me up too please!! I began my journey to a healthier me yesterday and am looking for someone I can whine too!! LOL
*How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Horrible!! I started gaining weight when I was pregnant with my first dd and have never lost it (she is almost 16!!)
*How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits are horrible-While I do try to eat healthy, I am going about it in the wrong way IMHO. I don't eat until lunch time, but from then until I go to bed, I snack constantly. When I am "being good" and eat breakfast, I do much better. I also need to add more fruits and veggies to my diet and stay away from bread products!! I am an emotional eater as well.
*Why you want to make some changes?
I want to live longer. I feel horrible. I have no energy and get winded doing one flight of stairs. I do no excercise at all other than general house cleaning. I also feel that my relationship with my family is harmed by the way I perceive myself.
*Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
My overall goal is lifelong healthier eating.
coupqn1999 04-17-2003, 09:53 PM Hello all!!! PLEASE sign me up too. I started weight watchers a few weeks back but only followed the plan for 2 weeks and decided that just eating better was enough.I have not weighed myself but have an idea of what I weigh since it hasn't changed since giving birth to DS3 almost 6 yrs ago:( I need to lose at least 60 lbs but more like 75 lbs.EEK  My HS reunion is in October and I wanna be the same size I was at graduation.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
- I feel terrible about what i see in the mirror.I don't think I look as huge as I am until I see pictures or my shadow.WHOLLY COW!!!!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
-I think I eat all the time, happy ,sad, stressed no matter what the feeling I eat.I am doing better I think now but I know I still have room to improve.
Why you want to make some changes
-So that I like me!!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
-LONG TERM its the only way to go.No point in short term changes I'll just gain it all back.
Looking forward to the support of all!!!Thanks
Denise
AmyMCGS 05-30-2003, 10:56 PM Ok, I've already posted my June goals... I guess I should actually join the club now, huh? :D LOL!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
Yuck. I actually weigh less now than before I got pregnant, but I am shocked at how heavy I look in all the baby snapshots we've taken lately. I didn't realize how wide I appear!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I drink entirely too much Mountain Dew-- 3-5 cans a day, at 170 calories a can!! It's sad, too, because while pregnant I couldn't have it, and managed to cut it out and replace it with water-- but it was easy to slide back into this bad habit! I also snack on high calorie foods-- cheese, chips, etc. If I can get back to eating these occasionally, not daily, I'll be OK.
Why you want to make some changes
Vanity, mostly-- I don't like how I look. I also don't want my daughter to grow up learning my bad habits.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
To cut down on the pop, period. To lose, and KEEP OFF, 20-25 pounds. To exercise regularly, not just when the mood strikes me.
couponchic 08-06-2003, 09:18 PM I would like to join the Live For Life Club. I have really slacked off in the exercise department over the past few years since DH and I got married. It seems so hard to find the time to fit everything into my schedule. We desperately need to cut back on eating out. Seems we fall into cycles with it where we don't eat out for a long time, then we start eating out several times a week.
I currently am at my highest weight ever and I know it is a combination of no/minimal exercise and eating tons of junk/convenience food.
My goals are going to be cutting back on junk food, if not out completely along with exercise at least 3 times per week for 20-30 minutes per workout. Hopefully, in this process, the weight will slowly come off as I exercise more and eat better.
Edited to add***
I really miss all the energy I used to have. Now at the end of the workday, I am just exhausted and the thought of what's for dinner is a headache. That is what causes our eat out cycles, I think. :(

aylasmommy 08-07-2003, 08:03 AM Welcome couponchic! You're situation sounds just like the way I was when I moved in with carl. ...we ate out sooo much and suddenly since he was paying for it (i was pretty poor) i was eating haagendaaz daily...not to mention the pancakes and pizza's, taco bell I lived off of..
I gained 30 pounds in about the first month I moved in. I completley stopped my exercise when I moved in with him, as well as started to sleep all the time that I wasn't at work. And work was just standing on my feet all day.
But I reveresed my habits and lost 25 pounds.
Just changing the eating habits and exercising really is all it takes.
You can do it girl! :)

I'm miserable with how I look....I used to be a size 7 - SEVEN!! Now I'm - well - we'll just say that I'm slightly larger than that now! Thankfully I'm tall and most folks say that I "don't look that big" - what kind of comment is that?! I'm tired of walking towards the door of a store and seeing this big beefie gal walking out only to realize that it's my reflection!
My biggest problem is that I don't eat....my poor body has been in starvation mode since the 70's! Nowadays, a leaf of lettuce adds 10 pounds! I want to get back down to where I started.....7lbs 9ozs! Okay, seriously, I'd like to be back down to at least 150 lbs...I only have an entire person to lose!
Help me!! I'm tired of being a BBW!! :bang:
crdurham 09-12-2003, 09:19 PM Ok, time to sign me up!! Here's my answers:
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance? Well, I have lost the 30 lbs that I gained having ds, but my body is shaped different especially around the middle....I don't like that at all...of course it has only been a month so I should feel good that I lost all my baby weight....i weigh 201 but I don't think I look like I weigh that much....I want to get down to about 140-150......about 10 years ago, I suffered through anorexia...I got down to 99 lbs....it was a awful experience to go through....Now I don't want to be pencil thin....I just want to be healthy and feel good...I would like to tone up some problem areas like my stomach and under arms....
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? I haven't been doing to good with my eating habits....especially with a newborn...I eat whenever I can grab something...I am getting better about eating meals now that things are calming down....me and dh have decided to not buy the junk food and eat healthier....he works out and is in great shape...but we don't eat as good as we should....we don't want to diet, just make better food choices...and get some excerize..
Why you want to make some changes? To be in better shape, feel better and because I want to be around for my ds for a long time!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term? Short term: better eating habits and more excerize Long term: lose 45-50 lbs and tone up, teach my son good "living" habits
isaacsmommy 09-17-2003, 03:51 PM Can I officially sign up? I'm trying to work on a more healthy lifestyle, and will appreciate the support of the village!
mommy2three 09-17-2003, 10:46 PM THAT WOULD BE GREAT WENDY.:D WE ALL NEED SUPPORT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.
milach 09-23-2003, 11:25 AM I really need this support program! Since having a baby in Dec- I had lost all my pregnancy weight within weeks- but somehow I managed to pack on about 15 lbs over the last 9 months. Before I got pregnant- I had lost 30 lbs doing Slim Fast and really enjoyed it (in fact I missed it while I was pregnant). For some reason- I can't get back into the swing of it.
Recently, I had ordered a book from Prevention magazine called "Get Thin, Get Young Plan". It is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change. It emphasizes the food guide pyramid, learning portion control and getting in a daily activity- whether it be something structured like aerobics class, or something informal like just going out and play kickball or jump rope with your kids, gardening- anything that gets you moving. Every week during this 12 week program, there is a different goal for you to focus on- like week 1- get moving and learn portion sizes. Week 2 strength training and filling up on fiber. It breaks the keys to losing weight over a 12 week period so it's not such a shock to the system. And best off all- if I don't lose weight following the suggestions in the book- they garuntee my money back in full. So all I have to lose is weight.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance.
I can't stand it- my belly sticks out further than my boobs and it disgusts me. My back is hurting me after I do something relatively strenuous- like if I spend a good part of the day cleaning, gardening or even go for a walk.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas.
I'm a wicked junk food junkie- I'll walk past the fruit bowl on the counter to raid the cookie jar, or heat up a dozen mozzarella sticks or buffalo wings in the freezer. Plus, if DH is gone for the whole week, I tend not to cook just for myself- so I'll hit the drive thru or just snack all day on junk.
Why you want to make some changes
My pants are getting too tight and I don't want to buy new ones. My back has been hurting lately and I need to find something to do instead of just sit on my butt infront of the computer all day.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term.
Short term goal: Doing the plan out of this book- I want to lose 2 lbs a week over the next 12 weeks. That would put me at a 24 lb loss for my birthday (Dec 6th).
Long term goal- I want to see 125-130 lbs (I'm only 5'2")- which would be a 45 lb loss in total, and I want to tone up using the weight machine we have in the basement, and by doing more physical activities outside.
ScrapMama 11-18-2003, 03:46 PM I'd like to sign up for this club too.
homesteadmamma 11-18-2003, 04:01 PM Done!!
ScrapMama 11-18-2003, 06:00 PM Thank You!
baronmom 11-18-2003, 06:24 PM I think that it is about time that I join up for this. I hate the weight that I am now. I weigh more than I have ever weighed in my entire life. ( Including when I was pregnant.) I have lost a few pounds here and there, but nothing that stays off for a long time. I have been working out at Curves for Women for about 5 months now. We recently invested in some new cookware that should allow us to cook healthier, and I am trying to eat the right things. (Bread, Soda and chocolate are my weaknesses.) I would like to lose some weight before we go to my dh's Army Formal. I have two and 1/2 months to do it. Wish me lots of luck.
homesteadmamma 11-18-2003, 06:43 PM Done!!
Heather 11-18-2003, 07:11 PM Oh my, I went back and read my "testimonial" and boy do I have work to do. I did so well the beginning of the year. I must say though that I have greatly improved in the exercise department. It's the eating...I did so well and know it can be done, I felt better, was proud of myself and then emotions get in the way and boom, bad eating. Needless to say I'm an emotional eater...pretty bad eh? Eat when I'm happy, eat when I'm sad, :D Focus, focus, that's what I need, I know I can do this and want to change for life not for 6 months or a year, guess I just need to get back on track.
paelthom 01-19-2004, 01:21 PM I haven't signed up for this before because I didn't think I could stick to it. However if you'll have me, I'd like to join now. For me it's either get healthy or else!
Here's my answers:
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance. My weight is ok, I would like to drop maybe another 5 - 10 lbs. I am short so every lb. really shows. My main concern is that I am all flab. I need to be tone up much more. (or major liposuction).
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas. I need to drink much more water and to try and eat more veggies and fruits even if my family won't. In the past I have just ate what they ate and not rocked the boat but now I have to eat what I need to be healthy. I need to lay off the greasy foods and junk binges. I need a certain amount of caffeine and chocolate though or I get mean.
Why you want to make some changes. I'm 41 :yikes: and I want to live a long, long time and see my dd grow up and be happy. I want to be one of those people that are full of life and energy at 85. I think if I eat healthier and exercise more I will not have so many health problems and it might even help with the depression.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term. Drink more water, eat fruits and veggies much more, eat healthy snacks, exercise by walking 5 times a week and doing simple exercises at home 5 times a week.
Well here goes......... I am going to do it!!!
canadian gardener 01-19-2004, 05:28 PM My short term goal I'd be happy with losing 20 lbs. I was starting at 220 Jan 1. I am down 4 lbs at 216 right now today (it bounced down and back up and down again).
Long term, well I'll prefer to re evaluate that as I near my first interim goal of 200. I know that my ideal is 160 to 165 which is what I always felt best at. (below that even tho the tables say I should, always felt icky)
My exersise goal is to get stronger and fitter and my method to achieve same is to use my weights Mon, Wed, and Fri and gradually increase the repititions, then later the weights. Aerobics on Tue, Thur, and Saturday, Sundays off.
I plan to keep that up forever. I need that to feel good.
I eat a modified Atkins, never have done well with grains, carbs etc. I like and eat lots of veggies and occaisional fruits. I'm badly allergic to all legumes and mildly allergic to dairy and pork and eggs so I rotate my proteins thru my menu system.
I lose weight best and have fewer allergy symptoms when I'm taking a multivitamin, Calcium, Magnesium, Vit E, Salmon Oil and Evening PRimrose oil supplements.
I've recently started taking MSM with that to reduce inflammation and allergy symptoms.
halo475 01-19-2004, 10:37 PM Welcome Pat and Margrey!!
Jayne 01-28-2004, 09:23 AM I have been avoiding this like the plague...but I can't anymore
MY reasons for joining are:
~ My health, ...I need to get my blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesteral, down...my joints are killing me fom the excess weight...and I am severely depressed
~My looks....I hate the person I see...I don't recognize myself anymore
I can't do the things I want to do because I am so overweight, and I get tired and out of breath...I shy away from people because I have an awful self-image...I just can't see living this way the rest of my life.....
So I am gonna try....taking baby steps...5 lbs. at a time, going to Curves three days a week...Counting calories and portions have been the only things that have worked for me in the past...so that's my plan....
Iam 5'4" and my current weight is 216
I would like to reach a goal weight of 140
76 lb weight loss is my goal
Jessie 02-15-2004, 08:12 PM I'd like to join if I could please :)
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I would have to say that I'm feeling ok about it, I think the hardest thing is accepting the fact that I am getting older and the weight just doesn't disappear like it used to
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I have been trying to improve on this for awhile, but still have along way to go in eating healthier. My problem area is whenever I am baking something for the kids I always have to sample it
;)
Why you want to make some changes?
Because of 40 being just a few years away and I know that the older you get the harder it is to maintain and keep a certain weight so if I learn things now maybe they will stay with me
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
To learn self-disipline, to go to the gym at least three times a week and to take the little extra time it takes to prepare good healthy meals
sunshine 02-16-2004, 09:30 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
It didn't used to bother me, but a round of steroids last year for joint problems had me gain over 60 lbs! Now I feel fat, slow, and ugly
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I eat way too much junk, fat, sugar and salt. Problem areas are eating when stressed and bored.
Why you want to make some changes
Diabetes runs in my family--- and I don't want to deal with all the complications of that. I want to hurt less, control my BP (I've already had one stroke) and be able to enjoy my grandchildren when I get some.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Short term-- I want to lose the 60 lbs I gained initially with the steroid use, plus a few more that I already had extra. - so I need to lose at least 80 lbs.
Long term-- I want healthy eating habits, lower my BP so I don't need meds to control it.
KKCondrey 03-02-2004, 10:34 PM Can I join :wave2:
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance:
I know I am not overweight but I would mind loosing a few pounds here and there (or at least a few inches)
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
I need to drink more water and less sodas (I have gone from the 20oz bottles to the 12oz bottles and can's though so at least that is a start. As far as sweets I don't eat a lot (except peeps and cadbury cream eggs at Easter) but I do snack but when I do it is mostly some cheese crackers or plain popcorn)
Why you want to make some changes:
Just to feel better about myself as a whole.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
I plan on sticking with it as long as it takes.
;)
CatherineID 03-04-2004, 12:07 AM I'd like to join, too ...
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance:
Don't like it! My bra size keeps growing. I wouldn't mind that if there was a lot of difference between my chest size and my waist and hips, but there isn't. Anytime my second chin goes from - hint of a shadow to full-fledged member of the family, I know it's time to lose weight. I don't want pictures taken of me! I don't even want to step on a scale. I want to lose some weight before I dare because I don't want to know how much I've gained.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
I eat pretty well (and it shows - lol!). Seriously, I could snack less and eat smaller portions but my biggest problem is exercise. I'm asthmatic and exercise triggers an attack. I have to be very careful about exercising but that's not an excuse for not doing any of it.
Why you want to make some changes:
Health mostly. I want to get off of Lipitor (frugal reason - I don't want to pay for the prescription). I also don't want to become diabetic. I have a family history of heart disease and diabetes so I need to pay attention to my weight now.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
Fit into a size 10 again. That's not unreasonable. When I'm at my ideal weight for my height I'm a size 6-8 which, at my age (46), I think is too thin. I'd also like to stay at a nice healthy weight for a very long time.
CountryRose 03-06-2004, 02:13 PM I think I might have asked to join on the wrong thread. Anyway I am interested in joining this group.
I am 52 years young today:toothy: and weigh 185-190 lbs. I am
type II diabetic. I have managed up to now to lose 40 lbs. I need
to lose 50 more pounds. I have hit a "plateau" and am having
trouble at this point. I need more exercise and to stick to my food
plan. I also need the encouragement of others. This LFL group is
something I have been looking for. I have set goals of more
exercise and adherence to my food plan. I am looking forward to
getting to know you all. CountryRose-Rosemary

momi26 05-05-2004, 11:50 AM I definitely need to be here. I need to lose about 75-80 lbs. I am a major carb addict and have recently been told, after a 5 hour blood glucose fasting test, that I am headed toward diabetes. I also have fibromyalgia and IBS. So I know, if I could gain control over these eating habit, and lose this excess weight, I'd feel and look soooo much better......
halo475 05-06-2004, 07:13 AM Welcome Susie and Ellen!!

writtenonmybody 05-11-2004, 02:45 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance.
I'm fine with my current weight and appearance.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas.
My eating habits are pretty good. I eat alot of veggies, fruits, soy products. But I also eat alot of sweets and always have. I would like to cut down on that and drinking soda.
Why you want to make some changes.
I want to be more aware of what I'm putting into my body!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My overall goal for the next month is to cut down on the soda drinking, take care of my body better through yoga and other workouts, and pay attention to what my body is telling me. As you can tell.. I'm up pretty late... I need to change that too! Heh. That's the long term hard one for me.
janimaj 05-11-2004, 06:44 AM My goal is to walk about 30 min. everyday.
"ditto" on the soda that is ny biggest downfall. If I could just quit drinking my rout44 sonnic soda :pepsi: I will be o.k.
gkp1031 05-11-2004, 09:56 PM I can't believe I never officially signed up for this....

*I'm ok with my weight, but would like to lose inches in my thighs--then I'd be thrilled with my appearance!!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas.
*My eating habits are good for the most part. I do have a major sweet tooth, but I'm working on that!
Why you want to make some changes
*To feel better about myself, to get into a bathing suit again without feeling self conscious about my lower body.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
*To continue to drink lots of water each day, stick to an exercise program and enjoy it!
ColleeninNY 06-07-2004, 01:40 PM Hi everyone! I'm new and I'd like to join this challenge!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I weigh 211 lbs!! I'm 5'6" and have never had a child. I have totally let myself go over the past few years. I feel like no matter what I wear, I just look fat.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I just like food. I have no moderation. I eat when I'm not hungry just because I like to eat. I feel out of control.
Why you want to make some changes
I want to be healthier. I want to play organized team volleyball again! I want to look good and be in control of my life. I want my husband to be proud of me.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My overall goal is to weigh 140 lbs.

3. Why you want to make some changes
I want to feel better and be more active.
4. Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My goal is to lose around 53 lbs. and maintain that. I want to feel better and look better.
grace1902 07-02-2004, 06:41 AM Sign me up to shed 25 lbs. while watching my health, and nutrition! Sometimes, I think this is so hopeless as I have two teens to feed, also. It seems such a waste to not cook for all of us at once, and I've given up trying to convince them to switch to more healthy "diet" food. They have no problems with being overweight so, Mom's gotta do this for herself! :toothy:
I could sure use everybody elses's support and I'll be more than happy to reciprocate with mine!:bang:
homesteadmamma 07-02-2004, 09:50 AM Welcome Grace to both the goalgetter's club and to the LFL club. We have a daily thread going in regards to the LFL club in that forum and this is one of the best places for support when it comes to the LFL program. Congratulations, your on your way.
britbunny 07-23-2004, 07:13 AM Hi! I've decided to make the decision to join. what I really need is to have people behind me to support me. I haven't lived in my current area for very long and don't know anyone so I think I need online friends for support if that's ok.
So...
How do I feel about my appearance?
I saw myself in a shop mirror a couple of days ago and was horrifed at what I saw (as I thought I was wearing on eof my most flattering outfits!) So I feel shocked at how I've "let myself go"
My problem area as far as food goes is that I use my DH as my excuse. Before I met him I ate very sensibly but now I feel as though I have to "reward" him when he gets home from work with a hearty meal. I know that what I cook is bad for him too, but it's just the leap from what I know in my brain to actually following it through with the actions.
I want to make the changes because I have a wardrobe full of clothes that nearly fit and so to not shape up to even fit into them is insane.
I also want to be more active as I have fallen into a routine of large periods of inactivity. I used to have a fairly physical job - lots of walking etc and when I gave that up there didn't seem to be enough time to make up that amount of exercise so it has lessened to practically none.
My goals are therefore to integrate exercise into my routine so that I don't necessarily have to have "exercise" time but I am active throughout the day. Also to stop using my husband as an excuse for not making sensibe meals.
Wow! well that's it for now!
gkp1031 07-23-2004, 08:39 AM Welcome! I'm glad you joined, I'm sure you'll find lots of support here.
Feel free to start an exercise journal here if you want. I started one earlier in the week and I find it holds me accountable since I post it here.
What kind of exercise are you going to do?
Let me know if you have any questions!
Good Luck!
santoria 08-03-2004, 08:05 PM I am in!!
I want ot get more determined and actually put an effort into losing weight and basically improving my life.
We have been eating better, getting out and doing more.
I jsut need to keep it up, I have the tendency of using things as excuses. Like the kids need a day to relax, or I have too much stuff to do. Blah blah blah.
Christine
gkp1031 08-03-2004, 08:12 PM Welcome to the club! Pretty soon, those excuses will be a thing of the past! Looking forward to getting fit with you :)

hsmommyto1 08-26-2004, 12:17 PM Hi everyone, I'd love to sign up for this program if it's not too late. I could really use the accountability!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I am very unhappy with the way I currently look. Anytime I come across old pictures of me, I can hardly believe I used to be that thin and look that good. I want the old me back!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits used to be great but the past year or so they've really gone down hill. I've been eating way to much of processed low fiber foods lately.
Why you want to make some changes?
For so many reasons but mainly to ensure that I don't end up dropping dead of a heart attack or developing diabetes someday and also to get my self confidence back!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
When I weighed myself this morning I was 194.5:eek:.
My goal weight is 125. (The weight I used to be just a few years ago).
I am currently in a size 16.
My goal size is a size 6 (The size I used to be just a few years ago).
Goodwin17 08-27-2004, 12:01 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I feel absolutely terrible. I'm a nurse who's supposed to promote good health instead here I am at 22 and more sluggish and unhealthy than some people twice my age!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I am so ashamed of my eating habits. These habits stem back to early childhood when I used to sneak food at my grandmother's house. I eat what I want when I want, and it has to stop.
Why you want to make some changes
I want to look great for my wedding next year, I want to be in good health before I have children, it's easier to find smaller clothes at the thrift stores than really big clothes, I want to feel pretty again, and I need to become healthier.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My total goal is to lose 145 pounds, long term. My short term goal is to lose at least 80 or 90 pounds by October 15, 2005 the date of my wedding.
kimmee 08-27-2004, 12:59 PM Hey - can I sign up for this program please!!! I could really use the motivation!!:bang:

Tootsiebella 08-29-2004, 05:05 PM I hope it's not too late to join this club. If it isn't, well, I better explain that I feel totally disgusted with the weight I have gradually put on over the past few years...
I have over 60 lbs to lose, just to take me to a point where I am a semi-healthy weight again.
My weakness is cookies and chocolate for sure.
I know I have to do something though because my knees are becoming sore by the end of each day, and my energy levels are terrible.
I resolve to walk at least 30 minutes four times week, and to make sure that I cut out the cookies and chocolate- opting instead for fruit and nuts..
Anything is better than seeing myself as I did in a recent picture, and wondering how in the world I have allowed myself to get this way.
My goal is to lose 35 pounds by the time we move back to the US in January or Febuary, and to lose the other 30 in time for my 40th birthday in September 2005. I cannot think of a better present to myself and my family.
Count me in....

handmerounds 09-28-2004, 03:31 PM Well, I'm joining too. I had done atkins earlier this year and lost 20 lbs and felt great!! But I slipped back into some of my old habits and quit losing. I think what really helped me was cutting the regular sodas out. I started drinking diet and discovered they aren't that bad. They actually taste good. But I don't drink as many diet as I did regular. That is just a tip for some of you!! Also when doing atkins, after about the 3rd day I stopped craving sweets!! I really had to make myself eat sometimes, because I just wasn't hungry. So I started back on atkins (low carb) today!
How I feel currently about my weight and appearance?
I feel ok until I see pictures. I just don't like what I see compared to how I use to look.
Eating habits?
I crave sweets....cookies, ice cream, chocolate etc. That's why I'm doing atkins, because I know from experience that I will stop craving sweets after a few days.
Why I want to make changes?
Because I don't want to keep putting on weight and 10 years from now be huge. It sneaks up on you. I want to feel young and healthy for a long time.
My goal is?
Lose 25 pounds. Feel good about my appearance!!
LadyNada 09-29-2004, 12:08 PM I'd like to join, if I still can. So here's my answers to the questions -- I didn't read this whole thread all the way through, just the initial one, so if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance? Well, actually, I'm fairly happy with my weight. I went from 180 lbs. last year to 160 lbs. this year. which is a great accomplishment for me. Yesterday, I bought a size small shirt! I was so thrilled! :fdance:
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? My eating habits could use some change. I'm a vegetarian :carrot: but also a chronic junk eater :cone2:. My problem areas involve not getting enough protein, but also a picky eater hubby who won't eat my meals unless something dead is in them. :bang:
Why you want to make some changes?
Basically, I'd like to change my eating habits to be healthier :apple:, and lose a little more weight. I'd like to feel more confident about my body and be more comfortable in my own skin.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
My long term goals include:
1. To lose another 7 to 10 lbs. before Christmas of next year.
2. To keep that weight off!
3. To improve my eating habits.
4. To cut way back on the junk food I eat.
Bright Blessings!

Ahrens65 10-21-2004, 03:14 PM Sign me up! I need to definately make a life change.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I feel terrible about my current weight which I imagine now is 165, I threw out the scale after I reached 155, otherwise I would know for sure what it is. My appearance is nothing what it used to be, I am 5'10 and used to weigh between 125 and 135. I get so mad at myself and I won't even look at pictures of myself back then or now.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My eating habits I would say in general are too bad, its just what I am eating that is a problem. I do ok trying to eat healthy and then some crisis comes up that I have to take care of and I resort to high fat fast food etc...with 4 kids, you can bet there is always a crisis...LOL. My problem areas are what used to be my butt, my thighs and my stomach. Let's not even start about the cellulite.
Why you want to make some changes
I want to feel good again, have more energy, feel good about myself inside as well as out.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I would like to lose between 20 to 30 pounds, heck, i'll take 10 to start out with. I want to get back into the clothing I spent a small fortune on when I worked outside of the home. I want to be able to walk down the street and not glance in the windows and see my reflection and feel worthless. I truly need to do something and now is the time.
mommy2many 11-07-2004, 11:03 AM I would like to sign up please.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance-Not great. I have been up and down weight wise for years and want to be healthy
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas-I either eat way too much or starve myself I am looking for a healthy eating plan.
Why you want to make some changes-I want to live a long time and feel good about myself again.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term-Weight loss goal is 20 pounds for now.
i.m.cheap 11-14-2004, 08:34 PM I have put this off way too long, sign me up!
How I feel about my current weight and/or appearance-Really bad. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I have put on 60 pounds since DH and I got married in 1995.
How I feel about my eating habits and problem areas-I do try to eat healthy, most of the time. I do like bread. I know I am not nearly active enough.
Why I want to make some changes-I am afraid I am ruining my health with all this extra weight. I worry about heart disease and diabetes. My goal is to lose at least 50 pounds.
Panndy1 01-05-2005, 06:04 AM This sounds good. So I want to sign up. I am already in the goal group so this goes along with it.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I hate my weight and appearance, even more since I had lost 60# and knew what it was like to be thinner. Unfortunately I gained it back. I have relost 10 so far.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
Prior to the start of 2005 I felt like my eating was totally out of control. I got on track and lost the 10# but then started in with the sweets again. They are my downfall since I am kind of a sugar addict. From past experience, I know that to lose weight I have to stay away from sweets and sugar.
Why you want to make some changes?
Mainly for my health and I do want to look better. I also want to feel better about myself. When I lost the weight before I gained self confidence and feeling good about myself that I don't have when I am real heavy like now.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My short term goal is to work on this now every day. since the 1st have been doing some better, at least staying away from sweets. My long term goal is to lose 60, so another 50. That is for starters. If I can lose 4-5# a month that would good.
gkp1031 01-05-2005, 08:00 PM Welcome to the LFL club Peggy :)
twinblessed 01-05-2005, 08:05 PM Fellow Live for Lifers!
I want to get started now!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Honestly, I looked in the mirror recently and loved my body perhaps for the first time in my life. I guess I have spent most of my life dealing with abuse and not wanting to look in the mirror or feel what my body feels. I think that eating is sometimes numbing for me and sometimes out of boredom the only way to feel good feelings.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I NEED to keep a food log so that I can find what needs re-arranged. I have a menu for evening meals (an entrée, cooked veggie and raw for dinner) I need to make a list of breakfasts, lunches and snacks that work with my plan. I did go to LA Weightloss because I don’t think I can do it by myself.
Why you want to make some changes?
Now that I like my body I want it to feel better to me and look better for me, I want better health to run in the park with my dog and kids, to be healthy when my kids get older and have grandkids. I want less lower back pain from carrying a belly of too-much food around with me.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Longterm goal: lose 48lbs (From 168 down to 120lbs) I am 5 ft so this sounds right to me. AND exercise 3-5xs a week.
Short term goal for this week: Write food log, weigh in 3xs week. Exercise 2xs week for the next week.
Catherine
Looking forward to supporting each other!
P.S. How do I get me a ticker? (for my weight?)

Panndy1 01-05-2005, 08:10 PM Thanks for the welcome Gina. Nice to be here.

Mamawolf 01-23-2005, 07:49 PM I need some prodding! :D I'm game. I'm halfway to my goal, but have been hitting a plateau lately.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance My starting weight was 11 lbs. above my original pre-pregnancy weight. I didn't feel too bad about it until I noticed how huge my butt and thighs are. I could have fit into smaller size pants if it weren't for my thighs!!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas I am eating pretty healthy already, but I was not very mobile last year due to knee surgery. I'd like to help that weight come off a little faster. As far as how I felt about problem areas, I hated how when I didn't have any pants on, I looked like I was wearing pants that flared at the thigh, those ones from the 80's!
Why you want to make some changes I not only want to lose a little weight, but I want to get a little healthier. I would like to TTC in about a year and I have many, many problems with pre-term labor. I'm told that making sure I eat much healthier (even though I already do) will make sure that I'm not malnutritioned and that cases PTL.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term To lose the weight is a short term goal, keeping healthy (and perhaps organic) is my long-term
I'm IN I'm IN!!!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance. I've been lucky to be thin my whole life but not as healthy as I could be. I have good muscle tone but I want to build on that. And LOSE MY TUMMY!!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas.
Bad eating habits, too much junk etc are holding me back. I think too much sugar makes my tummy look bloated as well. I'm going to focus on my abs and go hardcore about it!
Why you want to make some changes
I want to be in the best shape of my life! I want to wear a bikini with CONFIDENCE. I want to be able to run without getting breathless. I want to improve my endurance with mt biking. I'm always in last in the group!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Improve my cardio, increase my muscle tone and EAT CLEAN!
Now where's my gold ring!
:D :D
gkp1031 01-23-2005, 10:07 PM Welcome Chea and Mamawolf!!
Isabellasmom 02-03-2005, 12:55 PM I'd like to join please!!!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I'm happier with my current weight then I was 6 months ago (I dropped 30 pounds 6 months ago) but I am still VERY self conscious with what clothes I wear. My weight sounds alot more then I look like I have on me but I also learned how to dress "thinner".
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I have learned that my eatting habits are emotional eatting caused by stress, depression, boredom etc... I am trying to do other things when these emotions arise and stay away from the food
Why you want to make some changes? I want to feel better about myself, with the long list of family medical problems I want to cut my risks and be around to watch my daughter grow, I also have two weddings I need to be in both wearing skin tight strapless dresses and I want to feel pretty and enjoy my evenings instead of worrying about what rolls people can see etc...
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Overall goal is to feel better, like the way I look. I do have a set weight goal of 125 but have come to realize that I may look and feel the way I should and want to at 130 or 135 etc... so I have to keep an open mind about the numbers and go more by how I feel
gkp1031 02-03-2005, 11:39 PM Welcome Jen! Looking foward to getting fit with ya!
baxjul 02-25-2005, 06:43 AM Is it too late to join?
I really need to lose about 40 lbs.
I have no energy, get winded after walking upstairs, my pants are getting tight around the middle!!!
I want to learn to eat more healthy, no junk!
Layne 03-03-2005, 08:41 PM I'd like to join in too!
How do I feel about my current weight and appearance?
I don't have much to lose, about 15 pounds, but I'm really out of shape. Kind of flabby all over, especially around my middle.
How do you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I need to eat healthier. Problem areas are snacking, especially late night and not sticking with my walking and exercising.
Why you want to make some changes.
I want to have more energy and wear shorts this summer. :) Now that I'm in my 40's I'm starting to worry about health issues related to poor eating habits and not getting enough exercise.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term.
Short term is to lose the extra pounds. Long term is to develop better eating habits and be more active.
Kimberlina 03-08-2005, 04:00 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
Why you want to make some changes
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
1) Not great-have not lost all my pregnancy weight and have gained some back. (Yikes!!!) I don't think my sppearance has changed much as I am tall and have always hid extra weight well unless I am in a bathing suit or short shorts. But the bathing suit- yuck!
2) Ever since I had DD I have had a terrible sweet tooth- not sure why. It is so funny, because everybody at work sees me as someone who doesn't ever eat junk food, which I really didn't used to. So, I would definitely like to cut back on the sweets more- I just have no willpower, it seems.
3) I want to make changes for my physical and mental health. I have anxiety disorder and it would be greatly improved with consistent, regular exercise and better eating. I know that, but just can't seem to figure out how to put it all together and take care of DD, too.(I am definitely not a "natural" at parenting- I love DDto pieces, but it is WORK!!!)
4) Goals- exercise at leat 30/min a day 4x a week, lose 50 pounds, ideall, but I'd be very happy with 35.
:D:D
PoorRichardsGirl 03-24-2005, 02:53 PM Oops! I posted my goal weight before signing up here.
I really need to join, to help me get more weight off and exercise more. I want to look better, but it's also for health reasons. A couple of months ago I was told my blood pressure was high, and I'm now taking medicine for it. I know if I lose weight, I may be able to go off it eventually.
jlxian 04-06-2005, 03:01 PM Better late than never, I guess! Somehow I missed this thread.
Please sign me up too.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance.
I feel wretched about my weight and appearance. I weigh what I weighed a little over 12 years ago when I was 9 months pregnant with twins. And appearance? Ugh. In my job I am free to wear whatever I please (read -- Jeans and t shirts), but until about 4 years ago I didn't wear jeans everyday. I dressed up. But my boss at that time made some drastic changes in my job and I think I've had a poor attitude ever since then and not cared about how I look.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My eating habits have not been good. One of my New Year resolutions was to "eat healthy" and I've been doing a better job, but need to do even better. I also have used food as a consolation when I'm mad, sad or frustrated -- unfortunately this happens a lot on my current job. Plus the vending machine is about 10 paces from my desk.
Why you want to make some changes
Well, I'm tired of not being able to bend over to tie my shoes. I'm tired of feeling like a frump. And I'd like to be able to join my kids in the public swimming pool this summer -- something I have not done since they were about 6. I'm also now in my 50s and would like to advance into my "old age" as a healthy person.
Your overall goal -- short term or long term.
Short term is to lose weight, and long term is to keep it off AND maintain a healthy lifestyle.
halo475 04-06-2005, 04:08 PM Welcome welcome welcome!!

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I feel blah I feel chubby and want to be happier with myself
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I am easily tempted by Icecream and potato chips
Why you want to make some changes
To be healthier and feel good
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I currently am at 167 I would like to loose 32 pounds
I have lost 30ish pound with WW, I have gained about 10 of those back
:bang: I plan on keeping with the WW program!!
ladijo 06-11-2005, 10:23 AM I would like to join this too. Since I quit smoking eight years ago I have struggled with weight. I don't overeat and do eat healthy. My problem is I don't like to exercise and need some motivation to be accountable in that area.
Jo
Send a greeting today!
Rhaynefall 06-13-2005, 04:49 PM I so need this! I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I was born a 10 lb baby and never stopped growing. I have NEVER been a normal weight. I don't know what it's like to be at a healthy weight.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
Awful. I look in the mirror and cry most days. I have never felt pretty. I put on a LOT of weight with my ex husband, who was abusive in every sense of the word. I use it to hide and I don't want to be this person anymore.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My eating is basically one of portion control. I LOVE fruits and veggies, but I can also eat a pint of ice cream at a sitting. I eat whole frozen pizzas instead of a slice or two and a salad. I always feel hungry. My problem areas are all over, from my lack of a neck/chin line, my gross arms to my overhanging stomach.
Why you want to make some changes
I am married to the most wonderful, gorgeous, tall SKINNY guy in the world (who can also eat like a pig and not gain an ounce). He's very outdoorsy and athletic, and I want to be able to go hiking with him. And I want to LIVE a long life with him. He's been wanting to go to Six Flags this year. I don't fit in a lot of the rides, and I'm tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching my life pass me by. I've been evaluated by a Dr. who said that besides the weight and mild high blood pressure due to the weight, I'm in perfect health: no thyroid issues, no cholesteral issues. Just a fat chick.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Long term: 150 lbs, walk Scotland, walk past my ex husband and make sure he knows it's me.
Short term: Continue my 20 minute walk at lunch when able (weather, etc), adding in more cardio and some weights at night for another 30-45 minutes most nights gradually, cutting down on the junk food and heading back towards the more vegetarian/organic lifestyle I prefer.
YankeeMom 06-16-2005, 07:02 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I don't like my appearance. I don't think I'm grossly overweight, but I don't like getting winded going up the stairs and I don't want to be told "You look good...for having four kids". I want to be told, I look good period ;)
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I eat when I'm bored/not hungry. And I don't eat enough fruits & veggies. Other than that, I don't think my eating habits are all that bad. When I do eat, it's not normally junky food (like chips & cookies).
Why you want to make some changes
I want to be healthy & I want to look good :D
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
my long term goal is to lose 40-50lbs (40min/50max), short term is to be in a comfortable size 10 by the end of the year (I'm a snug size 12 now).
I'm not sure this is the best time for me to be starting this, I'm finishing up my college degree, the kids are about to be out of school for the summer and dh is in the middle of switching jobs which more than likely could mean a move for us in the near future. But I gotta start sometime, I can't keep postponing this because life gets in the way. Life will always get in the way.
Mamaw 06-16-2005, 10:27 PM I hope it is not too late to join in this one!
How I feel about my weight and appearance:
Lousy! I had taken diet pills and lost 70 pounds but once I quit taking them I just gained it all back. I hate being as heavy as I am now but I know taking pills is not the answer because that does not change any of my unhealthy habits. Plus I think the pills have caused other medical problems.
My eating habits and problem areas are portion control and mindless eating. I am in the habit of reading and snacking each and every night. I know I have to change my habits in order to lose the weight but cant seem to get motivated to do it. I do love fruit and several vegetables but also adore chocolate, cheese, crackers, bread and anything that is loaded in carbs! And popcorn is addictive for me. I also eat when I am not hungry. I can eat when tired, stressed, sad, angry, depressed or just because its Monday! LOL
Why I need to make changes are mainly health reasons. I am closing in on 47 years old and have family history of diabetes and cancer. I used to have high blood pressure but was taken off pills when I lost weight. I dont want to take medications again for that. Also I realized I can not play hopscotch anymore. The jumping is just too hard for me. My Grand daughter is 18 months and I want to be able to play with her for years and years to come. I also was starting to take horseback riding lessons but have to stop since I am too heavy to progress.
My goals are:
Short term = to lose one pound a week
to walk on my treadmill 4 days a week
to either lift free weights or exercise using
resistance bands 2 days a week
to drink 6 glasses of water a day
to cook healthy meals instead of eating on junk food
to find motivation to make the changes needed
to gain more energy
Long term = to lose 80 pounds but I will gladly settle for 60
to resume horseback riding lessons and eventually
buy a horse
to play hopscotch and jump rope
to fit into my "skinny' clothes
to lesson my chances of heart attack, diabetes,
high blood pressure and stroke
to take dance classes and enjoy life more
to have more energy and motivation to live life
not to just think about it
I need to lose 15lbs. I barely fit in my jeans/shorts and I can tell things are harder to get done without a little extra huffin' and puffin'. I'm in with you girls!
Jasmine 06-20-2005, 01:10 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
My weight is fine. I'm the exact (to the lb) same weight I was when I got pregnant with DD 3 years ago. I'm very petite and have a great metabolism so weight is not a problem. However, I had a great stomach before DD was born and now it's got a flab. I know it's normal but it's now 2 years later and I want to start toning it back up.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
THIS is the reason I want to join. I feel like we eat horribly most of the time. DH works a rotating schedule so he's rarely home for dinner and I just can't seem to make a decent meal when he's not here. I only drink water at home but I'm still not drinking enough. I like to snack way too much (usually chips) and then I feel sluggish. I would like to eat more organic but slack off quickly.
Why you want to make some changes
I was raised with poor eating habits and want DD to have better ones. I want to feel better about myself and what I eat.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Short term I would like to eat a more balanced diet and healthier snacks. Drink 80 ounces of water a day (I have a history of kidney stones so this is REALLY important!) and start walking/toning my tummy.
Long term I'd like to just make these things habit and go more organic with our foods.
Prairiemom 06-21-2005, 04:14 PM How do you feel about your current weight and appearance?
I've always been one of those lucky people who could eat whatever and how much I wanted and not gain a pound. Then I turned 40 and in the past 3 years have gained 20 pounds and show no signs of stopping. The weight I’ve added makes me feel awful. I’m out of shape because I don’t exercise and it’s starting to show.
How do you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I have great intentions but have a hard time sticking with a healthy eating plan, so I tend to bounce between good and bad foods. My problem areas are snacking in the afternoons and portion sizes at meals. I know my metabolism has dropped and I just shouldn’t be eating as much as I used to.
Why you want to make some changes.
I want to feel good about myself and have more energy.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term.
Overall I want to feel and look healthier. Even if I don’t lose all the weight I would be happy to have toned muscles and be able to do more physical work.
Mojjo 06-21-2005, 05:35 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I don't like it at all...no I don't. Lately I have worked on every part of my appearance except my weight so now it's time. And it needs help desperately.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I have okay habits except afternoon snacking. I have to STOP that. I also have to work on portion control, but have gotten much better lately.
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be healthier to set a better example for my kids and enjoy life more.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
My short term goal is to start walking every night and lose 10 pounds by the end of August. My Long Term goal is to lose over 100 pounds, but I'm going to rely on short 10 pound incriments to keep me motivated.
As a side note, I'm so glad I found this here...it will be a huge help in me tackling my two weakest points...money and weight.
tbs727 06-23-2005, 04:12 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I have an extra layer of fat that I don't like. I am a curvy woman and I like that. I just want to get a flat stomach again.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I don't eat bad things often, I have quit sodas, processed meats, and pork. That alone has improved the way I feel tremendously (no more headaches!!!) I could cook and eat healthier dinners and eat out less.
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be able to go out in shorts and go swimming and not feel bad about the way I look.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Short term and long term are about the same, lose 15-20 lbs. and walk every night.

Just call me a joiner - but for all the right reasons! Count me in!
How do I feel? Crappy. I hate how I look, how I can't fit into anything cute. I can't fit in some rides at the amusement park. I can't keep up with my kids. I want to. I want my husband to be proud of how I look. My kids too. I'm embarrassed.
My eating habits? What do I love, sugar, chocolate, PB&J, soda. What don't I eat? Veggies, fruits. Honestly don't eat that much fast food, but donuts are a problem!
Why? I want to be healthy. I don't want to be out of breath going up and down the stairs. I don't want to feel unnatractive to DH. I want to FEEL sexy again. I want other men to notice me, and for my hubby to notice them noticing me. I want to be happy.
My goal. Hm. Eating and cooking better. Less "white" foods, more "green" foods. Regular exercise. I'd like to lose a total of 50 pounds, but 10-15 by the start of school. I WANT TO SHOP IN "REGULAR" STORES!!!
Telephus44 06-25-2005, 06:10 PM I've thought a long time about joining in, but last night I read a magazine article that finally kicked me in the butt and I'm in.
How do you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Honestly, I feel pretty good most days. I'm 5'1", 110lbs. People at work tell me how skinny I am and that they wish they could look like me. Occasionally I'll silently gripe to myself about my jiggly belly or thighs, but 99 days out of 100 I think I look good.
How do you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
Terrible! I'm still in the stage of my life where I can eat whatever I want and it doesn't show - and I'm currently taking full advantage of it. I eat ice cream or sweets almost daily, and I'm never one to pass up cookies or dougnuts that get brought in to work. I can put down a double quarter pounder with cheese meal at McDonalds. I really want to work on eating more fruits and vegetables, and less processed foods. I also have not been good about exercisig - ever. I enjoy walking but for some reason never seem to have the discipline to make myself walk on a regular basis.
Why do you want to make some changes?
This is where the magazine article I read last night comes in - DH and I want to start a family. The rough timeline is to come off of birth control in September, and begin really trying in December. I want to have healthy habits in place before I get pregnant so that I have have a healthy pregnancy (and baby!) I would also like to set a good example for DH - he should lose about 20 lbs (his long term goal is 40) for health reasons, and if I am cooking healthier and eating healthier, I know that some of it will rub off.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Mostly short term - I want to have a healthy lifestyle in place in the next 6 months. However, if I can really make it a lifestyle change I guess it becomes a long term goal.
favesis37 06-27-2005, 05:01 PM is it to late to sign up? i would love to. i am about 70 pounds over weight, i have lost 30 since april
dhmunoz 06-28-2005, 09:26 AM I am in desperate need of encouragement in this area, so I would love to sign up.
How do I feel about my current weight/appearance? Pretty horrible. I have gained 50 lbs since DH and I got together and I wasn't bone-skinny to start with. I don't seem to have much willpower either, so I need accountability, I suppose.
How do I feel about my eating habits/problem areas? Again, pretty horrible. I feel like I am always so busy that I only have time to grab something fast to eat--and "something fast" is rarely something healthy.
Why do I want to make changes? Mostly for health reasons. I don't feel so great these days, and I am pretty sure my lousy eating/exercise habits have something to do with it. I could also use the self-esteem boost:)
I would say my overall goal would be both short- and long term. I would love to get this 50 lbs (at least!) off as soon as possible, but also to keep it off, and get more and more physically fit.
Count me in!
MagsBags 06-29-2005, 03:06 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I feel okay about my appearance. My weight isn't horrible either, but I would feel awesome if I lost about 15 lbs.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My eating habits have changed so much in the past 2 years, for the better, but I'd love to eat more fruit and drink more water. Also, I need to feel guilty about the amount of convenience food I buy, yet I don't. That has to change! :D
Why you want to make some changes
Well, for overall health and not to be overweight (according to my doctor, my idea weight would be 148 for my height, 5'5).
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
It's a short term goal. I'm working towards 145 lbs. now. When I get there, I'll reevaluate. But I'll be 3 lbs. away from my "overweight" weight, and I'll be good with that. Long term goal is 130-135. I'm allowing myself 5 lbs. fluctuation when I get to be that weight.

- How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance? I honestly don't think about it much at all, however the times that I do I feel like a cow (:cowwave:). I feel disgusting and repulsive.
- How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? My biggest problem seems to be that I don't eat. When I do eat, most of the time I eat well. But I didn't for a long time (mostly not eating then binge eating when I realized I hadn't eaten in a couple of days). I'm getting better at eating regularly and have been consciously trying to eat better so I'm feeling pretty good about my eating habits of late. I know there's room for improvement still so I also feel hopeful.
- Why you want to make some changes? I want to be healthy. I want to live to see my daughter grow up and have children of her own. I want to feel better about myself. I want to not be an embarassment to my daughter as she gets older or to my husband. I want to finally end the internal/external conflict of how I feel vs how I look.
- Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term? The ultimate long term goal is to be back down to 125ish pounds, but I also have the "I want to shop in real stores and wear cute clothes" (even though I'm 35) thing going on in my head The immediate short term goal is to get to 240 pounds. I'm not sure what my current weight is because I don't weigh myself daily (it took me more than a year before I'd even buy a scale but I finally broke down and did!), but last time I logged my weight it was 252 (the highest I've ever been was 280ish).

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I have never been this big. I hate not being able to buy clothes that I like and feeling fat and out of shape.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
Food is a source of comfort for me. I "deserve" a treat etc. I never exercise, and I know I need to.
Why you want to make some changes
I want to get off the blood pressure medicine. My knees hurt all the time. I can't keep up with my girls. I want to be a good example to my 2 daughters.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
This has to be long term.

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I don't feel good, but not bad either. I'm 5'2" and started at 182 lbs. I'm down to 165 lbs. right now, but want to lose another 25 lbs. To my mind I still look fat in the mirror. I'd like to be able to wear a size 10 petite again.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits are actually pretty good these days. I did a major cleanup of them this last winter and spring. I had the help of a nutritionist.
My real problem is exercise. I am so lazy. I am also a social exerciser, and I can't seem to find anyone willing to exercise with me. I like walking, but it gets really cold here in winter, so I need motivation to do some indoor exercising.
Why you want to make some changes?
I am way too heavy for my family medical background. Health is the main reason.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
That size 10 petite above. And 130-140 lbs.
babetteq 09-08-2005, 05:23 AM I'd like to join up too. Now that I've quit smoking I need to start dealing with other health seeking behaviours!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I think I'm cute as a button, but about 90 lbs overweight (when did *that* happen???!!!)
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
anything crunchy, salty, creamy, buttery, rich, pastry, in a shell, in a biscuit, toasted, ....... that's what this little grrrl is made of....
I eat in the evening, my portions are too big, but I do eat a wide variety of whole foods and very very few processed.... just too much of it with butter!!!
Why you want to make some changes
-Planning a family - need to lose weight to decrease risk factors in pregnancy
-I'd like to at least *try* to buy clothes off the rack. I'm 6' tall, so even at a reasonable weight it's a chore, but with a big ol' tummy it's darn near impossible.
-it will help with my back problems
-to become even cuter than i already am.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
-short term goal - to lose about 15-20lbs before November in a sane and reasonable way without dieting, but perhaps adding more vegies.
-Long term goal - to get into good shape *even* with a pregnancy and become a very active person.
Where do I get those count down thingy's people have on their signature. I'd love to have one for weight loss.
Babs
blink041 09-08-2005, 07:19 AM I'm following babs around this morning haha. I'd like to sign up too--I've never had a weight problem until the past 3 years (also turned 40 this year) I should eat better anyway.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
terrible--i've never had this problem before and i've "outgrown" all my clothes
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
my eating habits are horrible since i live by myself and don't have to cook for anyone else so i just eat what i feel like. i also eat way too much sugar and snack foods--potato chips, just cant eat one.
Why you want to make some changes
to feel better-and look better (more like my old self)
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
to be 95lbs again--thats my weight i feel good at (im 5' tall)
silkmomj 09-08-2005, 01:16 PM This is new to me.....any kind of forum posting....so hope I do it right.
How I feel about current weight and/appearance:
I have gotten to the point where I feel unhealthy. It interferes with life in general. I have MS and I know it makes the fatigue worse. I am also a caregiver to my husband and being heavy makes it harder.
How I feel about my eating habits and problem areas:
I eat when I feel stress. My husband has health issues, and there are also financial stresses. I need to change what I do when I feel stressed. Oh.....and I LOVE food.
Why I want to make some changes:
I want to feel better.
short term goal:
I would like to lose 20 lbs. in the next 3 months or so, by Thanks giving.
long tern goal:
I would like to be back into "normal" sizes, and stay there. I would like to have a new activity that I do when I feel stressed, and learn to manage the stress better. (I have to laugh as I read that as I am a nurse, and I know "what" to do to manage stress.....I just need to figure out how to help myself do it.

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
-I feel okay about it. My highest weight a couple years ago was 215. I've slowly been losing weight and now I am at 155.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
-Lately I have not been eating good. Too much night snacking/grazing too. Lower stomach is my worse problem area.
Why you want to make some changes?
-My health and to just feel better physically and emotionally. Was diagnosed last year with rheumatoid arthritis and need to be in best possible conditioning since my children are so young.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
Goal within the next year is to weigh between 135 and 145.
Cindy
hollyhill 11-10-2005, 01:49 PM I have been having a stressful time lately and after thinking about it I have decided that I need to do something for ME. With no funds and little extra time I was having a hard time deciding what I could do.
Well I have decided I want to loose weight and exercise. I have been very tired and this would definately help. I want to be in much better shape next spring and have more energy. Dh will be having his deadlines on his projects and his finals and money will be at an all time low! So I need to feel alot better.
I also have a thyroid problem and so I really should watch every morsel that touches my lips (for the rest of my life)because I gain weight just looking at something scrumptious. :D So even though it is my goal to loose wieght the real goal is to keep it there! I lost 20 lbs two years ago and then everything went wrong and I stepped on the scales and gained 30lbs!!!!
So I want to loose 30 lbs and get my energy back.
So I need help and ideas. I need suggestions for a very frugal diet menu.
Also, the problem is Dh is as thin as a rake right now and my children are all thin too. So they need a high calorie diet but I don't:( .
So I plan to eat very small portions. Any other ideas?
Also, how to I put on of those sticky tape things on the bottom of my post so I can track my weight on line?
homesteadmamma 11-10-2005, 04:24 PM Holly your in.
To get a siggy in your signature line, hit any siggy here. It will take you to the website and you can make one. Copy it. then go to user cp here (it's at the top of the page) and go to change profile. Scroll down and you'll see a spot where it says "signature", paste it there. It should then be in your signature line.
If you need any extra help, shout!!
mom22grls 11-10-2005, 05:06 PM After much internal debate, I'm facing my problem & asking to join this club. I'm afraid of failure & accountability. This is a very hard subject for me. I was always thin as a rail as a teen. I got pregnant with Ashleigh and started at 95 lbs. Over the past 10 years, I just started gaining weight. I lost 40 lbs right before I got pregnant with Miss K.....got pregnant....got a little fat....lost a bunch......had health issues & switched BC pills....got really fat. I switched pills again after a long arguement with the nurses at my dr's office & now I'm just done. I am tired of putting hormones into my body that do such bad things to my emotions, and body. That was a couple of months ago, and here I am. I haven't lost an ounce since, in fact I'm still slowly putting more on. I'm bigger than I've ever been besides pregnancy.....and I'm not too far from that weight.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I'm embarassed, ashamed & I don't want to go anywhere because I don't have anything to wear.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I have little self control & snack out of boredom or emotional soothing.
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be attractive for my husband. I want to have my energy back. I want to give Miss A a good example. I want to feel good again.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
Overall goal is 40 lbs off. That'll put me at a healthy weight for my size & I'll be able to wear my old clothes again. :) I'd like to be at 125. Term-wise, I ought to give myself 'till July. That's 9 months to lose 40 lbs.
I'm nervous. I'm afraid I'll just give up.
hollyhill 11-10-2005, 09:09 PM Welcome, Jamee.
We have similar weights to lose. I will appreciate the company.
I will be weighing daily and po
hollyhill 11-10-2005, 10:37 PM ooops, that didn't work, hmmmmm. Have to try something else.
dwallyfam 11-10-2005, 11:19 PM Can I join? I need to get busy on the weight loss and eating better
Jojaby 11-11-2005, 05:50 PM I'll definitely join
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
My stomach is too big and flabby and everyone always asks me when my baby is due even though I'm not pregnant :weeping: It really makes me sad especially when hubby starts giving me a hard time about it.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I reach for sweets - love eating out and can't get enough Coca-Cola. I need to integrate more fruits and vegetables in my life and drink more water.
Why you want to make some changes
Because I want to look better- I want to have more energy and I'm tired of having constant headaches.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
To loose about 20 pounds - to eat healthier - to not have to take Excedrin Migraine daily - to have enough energy to get housework done without burning out halfway through the day.
:weeping:
Renee-2kids 11-11-2005, 09:14 PM I'm joining. I've got to do something.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I don't like how I look. I've got a huge flap of fat that hangs over my c-section scar. I'll probably always have some of that, but not this bad I hope. It looks like I just gave birth and the last baby is almost one!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I reach for the sugar when I'm stressed. On a hectic day I eat nothing but junk.
Why you want to make some changes
I want to have more engergy. I want to live to see my kids grown and I want to grow old with dh. I want to be able to do things in my (hopefully early) retirement. I'm 36 years old, am on 2 blood pressure medications and just started Lipitor.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I want to wear size 12.
I want to join too!....
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Well...to be honest, I hate the way my body looks....I was asked "Are you expecting?" at the gas station last week (baby belly that I never did anything about) and I have what I call "Office Chair Butt"
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I tend to eat high carb foods and a lot of Pepsi. At work when I get the "munchies" I tend to grab a bag of chips....I need to start packing carrots (etc) to eat as snacks
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be able to participate in sports with my kids (Cheerleading with the girls..etc) and I just don't have enough energy to do that sort of thing anymore
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
I am currently 141.5, I want to get back down to 110 and keep it that way (I was about 100 lbs when DH and I got married)
Tara2126 11-13-2005, 09:58 PM I'd love to join!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I feel terrible about it. I am unhappy with just about everything about me.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits could definetely be better. I have been making small changes over the last 2 weeks. I used to pick up candy at every store we went to, we were eating out WAY too much, etc
Why you want to make some changes?
I'm tired of being fat, tired, feeling un attractive
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My short term goal is to lose 5 pounds in November :)
Minner77 11-24-2005, 01:32 AM I want to sign up! But I don't think I have the guts!
Weight is such a huge issue for me. I'm miserable, and so is my health (and meds I take for other issues don't help!).
I'll be back to answer the "official questions" as soon as I'm ready to lay it all out. I know it would help so much.
In the meantime, know that I'm cheering us all on!
Blessings,
Mary:bang:
ACEHearts 11-29-2005, 10:49 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
I'm really getting frustrated with myself. I know I can do better, but I'm turning into a couch slug.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
They suck *sigh*. I must admit I love good food... and lately I've been digging into the chips and dip more than usual, and it's showing up in how my clothes fit.
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to fit into all the pants that a friend gave me when she went through her major weight loss journey last year (I was pg and couldn't join her at the time). I have all these great clothes that don't fit, and those that do are getting tight. NOT GOOD!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Get moving. Get the treadmill out and USE it. USE the bowflex we bought! I know if I can start using both of these, I'll be motivated to continue, and I will see results... I just gotta do it.
crazymomto1 12-15-2005, 04:28 PM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance:
I feel horrible about my weight and appearance. I will tell everyone my stats because it is part of facing it for me. I weigh 244 and am in a size 22. :( I gained 146 lbs when I was pregnant with my son. I was so happy that I didn't really worry about my weight gain until it was way too late. I lost 70 lbs right away when my son was born and lost another 80 doing Atkins last year but unfortunately gained the 80 back plus some when I went off of Atkins. So now I belong to a gym and have a nutritional advisor. My son is 5 now so I have no excuse for it. I need to get in shape. I want to get pregnant again and I can't when I'm this unhealthy.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
I am disgusted with myself. I can eat more than my husband (and he can EAT!!!) I eat all the wrong foods (Sweets) and way too many of them.
Why you want to make some changes:
I want to be healthier and happier so that I can be a better mother and wife.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
My overall goal is too lose the last 100 lbs or get back to a size 8..I'd rather reach the size goal than the weight goal. I want to change my whole way of eating and living. I want to work out in some form everyday and make healthy food choices.
catzz64 12-25-2005, 02:41 AM Please count me in!!!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
My current weight is horrific! It is nearly the highest I have been ever other than pregnant. My appearance and self-esteem definately suffer.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
As most of you above have stated, my habits are not good right now. I know better but with low self-esteem it doesn't seem to matter. I also am glucose intolerant and at times actually go diabetic and do crave and eat/drink excessively. I actually had lost 43 lbs last year and kept it off until about 3 months ago when I was overly stressed and lost control.
Why you want to make some changes:
My health is my biggest concern. I am disabled due to fibromyalgia and arthritis, and I am only 41. I have an 18 month old son and an 11 yr old son and it drives me crazy that I can't do all the "mom" stuff most moms do. I am also, as I noted above extremely high risk for diabetes. I had gestational diabetes quite severly with the last pregnancy and it runs in our family. I am over 100 lbs overweight and just not "healthy" anymore. I need to be around for my kids.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
Short term is to correct whatever is causing my severe anemia and to take off enough weight to control my blood sugar without thinking about it so much.
Long term I would like to take off enough weight to be comfortable and to be able to play with my children without pain, and that most likely will add a few years to my life as well.
jzkitten 12-29-2005, 05:05 PM Sign me up please. this is part of my 2006 goal.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
Awful, I have no self esteem and a lot of it has to do with my weight
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
Bad, I don't eat breakfast, just a pot of coffee and from there it's downhill. I eat too much carbs but going w/o causes severe headaches, eat very little veggies and little fruit
Why you want to make some changes?
I'm tired of being fat, clothes not fitting and the size I wear you can't find in stores cheaply
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Short term is to lose 10% of my weight-about 28#
Long term is to lose 128#
mrsaboyer 12-31-2005, 07:45 AM I have a 10 month old baby and need to lose those last 15 to 20 lbs that I gained. I started out at about 150 and went up to 205 while pregnant. At 5'3", that's a lot. I'm down to 155 now, but need to be 135-145 to be at a healthy weight. It's tough, because my husband really likes me with some "meat" on my bones, so I am having a terribly hard time with this weight. Also, it's snowy and cold here, so I can't go out and walk like I used to and my daughter will NOT let me get through an exercise tape! Okay, here go the questions:
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance Sometimes I feel okay, but then I catch a glimpse of my double chin area and my "muffin top" (belly hanging over my pants) and I know I need to reduce!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas I am horribly undisciplined. Right now there is tons of candy and sweets in the house and I will grab a handful of peanut m&M's, for instance, every time I pass them.
Why you want to make some changes I want to make some changes because I am not at a healthy weight. Also, I see this as symptomatic of my greater problem, which is that I lack "Stick-to-it-ive-ness." I am terrible with follow-through.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term To make positive changes in my eating and exercising and to have those changes become part of my behavior pattern, meaning that this will simply be how I live from now on, not something I am doing.
dwallyfam 12-31-2005, 09:42 AM Welcome mrsaboyer and Theresa.
Jillybean 01-01-2006, 01:10 PM Count me in! It's New Years resolution day and I resolve to lose 60lbs this year. I have set a doable goal of 10 lbs a month, with all my weight lost by July....swimsuit season.
Jill
momof42003 01-05-2006, 04:05 PM Hey all... I would like to join LFL.. I really need to make an effort this year to lose the weight.. My plans are to eat more sensibley, and join Curves.. I also intend to start walking again. I have always had issues with my weight, and once I was having babies, my weight just sky rocketed.. I gained 60 with dd, lost 20, miscarried and gained back the twenty and added twenty more.. The next three births I gained and lost the same amounts, with some gain back... Since my last baby was born, I have put on some major weight.. I know that weight loss like this is not a miricale overnight success, but I like to see quick results, so this is going to be really tough on me.. Any support I can get will be so generous, and extremely encouraging.. I hope that I can do the same for all of you too.... Now to the questions at hand..
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance? I am ashamed most of the time.. I am a very large woman. Sometimes I feel embarrassed for my children when I go to their school function.. No one ever says anything about my weight, but I know some think it.....
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas? With four children to feed and a DH who loves to eat steak and potatoes, it can be quite hard to have better eating habits.. I like food, tooooo much... I like to snack late at night way after you are supposed to.. I also think that I have a big problem with portion control.
Why you want to make some changes? I am going to be 35 this May and my mom passed away at the age of 50 from lung cancer. That is only 15 years for me.. I want to make a change in my life so that I am around for my children for a longer time than my mom was for me and my siblings. It would also be nice to fit into some of those sexy little numbers for my DH and actually FEEL sexy...
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term? I feel that I would love to be able to lose 10percent which is about 36lbs by my 35 birthday which is May 3... Long term would be to lose about 185lbs.. That would put me at about 180.. I look healthy at that weight. It was the weight I was when I got married..
eulac 01-05-2006, 07:08 PM I'm in. I've been losing weight and it's been good, but I need to do more and get back on program.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
much better than I did in September because I've lost half of my first goal, but I still don't like how loose my abdomen and stomach are after having the baby and my BP is still too high and I still have bad GERD
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I love starches! I tend to eat a lot of them. I have a hard time getting in my proteins, veggies, and fruits. I also have a binge eating disorder (not bulimia though) where I zone out and go through a huge amount of food. I'm working this really hard. Lately, though, I've been getting bad at managing my total foods for a day.
Why you want to make some changes
my baby! my health is really, really bad and I want to be around for him forever!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
last September I joined LA Weight Loss using my bonus and so far it's been an excellent investment--my LAWL goal is 175, but I want to get down to somewhere between 140 and 160
rebecca 01-05-2006, 09:30 PM As far as my weight goes I never gain a pound, basically where I work were on our feet constantly and when I have a day off I never sit down. My eating and nutritional habits are terrible!! I eat way to much junk food! I need to eat healthier! I wonder why I'm so tired all the time. I know that if I ate healthier and exercised I would feel better and and more energetic! Right now all I do is complain about being tired. This is one of the reasons I would like to join this group. My goal is to eat better nutritional so I will feel like a human being again.
mrsaboyer 01-06-2006, 03:31 AM I don't have my little heart icon yet. Is there something else I need to do for it? I like my little icons.
rebecca 01-06-2006, 03:54 AM How do you feel about your current weight?
I feel good about my weight. Really have no problem there. Just have a high metabolism.
How do you feel about your eating habits?
My eating habits are terrible!! I eat alot of junk food and sweets!! Very seldom go out to eat.
Why do I want to make changes?
To eat better nutritional. My eating nutritional eating habits are terrible! I am always tired and lethargic. Probably due to eating sweets all the time. I want to feel energetic and not tired all the time!!
short term goals and long term goals?
Basically start eating better more nutritionally. Try to stay away from sweets that are not good for me and start eating fruits and other food that are more nutrional for me.
Vannie 01-09-2006, 05:55 PM Ohboy, this is definately the place I need to be. Please sign me up and in.
1 How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
Very unhappy about the way look and feel when I pass by a mirror. I do know why I got this way--I am older now and do less running around, but my eating habits remain the same.
2. How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I am not a junk food person but my eating habits are bad. My problem is that I ignore what "single portion" means.
3. Why you want to make some changes
I want to make change because this is the rest of my life and I need to stay healthy. Also, I want to feel good when I look in the mirror. Right now I feel, oh my goodness! What happened? I just ordered a longline bra for the first time in my life.
4. Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
My short term goal is to get on the right track to eating properly.
My long term goal is to look and feel healthier.
My friends say they don't know how I gain weight because the never see me eat but that's because I don't snack. But I can eat a half box of cereal
Help. I need to excersice :couch:
mizniteowl 01-11-2006, 02:54 AM I would like to join too please...
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance:
Before kids I was about 135 lbs. Now, I'm 175 lbs. I still have baby belly flab...yum. I can't wear form fitting clothes cause you can see it and it's just yucky! Thighs rub together. How fun. The first time I realized this I was horrified
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
I have horrible eating habits. I snack a lot instead of eating actual meals. I skip breakfast every day and usually don't eat until 1-2pm. After supper I snack some more and since I stay up pretty late I always eat something before bed. I'm more inclined to eat unhealthy snacks than I am to grab fruit or veggies. I never exercise either.
Why you want to make some changes
I'm very unhappy with the way I look and feel during the day. I'm always tired. I could easily nap every day and am always tired around 3-4pm but of course can't nap then unless it's dh's day off. I want to feel energized again and get healthy.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
I have some clothes that I can't fit into anymore. I'd like to be able to pull them up over my hips again and wear the shirts I feel uncomfortable wearing.
grneyegrl 01-12-2006, 12:17 PM i really need to join..i went to my first weight loss support group(it was FREE) and i once again weight over 300lbs.. i used to be over 350(360-370) but lost a lot..the weight gain was from school(crazy schedule, both work + school) and i didnt have time to cook or even eat..I ate lunch 4 day a week in my car!!! lived on coffee and even ate breakfast in my car 3 days a week(on average)
but i dont feel bad..i know i can lose the weight(i did it once i can do it again)..
i have clothing that is too big and have to get rid of it(will take to good will)and my mom also lost weight so i wont have to buy any 2x size(just undies) so im good to go
my goal weight is 145 and its ok,,im 5'7
im embarresed because im trianing for the health field and should be thinner but i know it will take time..
also how do i get my goals in my siggie..i should know this but i dont and how do i change it...
I would love to join this group, I desperately need the encouragement! and could help encourage others!
I feel awful about my current weight- I am the heaviest I have been in my life excluding pregnancy (163 lbs now). I have gotten lazy, and my body feels terrible-no energy.
My eating habits aren't too bad, except for mountain dew consumption and not enough fruit.
I want to make changes because I feel lousy. I was always very active, then a couple years ago I was in a bad car accident, was limited in what I could do for along time-I have let myself get lazy and now I am 30 lbs heavier.
My goal for now is to lose 30 lbs, but more important to gain some muscle back and lose the fat.
bamaprim 01-16-2006, 09:07 PM I would like to be a part of this group also. I have been over weight all my life. I want a life change! I want to eat healthy and get more exercise. I know this is not all about losing weight, but striving to live a healthier life. I want to do it for my husband, my family, AND for myself!
guest7 01-20-2006, 07:03 AM OKAY!! I finally signed up... I've been avoiding this one even though I know I should have joined long ago. But I didn't want it to be one of those.. 'new years resolution' things.
but I hopped on the scale and still mortified.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance.
I generally don't care what my weight is.. but when I look at my reflection- I can't believe it's me. I don't recognize myself. When I hear of another person's weight being close to mine- I think Wow! They're quite large! so I must be too! Many times I look frumpy- not put together at all.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I love sweets. I love food. I tend to eat very fast so I don't have the time to realize I'm full. So I overeat. If I actually calculated the amount of calories I eat in a day- it's no wonder I've put on weight.
Why you want to make some changes
I'm forty now. There just is no excuse! I need to shape up or ship out! Heart disease, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure run rampant in my family. I don't want to be like them. Those are controllable risks.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Short term goal: Get back into my size 14 pants. I have lots of them- getting so tight- I can't breathe! I'm left with only 2 pairs of pants I can wear.
Long term goal: get back into my size 10 clothes. I have PLENTY of the them. Not to mention that size is ALWAYS available at the thrift stores- because people consign their small clothes away.
Finally, I'd like to see and like my reflection.
missymomof3 01-20-2006, 10:16 AM Count me in too. I am not overweight but I am very out of shape. Just because someone is thin does not mean they look good in certain clothes!(or naked for that matter). I am getting married in september and I want to look as good as I can for my honeymoon night *wink wink. I also will feel healthier and more energetic.
missmollymayhem 01-22-2006, 02:06 PM I weighed myself this morning for the first time in ages. My weight? Five pounds OVER the amount I weighed when I delivered my daughter 5 years ago, Fifty-Five pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance: embarassed. I hate seeing people I knew when I was thin.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas: I don't exercise. I eat whatever's handy. Both are bad choices.
Why you want to make some changes: because I can't live like this. I'm unhappy. I have no energy.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term: Short term: lose 20 pounds. Long term: 55 pounds.
madkat2618 01-31-2006, 11:26 AM I'd like to join, too. I weighed myself at the beginning of January, and I weigh almost as much as DH!
Believe it or not, when DH & I met (15 years ago), I weighed half as much as he did. I was 99 lbs., he was 198 (all muscle, too!). He has lost some, and I gained a lot!
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance:
I hate the way I look and feel right now. I'm short, so being overweight doesn't do anything for me!
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas:
We are evening snackers--DH loves chips, so do I, but I've stopped buying them, and we have popcorn instead. If DH really wants them, he can have them, but I'll have to learn how to say no! I'm not very athletic, either, but walking doesn't take much skill, and DH can always help me with other activities.
Why you want to make some changes:
I want to be healthy--diabetes runs in my family, and I'd like to avoid it. OK, and I also want to wear cute clothes again!
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term:
I would like to lose between 40-60 pounds for the long term. Short term, to be able to buy regular sized clothes!

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I am not happy with it. I am more unhappy with the weight than the appearance. I never have been very self consious about my weight. I just know that the weight is causing many health problems.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
I feel awful. I am most likely malnurished if the truth be told. I have lived on carbs and sugars for quiet some time, but I am working to turn that around by replacing the carbs with more complex carbs and cutting as much sugar as I can.
Why you want to make some changes
I have many health issues and have just turned the big 40. I feel awful all the time and since one of my health issues is Fibromyalgia I know I can not totally feel well I do think I can manage it much more with some weightloss.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term I posted that my goal is 135 pounds, but the real goal is my health and the health of my family. I don't know if the number will ever be there but the change in my lifestyle can benefit me for the rest of my life if I just make the changes.
I have joined WW and the local health and fitness club. My weigh in is tommorow so hopefully I will have something to show weight wise. I can already tell some differences energy wise.
FrugalMomof3 02-05-2006, 02:04 PM Count me in! I have learned to start eating healthy.... cut out snacks, chocolate, cake, etc...
I do step aerobics once in a while but let me tell you it took a long 10 years for me to finally straighten up.
I started at 152 lbs and I am now down to 105 and I don't want to gain any back so I am still eating healthier and trying to cut cravings.
~Tracy~
Hollyhandi 02-10-2006, 04:03 PM Join me up PLEASE,
How do I feel about my current weight-
I am at the point where I do not want to go out in public,
I am 4ft 11 in and heading close to 175 lbs. ( my idea weight where I felt the best was 120 ) I hate to look at myself and can't stand to go past those mirror things in the department stores. I am getting very depressed about it.
How do I feel about my eating habits-
I try to eat healthy , cutting out white sugar in my diet, drinking water instead of soda. Nothing is working because i catch myself nibbling all day long. ( Especially in the winter, summer I'm outside and if I nibble its on a tomato from the garden. I eat way to much pasta but thats what we can afford.
If I had my way I'd eat fruits and veggies for breakfast and lunch plus snacks. ( fresh fruits and veggies are very expensive here in the winter )
Why do I want to make changes-
I want to be able to walk without having to rest after a couple minutes. I have heart trouble and I want to get back on track to where I was 17 years ago when I had my DS. I have no energy and I'm scared I'll have a heart attack or stroke like my DB.

How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
Why you want to make some changes
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
I have lost over 100 pounds in the last 2 years. I had gotten to where I was so depressed and didn't care I totally let myself go. Right now I want so badly to lose around 30 pounds. I do not like what I see when I look in the mirror. I have loose skin everywhere from losing the weight so fast, especially in my stomache. The dr. says that no exercise in the world can tighten my stomache but hubby thinks differently. I hate my upper arms and my upper legs.
My problem with eating habits is " I love to eat" I love meat and potatoes and I love all desserts. I find when I am bored I will eat.
My overall goal is to get to where I look nice in whatever I wear and get all my skin firm and tightened up and to totally change my eating habits.

My current weight is not an issue. I am at 125 lbs and wish to stay there. My appearance, however, is not good. I need to get rid of the flabby parts (midsection, rearend, etc...). My eating habits are not bad but have some problem areas such as sweets! I am a chocolate maker at heart and cannot resist!
My goals are to loose fat, gain a healthier lifestlye and gain a little self-control!

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance ?
My weight seems alright to me though I have weighed both more and less. I think I would be happier if my overall appearance suited my frame vs the number on the scale.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My eating habits for the most part are very well...however I am human and I do crave junk now that I've been exposed to it LOL How can one say no to tasty treats and savoury fattening dishes??? My one problem area is my stomach...Im even all over but my stomach is most prominent.
Why you want to make some changes?
Changes would be better for me and my health overall. I am diabetic therefore I will always need to monitor what goes into my body and how reacts. If I dont pay attention, I can make myself sick w/o even knowing it. I'd like to live for a long time and go and suffer through life's many up's and down's. ;)
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
My goal, to reduce the apperance of my stomach - make it protrude less if thats possible LOL. No I dont want a 'tv flat stomach' I just want to be even in appearance overall and be healthy - the apple shaped body is a very good indicator of someone potentially being diabetic.

How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance ?
I feel that I weigh to much and have lost a lot of muscle tone.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
My problem is drinking too much pop!
Why you want to make some changes?
I want to be healthier and look better.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Lose 15 pounds and regain tone.
bumplett 12-22-2007, 02:53 PM thanks Shorty - I've never noticed before - I'm glad you bumped this up. :)
An intro
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance - I'm content with my current weight, but I do know that I should be more active. I would like to work on overall health and wellness.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas - I have the eating habits of a chocolate craving maniac. :) I eat far too much junk food - I need to work on a balanced diet full of fruits and vegis and whole grains - and just say NO to the candy bar.
Why you want to make some changes - During 2007, I quit drinking all soft drinks, and I stopped smoking - My goals were to be a healthier ME - now I need to take the next step and exercise more and eat healthier.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term - to create lifestyle changes that shall last a lifetime.
Libby 12-23-2007, 10:06 PM No prob bumplett - when I first saw it, I thought it was kinda cool/fun too :) Old threads are supposed to be revisited once in a while no? ;)
As for your choc cravings - eat healthier but dont cut out the choc, only allow youself one piece a day and stick to it! Once you're able to handle the one piece a day - try to skip a day and so on to train yourself to know that you can always still have it and it always still be there later on when you're ready to eat it! ;)
amlitrocks 12-23-2007, 10:52 PM How do you feel about your current weight or appearance?
I need to lose about 17 lbs. before March 2008. I plan to get pregnant again and I haven't lost the weight from the last one.
How do you feel about your current eating habits and problem areas? I need to eat more fruits and veggies and less sweets. I need to be more consistent with exercise. I have problems with my midsection.
Why do you want to make a change? I want to have a healthy pregnancy.
My overall goal - To start at a healthy weight and exercise sensibly during my pregnancy
EmilyD 01-08-2008, 01:37 AM How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I am discouraged about my current weight and appearance. I lost some weight last year but failed to keep it off. Many health issues because of the weight as well.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
Want to learn how to live a balanced life, while eating a diet of healthy but balanced foods.. being able to eat food I like.
Why you want to make some changes
For improved health reasons
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Long term goal:
weigh 150-160 pounds
daily exercise ... walking and possibly stationery bike, a little yoga
KJayEsq 01-08-2008, 02:15 AM How do you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
My weight is actually fine for my height. However, for triathlon racing, I actually need to drop weight to make bike riding on the hills easier. My scale is currently not functioning, but I am guessing I need to drop about 10-15 pounds to get there.
How do you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
I don't eat that poorly, but I need to improve. My schedule is not a "normal" work schedule. I'm an attorney, so my schedule can have me in the office one day and then running around in some other city for part of the week. I moonlight as a karate instructor, so sometimes I don't get home at night until almost 10. That being the case, I have trouble getting a routine and tend to skip breakfast.
As for problem areas - definitely my tummy!
Why do you want to make some changes?
I'd like to get in peak condition for the 2008 season, and that is going to include getting to a race-appropriate weight. I have a tough race schedule ahead and need to get my focus back. I have let things go and need to get the disciplined again.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term?
Get a race weight of about 130 lbs and then stop putting as much weight on during the off season! LOL!
Lady_V 01-13-2008, 04:41 PM I don't want to sign up... I have to!
An intro - Some of you may know me from the forums, those of you who don't... Hiya, I'm V. I'm an eternally engaged sahm of 1 DD. I live with Fibromyalgia and have more acronym ailments than a medical journal.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance - it's everywhere, I don't know when I lost my lap... but I do know that when other Mom's were bouncing their babies on their knee, I was bouncing mine on a belly roll. The Old Man says he loves me as I am, I was overweight when we got together and he says he will love me if I stayed this way. After a shower, I look in the mirror and I want to spit... or turn off the light. I notice people look at me differently because of the weight, and some people have gone so far as to talk to me slowly... using small words... as if obesity causes a drop in IQ points.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas - My eatting habits are bizzare. I don't eat all day. I may have a cup of coffee (light and sweet) and usually don't eat a lunch and have dinner with the family. I nibble throughout the day. My weakness is chocolate... and peanut butter. Lately it's been wheat toast with pb. I don't really keep sugary treats in the house, so it's usually impulse personal sized snacks and candies. A candy bar here... a soda there... BLAH!
Why you want to make some changes - I am 35 and I want to watch my DD (7) go to the prom, graduate, go to college, finish the first grade! I want to feel better about myself. I want to feel confident in myself, I know that may sound shallow, but when the Old Man and I are doing our sheet-dancing, I should be focusing on the moment... not distracting by counting how many times the rolls jiggle.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term - My goal is to weigh 220. I know... still sounds like a lot, but when I was 'ideal' weight I looked worse than when I was a lil pudgy. I just want to be able to buy clothes in a store. "Fat Lady" clothes rarely go on sale and they are either moo-moos or hoochie wear for those in denial. I want to be able to get a pattern to make my clothes and not have to pick through the limited selection of plus sizes.
Jessesbride 01-22-2008, 03:26 PM I'm in!!!
1. How do you feel about your current weight and/or appearance?
A... I HATE it! I look at pics of me before I got preggers with my son 12 yrs ago & I feel proud that I used to look the way I did, but ashamed that 12 YEARS later I am 230 lbs (used to be 124... & couldn't GAIN over 128... MISS THOSE DAYS!) I am tired ALL THE TIME & remember that I used to have energy! There have been periods of time where I've lost weight & inches (2 yrs ago) & periods where I lost the inches but not the weight (5 yrs ago) but either by working too many jobs/having too many responsiblities or just by plain laziness. I hate being fat!!! I HATE that when I lay on my side to fal asleep, I have to have a pillow shoved up under my fat belly b/c all my fat has slumped to that side! I'm done with this alien that took over my body...:pdoff: and the sad part is that the alien in my body is ME!
2. How do you feel about your eating habits & problem areas?
A.... We've NEVER eaten all that great BUT since my dh & I got married, our weight gain has gone outta control (including my 11yr old who before we got married, NEVER had a weight problem!)! I'm talking ridiculous! We eat when we're bored, or tired or socializing or whatever! We never have eaten just to fill ourselves up & norish our bodies! I grew up on fast food, I have learned the somewhat basics of cooking but am still learning. I like to eat "nutritious food" but just don't know the options or how to cook it etc... I can pretty much follow a recipe as long as I know what the food is & what they are talking about but most recipes are annoyingly hard & in the end being so overwhelmed, I tend to just say maybe next yr! Well today is next year!
3. Why do you want to make some changes?
A... I'm tired of being fat! I'm tired of my family being fat! I'm tired of being tired ALL THE TIME! I want to look AND feel great! I want to have the energy to be with my family & to make GOOD memories (skating around the lake/ in the park etc)! I want us (myself, my son & my husband) to be healthier from now on! We also want to have another baby, but before we get preggers I want to make sure that I will be at a healthy weight beforehand so that I don't get gest. diabetes (diabetes runs in my family & dh's). When I'm done with said pregnancy, I don't want to be 300 lbs! I want to be making memories, instead of just wishing it!
4. What is your overall goal whether it is short term or long term?
A... both long & short-term goals... I want to drink H20 99% of time & anything else is a treat. I want to be down to at least 130 lbs & learn to enjoy exercising. To prove to myself that I am capable of doing this & that I can & will drop the lbs & learn to be a more healthy, more productive Wife, Mom, Woman, Person ~ for me and for my family! I want to inspire my friends and ALL OF MY family to do this for themselves!
Thanks! Sorry it was so long!
Kim
auntie2many 01-26-2008, 10:41 PM I would like to join in too!
How you feel about your current weight and or appearance?
I feel discouraged at my current weight. It is much too high. My appearance what can I say. For me, plus size clothing can only look acceptable, but certainly not attractive. I want to look like I did in the mid 1990's when I weighed 130 lbs. and ate very healthily. I also exercised for an hour minimum most days back then.
How do you feel about your eating habits and problem areas?
Some of my eating habits are positive. I drink plenty of water a day and eat fruits and veggies each day. My portions however are big and I eat some fats and lots of sweets. Those are my problem areas along with little exercise these days.
Why you want to make some changes?
For better health and appearance.
Your overall goal whether it be short or long term?
Long term goal to get to goal weight of between 130 and 140 lbs. To exercise daily and to eat healthy foods.
Short term goal to get below 200 lbs. I am not much above that now, but I think just seeing 199 lbs. on the scale again would motivate me more. To continue with my current level of water intake. To reduce portion sizes and to keep a daily food chart. I will be following the My Pyramid daily food chart guide.
Thanks to all in advance for your support and I hope that I can help you towards your goals as well.
jill5 04-18-2008, 01:05 PM My intro:
I have struggled with my weight pretty much since puberty. Actually I've never been more than 20 or so lbs overweight, but have always felt "fat". I lost a bunch of weight about 2 years ago and kept it off until this past summer when I got sick and had to take Prednisone. This horrible drug caused me to puff up and gain about 30 lbs. I've taken off about 20 of those pounds but want to continue losing and lose about 20 more.
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
I am feeling better about my weight and appearance since I've lost some weight and been better about regular exercise.
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas
My eating habits need help. I have a tendancy to eat when I'm bored. I eat a lot in the evenings. I'm trying to work on doing more stuff around the house then to avoid that.
Why you want to make some changes
I need to make changes. I want to feel better about myself.
Your overall goal whether it's short term or long term
Short term goal: lose 2 lbs this week... and the next.. and the next :)
Long term goal: 20-30 lbs lost and regular exercise and healthy eating habits established
perSue 04-25-2008, 02:49 PM I want to do this too.
An intro
-About me... i've always been on the healthier side, love to eat foods that are good for me - and actually crave them - and have always been an exercise freak. :) i love any kind of movement. I'm not great at any thing in particular, but by golly i get out there and try, and have fun doing it.
But I want something to keep track of what i'm doing, to make sure i'm doing it when i ought to and to make it a habit so that 10 yrs from now i'm still moving around and eating better. :)
How you feel about your current weight and/or appearance
-I'm ok about my appearance/weight. Sure I could stand to lose about 15 lbs more, but it's more for making a habit and keeping healthy for me. :)
How you feel about your eating habits and problem areas

EmilyD 06-23-2008, 12:41 AM I signed up for this when it was on a different place (weight loss moms), then it "disappeared", now I know where it went; so I probably have an intro here somewhere.

nuisance26 07-21-2008, 09:39 AM ~I'm finally signing up because I want that pretty little heart icon,! Maybe seeing it will motivate me to exercise every day.~
Edna_E 07-22-2008, 08:48 PM Count me in! I've already started working on it.
I am about 50 pounds overweight and have a sedentary lifestyle, and a decades-old sleep disorder. I also have been under a great deal of stress for the last few years, and it has led to some frightening medical "events", though no actual ongoing conditions (other than the weight and sleep deficit). My weight interferes with my activities. I have recently been given free reign to any kind of exercise I choose. I am trying to make better food choices and to exercise portion control. I want to work up to walking 2 miles at time and to lose 25 pound by the end of the year. So far, I am 2 weeks into an exercise program and have gained 3 pounds - still pursuing it.
chettasmom 08-02-2008, 01:53 AM Count me in..
I've gotten very "fluffy" since I busted my elbow, shattered my spine and ended up with more nerve damage in my left leg that I care to talk about..it's made it hard to do alot of things..including walking/sitting/laying down for long periods of time. I am still on a 1lb lifting restriction due to the damage in my arm. And I need a big kick in the butt to keep me on a diet..
I also need to get my blood sugar back under control. I'm an emotional eater-most times I don't even realize I'm eating stuff I shouldn't..who can pass up fresh hot bread???...
I also need to get my husband in gear because he has screwed around with our finances for too long and I'm sick of being broke all the time..I JUST NEED HELPPPPPPPPPP...
Sassyclass 09-09-2008, 01:58 PM OK, I'm confused. I signed up from the link and I'm waiting for activation email. Is this an old link, or do we even need to sign up through it?. In any case I'm in.
As to how I feel about my current weight?
Old and out of shape in a nutshell.
I'm not very overweight but I'm definaltely feeling out of shape. I'm getting married again next year and I want to be in shape. I stopped smoking almost ten years ago which is a good thing since I was diagnose with asthma 3 years ago. It amazes me that for someone who used to be such a health nut, I have done some really stupid things in my life. The older I get the more I realize everything I do has an effect on my body one way or another.
It's time to take back my life and hold myself in accountability.

Sassyclass 04-15-2009, 12:55 PM Just want to update, I'm actually at the weight I should be according to my doctor, soooo I'm going to try to concentrate on toning my disappearing muscles. I've started with my upper arms since I'm tired of seeing my meat falling off (that's what I use to tell my grandma about her arms). I want to wear those cute sleeveless tops this summer.
