I need a bit of help. My cats have done a number on our walls.
We have a mobile home and the inside walls are just a thin wall board with vinyl paper on them.
In some places the cats have managed to dig through to the stuff under the paper, thin sheetrock? Looks like that anyway. I want to paint the walls plain white. the paper is white with silver stripes.
What should I treat the walls with to pain them?
If it was a "real" house with thicker walls I would try to remove the paper but looking at this, I do not think thats possible.
I also do not think paint will stick to the vinyl stuff with out some kind of help!
HELP!!!!!!

you have to use a primer first. don't try taking it off it won't work. I know i had a trailer. and my friends sons wrote with permant markers on the walls. Just use the primer then paint over that, after you sand it down.

Exactly what I was going to say!

Just get medium grit sandpaper, you don't have to sand and sand forever, just a light overall sanding.

Then prime with a latex primer, if you are wanting a color, the can generally tint it to that color, and wa-la, the job is done!
