Do ya love it or hate it...seems it is one way or the other, no in between.

I had a VERY open floor plan when the kids were very young, just the dinning room and Master couldn't bee seen from anywhere you stood in the house.

I would get up in the morning, turn on the lights to make coffee and up was my little one. Didn't matter if I closed his door, the sound just traveled from one end to the other.

What do you have and do you like it?

I personally like my rooms seperated! each a world of its own.

I like it when each room can take on it's own personality. I don't like to decorate each room exactly the same so an open floor plan wouldn't suit me at all.

Ours has a open floor plan, and I thought I liked it, but now find that in order for it to flow I have to use the same colors throughout my Dining Room, Kitchen & Living Room. If I had it to do again I definitly wouldn't have an open floor plan or a wall of windows in my Dining Room.

We have separate rooms with the LR being the largest. In there is TV , rolled top desk, couch, rocker, chair, puter& table& fireplace. It is the busiest room in the house and you can look down into it from the balcony above. That is about as open as I like it.
I like seperate rooms because I think everyone needs their own space every once in a while. I always feel like I am on display in large open rooms. Having walls around me makes me feel cozy.:)

Our's is open with the kitchen, LR, dining room and I really like it most of the time. I would like to have a separate dining room if I built a new house but really we are all in the same room (well dh and I now that the kids are gone!) while cooking/watching t.v.. We have lots of good conversations during that time that I think we might otherwise miss out on. So I'd say I like it, overall.
