View Full Version : Look at what the DH dragged home
Missy 02-08-2003, 02:52 PM LOL, Dh is so proud of this electric organ he was given. A friend of his gave it to him because that friend's wife said it took up too much space and it had to go....so after i had just finished some decluttering in the living room, what does he come home with? LOL, oh well.To tell the truth, I am excited about it too. It came with sheet music and a book of music, the bench, a rhythm box (???). I don't know much at all about it, but it has a name on it "the Virtuoso" (is it a brand or model?) and there is a label on the back with the date of (hard to read) 1968, although it could be 1958 or 1988, i cannot tell. It also says Lowrey on it. Does anyone know anything about these? (WE don't even know how to play it so we have no clue about it, the previous owner doesn't either, lol, we asked)
SewCrafty 02-08-2003, 03:09 PM Lowery is the maker or brand name. Other than that, I don't know anymore. Someone here gives piano lessons maybe she will know. I think it is AmyBoz.
Sara Noel 02-08-2003, 03:14 PM I don't know a thing about organs except that Lowry is a great brand name company for organs.
I think it's a great deal.
We have an electronic keyboard here that Zachary loves to play. One of the best purchases we made for him.
homesteadmamma 02-08-2003, 03:50 PM You have a wonderful piece of furniture there. I love it.
AmyBoz does teach piano I think so she might be one to ask.
Darlene 02-08-2003, 04:42 PM I don't know anything about them but Congratulations.:)
PrairieRose 02-08-2003, 04:52 PM Looks like a very nice organ. WTG!
AmyBoz 02-08-2003, 05:39 PM Melissa, I do teach piano lessons, but I'm unfamiliar with "the Virtuoso" model of Lowery organs. I e-mailed the company with all of your information about the organ, and as soon as they give me any information, I'd be happy to pass it along to you! ;)
voodidit 02-08-2003, 06:02 PM Very nice, it looks a lot like the one my dgf had before he passed.I used to loved to hear him play.
Missy 02-08-2003, 07:50 PM Thanks so much AmyBoz! I appreciate it! Thanks everyone!
Mom23boys 02-08-2003, 07:57 PM WOW! What a great find for DH! I don't know how to play one either, but would take it.
dz_blonde_girl 02-09-2003, 10:14 AM Wow! That is exacly like the organ my dad brought home when I was a kid! That is so cool. The date probably is 1968 then! Gosh, I don't remember how to play it though.
Katybird 02-11-2003, 01:32 PM Melissa,
That is a lovely piece of furniture. Isn't it great to get nice things for free? :D .
Blessings,
Kathy
Heather 02-11-2003, 01:48 PM Wow, lucky you!!
AmyBoz 02-11-2003, 08:59 PM Melissa, Here's the response I got:
Amy,
Your friend likely has a TS series 'Tempest' organ dated 1968. The 'Virtuoso' was a smaller-sized keyboard that Lowrey developed that could be added to existing models to facilitate (mainly) the playing of arpeggios. Several of the Tempest model organs from the late 1960s featured the Virtuoso as standard equipment.
You may be able to obtain a copy of the manual and service parts by contacting www.organservice.com <http://www.organservice.com>
For additional assistance, let us know in what city you live and we can refer you to the nearest authorized Lowrey dealer.
Regards,
Frank West
frugalmel 02-11-2003, 09:33 PM That is too cool! :) I took 6 years of Piano and my teacher also taught Organ but I never got to learn it. Enjoy your new instrument. :)
