Thought this would be a good one since its getting cold out.

Mine would be turning the heat down at night and keeping the lights off during the day.

Since we are all gone during the day, we have a timer on our electric hot water heater so that it is only on from 6-9 every morning and 5-9 at night. If we need hot water anytime it is not on, we just flip and switch to on.

Mine is to keep the temp. on the thermostat at the same level most of the time unless we really need it to be on because it is bitterly cold outside and the warm clothes we have on are not keeping us warm. Wear warm clothes in the house instead of running a the heater up .

I keep the heater turned off most of the time. Turn lights on when needed, use lamps instead of overhead triple and quad lighting (like on a ceiling fan). Turn TV off when not in the room.

Open the blinds for as much heat as will come through the shade screens.

We use a small, ceramic heater in a room that stays cold no matter how high we have the heater. Instead of over heating the whole house, we just sit near this little heater when we're on the puter and it keeps us toasty. Also hang drying clothes saves a LOT on electricity too. We keep the lights off during the day, have the blinds open, dress warmly, keep the t.v. off unless we're watching it, ETC... . I have considered putting all things that have remote controls on a light bar to turn off when not in use to kill the phantoms that run up the electric bills. They say each one of those things uses almost as much energy as having them on all the time. Haven't done that yet.

We have a coal stove that heats our house. Unless it is really windy and bitter cold, I don't have to turn the heat pump on at all. So far this year I paid $136 for coal. And, it should last me until next year. (I did have some left from last year). We are building a new coal bin in the spring or I would have gotten 2 ton. Works for us.
