Do you prefer to give a gift or money? Do you like it when couples register for what they need/want? Or do you prefer to pick out something on your own?

If they don't register for something or if what they did register for is just too expensive then I will give money or a gift certificate. Same here! :D PrairieRose 01-21-2003, 11:19 AM We always give gifts and love it when they register. Here where we live it's VERY easy when they are registered locally because we can just call the store and say put $25 on so and so's table for me and they will send me the bill. I do go and pick out what I want to give if it's someone really special to me though. I also keep my eyes peeled for clearance racks and buy about 1/4 of my gifts that way too. sixfreds 01-21-2003, 11:23 AM depends.... I like to get soemthing instead of money especially if it is homemade because it says they thought about us and not just stuck cash in an envelope... but I will give money or if they did a registary I will pick from there.. If I am really close I will go and find them or make them a gift Eileen heaven 01-21-2003, 11:25 AM I haven't been to a wedding for so long, i don't remember my last gift. isn't that sad. I would rather buy something they need than to give them cash. baronmom 01-21-2003, 11:28 AM I prefer gifts. But if I have no clue what to get them, I might get a gift certificate. Traci pita1213 01-21-2003, 12:03 PM i haven't been to many weddings, last one was my sister's. i usually buy them something off a registry. if they haven't registered anywhere, i buy a set of corning bakeware, either a pyrex set or a corning ware set. it's a resonably price gift so i can afford it, and it is a useful gift even if they don't do as much cooking as i do. there are times when everyone has to have a casserole pan to cook something. captclearance 01-21-2003, 12:51 PM Sometimes, some of the things on the register are so expensive.... I have looked at them and they list expensive crystal and china....... Jerseygirl 02-02-2003, 08:33 PM Here it is typical to give a gift from the registry at the bridal shower and cash at the wedding itself. I love it when the bride registers, I have sat through so many showers where the bride has received nothing she needs or likes. My cousin, moving into her first apartment after her wedding had very little of what she needed to set up house-except the great bathroom set mom and I got her and the bed in a bag set our grandmother bought her. She did get 3 coffee grinders and 4 sets of mugs ('cause someone mentioned that they drink a lot of coffee) 2 needlepoint wallhangings of their wedding date, a few handmade croquet blankets-none of which matched etc.. No one knew what her colors were etc, the poor thing, my other cousin who was engaged at that time and had said she didn't like the idea of registering went out the next day and did!! |
