I've been so lucky tonight!!! Went out with my Son (another thread :) ) And then went to see my Mum.

When my Dad was alive he had a fetish for buying books, he would get them everywhere!!! Car boots, jumble sales, second hand book stores he just couldn't pass them up! LOL. Then he used to drive her mad because he would take home bags and bags of books and say 'Where are WE going to put them' LOL.

He has books on just about everything! Collecting toilets! False teeth through the ages!! You name it - it's there and some you'd never dream of - Brain surgery on your kitchen table!!! Where did he even FIND these books? LOL

My Mum decided she should have a sort out as she really only reads novels and couldn't possibly keep all the books that nobody looks at so .............. I was there and got to go through them, it's like a private libray! :D

I am now the proud owner of two bags of firstly sentimental items as my Dad loved books and so do I and these are HIS and - remembering I'm quite new to all this: Self-Sufficiency H/B, Health from the forest, Herbal remedies, Stone age diet, Living off nature, Alternative Medicine, Woodstoves and MANY others!!! I'm soooo excited! All for free of course.

I also have, that I would like to look at (because they were Dad's) but have NO intention of doing or keeping forever two very old books #1. The homebuilt wind-generated electricity handbook! and #2 Wind and Windspinners (?) If anybody is genuinly interested in these books (not for re-sale) but because THEY would really like them, after I've been sentimental I would be happy to pass them on to one of my dear friends - Let me know?

And also - HOPE! - In the midst of depression what a great day I've had! :D Not just getting my Dad's books, but with my Son and everything.

I am very glad that you've had a good day. I have read how down that you have been lately and my heart has gone out to you. Your dad would be happy to know that something that brought him so much joy is know bringing you joy.

You are ALL so sweet and kind here, you all have shared in my misery and my Joy.

I could never afford to pay for the gifts that this village has to offer and I am truely priviledged to be a part of this community.

I love books, too. When my Gr. Gran passed on I recieved her "Time" biography's collection. I have passed them on to my daughter and it still makes me feel closer to Gran when ever I see them, touch them, read them.

Enjoy them...and then when the time is right...pass them on to your son.
