I know there are some of you Ladies out there that may have young ladies in their families, so I'm asking for some help. We have an 8 yr old granddaughter in Texas and I could use some ideas on what 8 yr old girls like these days. She already has everything so it's hard to come up with good ideas. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I almost forgot, I need the ideas for a Valentines Day gift.

I don't have children myself, but my niece loves to get a gift basket. It is usually filled with things for her hair, bubble bath, comb-brush-mirror set, non-toxic nail polish, jewelry (bracelets and things) and maybe a little bag to keep it all in.

If they are into "girly" type things- the gift basket stuff is a good idea. I used to make homemade lipgloss with shortening and Kool-Aid for my dd's friends.
Also- Barbie stuff is nearly always in vogue. Big Lots sells them reasonably priced around here.
Hair scrunchines if she has long hair.
Gel pens and black paper are big hits with all the girls in our area right now-

Thanks Sunshine, I did finally break down and e mailed her Mom. I really like to figure this out myself but she has so much stuff already and I do like to send practical things.
She has another Grandma too and so it's hard not to send the same things, we did that one year. I did pick up a cup and saucer for her Birthday, (her Mom is into the collectable stuff) I found it at my favorite thrift store, got a great deal on it. The cup & saucer is the birthday month.
I do crafts too, but you know some kids are funny about that kind of stuff.

Also Giftcards are good too.

How about a sticker album and some cute stickers? I got my eight year old granddaughter some window cling paint on the Crayola site. She has been really enjoying that. Sara also posted about another company that makes window cling kits. I agree with the other gals too, a girly basket of hair boobles etc would go over big as well.

Thanks Ladies.
I did get a reply from her Mom and I didn't really care for it. Sarah is into watching DVD's only, no VHS tapes. She has short hair, so I guess hair ties are out. I am trying to be frugal about this so my options are a little limited. I did find some cute pencils with things on the end for erasers, a butterfly & a flower; a seek a word book and a small Valentine Bear with a clip on it for her backpack. I think that will be good enough for V's Day along with a small box of candy(eek). I found cards at the dollar tree 2/1.00 and I got the 18 month old a puzzle and candy (yuck, I'm not opposed to candy but didn't want her to feel left out) and got both of them a box of fruit snacks. I think I need to pick up another stuffed animal, back to the dollar store!
