Ok, today's assignment is to check your tire pressure. You will need a tire pressure gauge and an air hose for this!
Look on the side of your tires. They will have the recommended pressure on them somewhere--you will see something that looks like this: 35psi. This means you need 35 lbs pressure in each tire. Uncap the valve stem and place the round head of the pressure gauge on it. Press doen. You might hear a bit of air escaping. If so, reposition the gauge until you get a little red (sometimes it's another color) stick coming out the opposite end of the gauge. It will show a gauge of numbers. The number closest to the end of the pressure gauge (where the gauge "hides" when it's not in use) is the psi in your tire. If there's not enough (probably won't be--most tires are underinflated due to neglect!), grab the air hose, position it over the valve stem, place it ON the stem and press the handle on the hose. Fill your tires (ALL of them!) untill they are at the proper psi.
This sounds harder than it is! Give it several tries--WITHOUT your kids "helping" and DH and his beer-drinking buddies hooting in the background!
