How do you decide on a name for your pets? We named our Rottie Xena because our ganddaughter, Lizabeth loved that show. Boogie was named by our son. He said she was so active that she boogied around all the time. I honestly don't know why I picked Jezabell for our calico's name. I guess I just liked the name! How about you?:paw: :paw: :paw:

Peachie my dawg, was because of her coloring. Peaches and cream.

Bubbie is a long story. Her name was originally Sam. 3 vets told me she was a male. I kept telling Peachie to go get his Bubba (little brother). By the time she was spade we found out differently and the name had already stuck!!

Squeaky is for her meow, she squeaks!

Nicky was originally Natalie. I have found it is sometimes hard to tell the gender of a kitten!

Snowy's name is really Snowflake, he is pure white.

Pepe (LePew) is because he smelled like a skunk when we brought him in. And he is black and white!

Miss Prissy is from her personality! You should hear her screech when she wants something!!

Olga, I just liked the name.

Toby the same, I liked the name.

Ralphie because his mama is my friend. Her name is Pepper. When she had her litter I told her to bring her babies to me and she did! She put them under our back porch. There were 3 of them. Ralph, Alice (from the Honeymooner's) and Teddy because he looked like a teddy bear, he was all black and also had 24 toes!

Mama was because he looked like an extremely pregnant female when he came to us. He had cancer and has since passed. He was around 18 years old.

Tashi, is a shortened version of Natasha and I just liked the name. She has since passed too and was 9 months old.

My sister had Daisy for about six months before I got her so I just kept her name. I like it anyway...it really fits her.

Chloe Noelani Bear - We got the name Chloe from the old move The Ugly Dacshund. It's one of those movies that when I watch it I cry because I laugh so hard. One of the dogs in the movie was named Chloe. Noelani is Hawaiian (we lived in Hawaii and dh lived there for many years before I met him so we feel a strong tie to the islands). Noelani means 'mist of Heaven'. Bear is because she looked like a little bear cub when we first saw her when she was 6 weeks old.

Gingerbred Wahine aka Ginger - Gingerbred is because she is a red merle Aussie. Wahine is once again Hawaiian and means 'woman'.

Charlie the Big Kahuna - We didn't get to name Charlie because we adopted him from the Aussie rescue organization (he was already 15 months old at the time). We added the Big Kahuna part. Dh is a surfer and that's where that came from (remember the movie Gidget - it's just basic terminology for us LOL!).

His dad was Rocky Mountain Way IV.

My cat Halloween was so name for her coloring, she isn't with us anymore.

My cat now was a female to start with but acted more like a dog. So the kids called her Dog. Then the thing was acting like male, so sure enough, we had him neutered and he came home Really Angry about life, that and his paws were minus their claws because he was a really bad cat.

He and I had to come to an understanding one day because since having his sex change, he refused to use his litter box. I consulted this expert and that, they wanted to run tests, etc.

Then the pet store owner just laid it out: "you got a cat with an attitude and he is mad at you!....You gonna have to show him who buys the cat food."

So one day Dog got a trip out the back door mid poop. And I told him a few things during that trip outside, one of which was that he was a CAT, nothing more.

He spent the night outside, must have been scared to death, I was so mean.

Since then he pooped in his box and now rings a bell to go outside, because I removed the box after a while.

I wanted him to understand he was the CAT not a human. And when he is good, I call him Kitty.

He's a spoiled brat, but he loves his humans.

Sophie came with her anme. Since she was 9 when she joined the family, I figured she was too old to have it changed!

Gypsy's registered nameis Rangler's Burlesque Queen. She is named after Gypsy Rose Lee, who was often called the queen of burlesque. It's weird that both of my animals are named after famous strippers!

Spaz & Java were already named so I kept them. C.C. is short for crazy cat because when she was little she would attack anything & everything lol.

My cat, Toonces, who went to kitty heaven this week, was named after the Saturday Night Light skit Toonces, the driving cat. When we were bringing him home from the shelter, he jumped on my husbands lap and put both front paws on the steering wheel. And we both, immediately said "Toonces the driving cat".

My other cats, Scraps (the black and white one under my id) used to live a few houses down from us. They had a zillion cats, and I don't think she liked it there. She started hanging around us, and staying longer and longer. After she had spent the night a few nights, we decided to name her. I was looking at a book, Quilting From Scraps, and she became Scraps. We call her Scrappycat.

We found my third cat, Smudge, in a neighbors back yard when he was a kitten. He was all cream colored, with a little brown smudge on his back paw. So we called him Smudge.

Our Names for our Pets are:
Midnite for our oldest Cat is because he is very black and dark he has 3 more names other than his first one.
Angel our girl cat: I am not sure why Dh named her that
My mother in law called her Devil cat but now Angel has calmed down alot I have changed the name from Angel to Angela because that suits her much better however DD just started calling her YAYA.
Rosco our beloved boy dog who is no longer living was named Rosco because he reminded me of the Name Rosco off of the Dukes of Hazard. I gave him the name Jublie because he brought me joy and jublie during his short life .
Jewels because she is a Jewel and brings alot of mischief to our family her middle name is Cupcake and that is because she has White on her chin , her neck, her stomach and on her leg.
She is black and white and she is our girl dog.

When we decided to adopt a miniature pinscher puppie from an animal rescue organization, I started racking my brain for a name, I consulted lists of dog names on the net, got suggestions from family, etc. Then I had a "lightbulb moment". Her name will be "Penny"! So it was. She is my little "Penny Pin(s)cher" The girls
at our vet just love her name!

My dogs have been...
Rin tin tn (a cockapoo that was really my brothers-no longer with us)
Slippers (a lab mix. he had "boots" on the front and "slippers" on the back-no longer with us)
Shiloh (shepherd mix. I liked the name-no longer with us)
King (shepherd mix. Named after his "daddy" Rexi. Rex means King in latin.-9 years old now.

And finally our very first cat Scooby, my son named after his favorite cartoon. We lost Scooby last fall. Now we have Butterscotch. The Humane Society was calling him that, so we kept it. He is an orange sriped cat. ( I call him my redheaded step-child when I am mad at him. LOL)

I had a friend in highschool that named her pets after the first thing they ate. She had a cat named snickers, and a dog named cricket. :O

Our 8yr old cat is Pete. That was his name at the shelter and he answered to it so we kept it.

Our new kitty is named Pikachu. If he was yellow he would look exactly like him(the cartoon character). Well, he is growing into his face now but he knows his name so we're keeping it. He's really all gray with the brightest yellow eyes.

female cat dh named "Suss" (German for Sweet) and for the life of me i cannot pronounce it the way he says it so I called her suzy, which i have elongated to Suzy-Q when i am calling her to me. Or just plain Q when she is driving me nuts.

male cat Boogie, because he is black and white with a little black "boogie" by his nose. when he was a very young kitten and was shown to me i thought it was a "boogie" and tried to wipe it off his little face, but found out it was a marking, lol

parakeets- "Blue and "yellow" because they are blue and yellow, lol....not much imagination went into thise names i am sorry to say.

Our dog, Becky.......well because ther is a song by a singer (rap? old, from the late 80's early 90's called "Sir Mix Alot") whose song started out "Oh My God, Becky, Look at that butt"...and well she came out Butt first when she was born (and she has the biggest butt i have ever seen on a chuihuah....)

her mother Trudy, i named after a great grand mother whos passing I am still sad about. this is a shortened version of her first name (Gertrude)...she however went by her middle name. :)

And as for Arcamedis, I named him for the Owl in the disney movie "the Sword In the Stone". Arc is really smart, and a really good friend, even if grudgingly so sometimes.

we have had names for our pets that were odd all through my life...we had a cat once named "Sweet Lady MacBeth of Oreo" once oreo for short.....don't remember why the macbeth part, but the oreo part is because she was all black except for her wiskers which were white, so when she turned her head she looked like she had the coloring of an oreo cookie....we had Lenny and Squiggy (from Lavern and Shirley), we have had Nettika ... backwards spells A Kitten. the list goes on and on.

I have an all white cat named Mr. Kitty- came to the door as a stray and would not leave. It's true that animals really do pick their owners.

Then we have a dog- part Rottie, part St. Benard. He's a moose- he's 9 months old, and I say about 130 lbs. When he's full grown, I think he'll be pushing the 200 mark. His name is Peanut- he thinks he's a lapdog.

My cat Emmy was black with emerald green eyes...Emmy for emerald...Em for short. But I always called her girl. Syscodoo was actually a private joke between my brother and I when i was living in Texas....I didn't want to spell it Cisco...Sysco is my texas kitty...he had to have a macho name...his name when I got him from the shelter was Bam-Bam...much too young and juvenile a name..so Sysco it was. But of course I call him a ton of other pet names : sysco-disco, sysco kid, my little man, baby...oh the list goes on and on...

My dachshund was Ralph -- when he barked that was what his bark sounded like! My sister had a cat that we started calling Kitty until we could think of a name for him, but Kitty stuck and that's what he answered to. I told my sister we should name him Kitty Lee, as that is my aunt's nickname (her given name is Catherine Lee). My dear niece Hanna has 2 cats, Tortie and Rainbow. Tortie is named so because of the tortoise shell pattern of her fur, and Rainbow named so because she has one green eye and one blue eye, and she is a snow white cat and sheds like crazy! But both are very loving cats.
