Just finished Part 1 of the Crocheting tutorial.

Well, so far I don't have any questions. You did a terrific job though. My friend Suezy2 taught me to crochet 2 years ago and I made 3 afgahns and a pillow top just using the Q hook.

Your explanations were right on the mark. I will print these out and have a whole book of instructions as I tend to forget how to do things when I don't keep at it.

I want to learn to use the small hooks like you are using so this is just what I needed.

BTW, thanks for explaining about the tapestry needles. I have 3 plastic needles and I had no clue what they were for (all the crochet stuff was my mil's). I will have to use them though till I get a job and can buy the metal one. I have a huge bin full of skeens of yarn so I don't have to buy that.

Dolphin, you certainly can use the plastic tapestry needles. I have used them before too, they are a little larger than a size 16, so you may have to wiggle it around alittle when we get to weaving in the ends. If you have yarn, by all means use it up!! This coming from a woman with as much yarn as I have fabric!! Buckets and buckets of it! :yikes: :laugh:

You did a good job, explaining all that stuff. I have been crocheting for years & still can't hold my crochet hook that way. But my way works for me.:)

Got my supplies today. Had trouble finding a tapestry needle. The lady said that the needlepoint needle would be close enough. Is that true? I look forward to getting started with this. :) (just gotta get caught up on my quilt block first. LOL)

Cody, I agree, as I am self taught myself my fingers are close to how they say to do it but not quite. I say find however it feels comfortable and hold it that way.

Mel, yes a needlepoint needle will work, the eye is a little smaller. You will just have to pinch the end of the yarn to get it through the eye is all.
