Dixie 02-04-2003, 11:16 AM I miss yard sales, too! I can't wait 'til yard sale season. I think the best deal I ever found at a yard sale, was a Cuisinart food processor. It was new in the box , I paid $20, but it would have cost around $300 in the store.:D
Heather 02-04-2003, 01:08 PM I think my best buy was a 1940's singer sewing machine (black)in cabinet for $5.00!!! I couldn't believe and even offered them more!! It works and everything...I love it!!:)
mylittle4 02-04-2003, 01:31 PM Oh my gosh I am missing them so much right now too! I got a telescope with tripod and lenses and everything for $25.00. We had been considering buying one for quite a while.6 pairs of Tommy jeans for dd1 for $3.00. After she outgrew them I sold them on ebay for $21.00. Little tykes table and chairs for $3.00 and a step 2 easel for $1.00.
paelthom 02-04-2003, 02:20 PM Ladies I wish you were closer to me. I will be having an indoor yard sale towards the end of the month. I have finally finished moving most of my stuff to SO's farm and am hoping to rent out the house in town once the yard sale is over. I can't believe how much stuff I have to sell and most of it came from yard sales. I am ready for the spring/summer yard sale season to begin. Probably my best buys was one of those giant wooden playhouse/swing set combo things. It was huge. I paid $50 for it and am sure it would have cost several hundred new. Also I got a free couch at one sale if I would just get it out of their way. The fabric was a lovely ivory and it was in excellent condition. I have used it for over 4 years and I am hoping to sell it at my indoor sale for $100. Wish me luck.

justjenn 02-04-2003, 03:45 PM O, I can't wait to go to the yard sales here. Our community has a lot of them too! I didn't get to go last year, but sure plan on it this year.
The year before I got about 25 plates for $1-total. That was the best I have ever done! Of course, that was my first year to go, as well. :)
paelthom, o, I wish I did live near you! Would be neat to see what you have.

AmyBoz 02-04-2003, 04:30 PM My best find (so far...I'm gonna do better this season!) was a like-new entertainment center unit that we bought and use for dd to store her books in. It's low to the ground so it won't tip over on her like a regular bookcase, and it had lots of storage for tall books (old record compartments) and plenty of shelves for the rest of her books. $10
guest2 02-04-2003, 05:36 PM :smball: I can't wait for yard sale season to begin again here!
I've gotten so many good deals over the years including a free juicer, grain mill grinder for $7 (the exact make and model on my sih list), a captain's bed with bookcase headboard, drawers underneath and mattress for $30 (really well made out of hard woods), and antique hutch $30, an antique hanging wood mirror with beautiful carve wood frame $12, my huge maple dining room table $50, lots of brand name sweaters, jeans, dresses, shirts, suits for the whole family, antique china sets (Haviland brand), lots of old linens, beautiful books, sleds for dirt cheap (found the same ones selling in the antique stores for over $100), needlepoint and hand stitched pictures, lots of videos and...well...this list could go on and on!!!! LOL! I've also been having fun buying things for my 2 year old niece since she is the only little girl in the family.:D
PrairieRose 02-04-2003, 06:03 PM I've gotten all sorts of furniture, housewares, etc...I can't think of my BEST deal ever....I have cold meds brain. I'm gonna think on that and get back to you.....Oh I can't wait till they start either!
couponchic 02-08-2003, 08:13 PM I, too, am anxiously awaiting yard sale season as well as the warm weather. Can't think of the best deal that I have gotten right off hand as my brain is so tired.
:sleepy:
aylasmommy 02-08-2003, 08:27 PM Our all time best deal would have to be the painting we bought. It's a pastel oil painting of a place in France...it's HUGE so it makes up for us not having a headboard. It cost us 20$ (or 25$?) Shoot just our tiny little reprint hanging pictures cost that much
crdurham 02-10-2003, 02:36 PM I can't wait for yard sale season here either. It usually starts in March so not long now. I didn't go much last year, but with baby on the way I am going to be scouring the sales this year.
I have gotten some great stuff, trying to think....I got a Aigner purse for $1, was brand new. All kinds of great clothes and shoes. I got two handmade quilts at a yard sale last year for $4.00 a piece. They are beautiful...that would have to be my best find.
This board will really feel up come yard sale season...lol...
Katybird 02-11-2003, 01:28 PM I have gotten many great finds over the years. I got a large Nesco roaster in great condition at an estate sale for $3.00, vintage pyrex colored mixing bowls for .50cents, other pyrex serving bowls including divided dishes with lids for .50 or less each. My best buy was a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt top that I paid .50cents for at a garage sale and sold on eBay for $50.00. I have found lots of great clothing for the whole family for a little bit of nothing.
Ohhhh, I can't wait for garage sale season :D .
Blessings,
Kathy
