View Full Version : Here are some of the things I have made.
SewCrafty 01-30-2003, 06:32 PM These were all made for my parents. The cross stitch ones were actually made in the 80's! The doilies were made about 5-7 years ago and the afghan was made about 1 1/2 years ago. I had to go to my parents again today and took my camera with me.
The first one is framed for my Dad.
SewCrafty 01-30-2003, 06:33 PM This is a pillow I made for my Mom.
SewCrafty 01-30-2003, 06:34 PM Here is the afghan I made, it goes with thier livingroom.
SewCrafty 01-30-2003, 06:36 PM This doily is really quite big. It is about 28" long x 16" wide. And yes Mom's Christmas decorations are still out! LOL They left for Florida the day after Christmas. I would put them away for her if I only knew where she hid the boxes!! :D
SewCrafty 01-30-2003, 06:37 PM Here are some more doilies. I know I made a lot more for her but I couldn't find them! :(

I'm sorry to quote you and  calico!! But it struck me really funny!! No my Mom does not do any of these things and has never wanted to learn. I am the only girl out of 4 in my family to do these type of things. Everything is self taught except for hand knitting, a neighbor lady taught me how to knit when I was 14. I was always the odd duck!!
Thank you for asking.
Thanks ladies, I'm gonna put a poll out and see which tutorial to do first, so make sure you vote!! :D
Sara Noel 01-30-2003, 09:07 PM You really are talented. I have got to learn to make some doilies. Yours are so beautiful. Thank you for posting the pictures. I love seeing projects everyone has done.
Labontet 01-30-2003, 09:09 PM Very nice things that you have done Diana!
I especially like the doilies. I am so envious!:)

KathiS 01-31-2003, 05:03 AM Diana, You are so talented! Your Mother and Dad are so lucky to have a daughter that gives them such lovely handmade gifts.
Missy 02-01-2003, 01:18 PM wow!!! i hope to be so talented someday!! these are beautiful, everything!
Darlene 02-01-2003, 01:33 PM Thanks for sharing Diana!Your parents must cherish the lovely crossstitch things you've made for them. I love the pattern in your afghan and the doilies are so pretty! I've tried to make the doilies before and always seem to mess up. With you teaching I know I'll learn to do it right.:)
ps. Have you ever tried tatting?
SewCrafty 02-01-2003, 01:51 PM Yes Darlene, I have tried tatting. The same neighbor lady that taught me knitting tried to teach me tatting. But I just never got it!! I was probably to young at the time, I may try again someday.
Thank you ladies, these are some of the things I love to do. When I get more time, I'll post more pics.
dolphin 02-02-2003, 01:24 AM Oh I love the green afghan and the dollies. The pillow is pretty too but I can't figure out how you made it.
I would love to learn to make the dollies and the afghan.
SewCrafty 02-02-2003, 01:39 AM Thank you Dolphin. The pillow front is made out of aida cloth (I don't remember the count) and counted cross stitch. I must still have the pattern around here some where, I don't throw anything out!! (And your siggy says your the queen of clutter, I'm running a very close second! )
The back is made out of bleached muslin, and the lace is some cotton lace I probably got really cheap. I know they sell it in Wal*Mart by the fabric counter in a plastic baggie now. I just stuffed it with fiber fill (polyester type you stuff animals with). Now they sell small pillow forms for traveling that would have fit that perfect.
frugalmel 02-04-2003, 01:27 AM Those are all so beautiful. {hugs} Thank you for sharing them. I really love the afghan clolors and pattern. My mom had one when I was little. I hated the colors (brown, gold, and orange are not my favorites especially not together) but it was so warm in the winter time.
I have a couple of doilys that my grandma crocheted. I cherish them and would like to learn myself! :)
PrairieRose 02-04-2003, 09:19 AM They are all sooooo beautiful Diana! You do such good work. My dmom and dsister are both very good at crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint......not ME! I CAN crochet a bit but do better with yarn than thread. I have lots of doillies, a few that were done by family members but most I have found at garage sales. You don't see much of that sort of thing anymore though. Thanks for sharing the photos.
