CJ, thanks so much for the recipe!!!! This house smells fantastic!! Here are the loaves i did following your recipe....they rose like mad!!! I didn't have them far enough away from each other in the oven so they touched, but it's ok, they smell great! Can't wait till they cool enough to eat a slice! LOL, the dough rose so much it came up and over the sides of my biggest bowl before the first punching down...a deep bowl 13 inches across. the loaves themselves are 7 inches high!!! LOL, maybe i should have made 3 loaves instead, huh? Could it be the altitude? Anyway, thanks so much for the recipe, I can't wait to share the bread with the family!!!!

Great job!! I love it. Yes, you could have made 3 loaves and it would have worked out great too.

Congratulations - there is nothing like fresh baked bread, which reminds me, thats what I need to be doing right now, is baking bread.

Thats what happens here too, Melissa! Tyler even loved this batch... he kept saying "nother one". lol

Darlene and voodidit.... you can do it! It isn't all that difficult. I make the Amish White Bread recipe. I posted it in the Community Cookbook as well as in the Bread forum here. Homestead mamma has posted alot of good ones as well. Try it... I bet you'll like it. :)

I agree with Sherry. Bread making is simple and easy and once you start, you'll always do it. The break making tutorial is done in a very simple way, so anyone can try making bread.

I always say, if you fail, so what. You get up and try again. My first loaf of bread, if I had dropped it would have made a huge hole in the floor. Poor dh, he ate it just to make me feel good, but I said "never again". But I did try and it took me a bit to get it right, but now my family hates it when I purchase boughten bread.

Another little secret MrsEngeseth, is to make a couple loaves of bread and with the rest of the dough, make buns. If you think bread goes fast, well the buns don't last at all. The neat thing about making buns, is you can make them small, shape them into hamburger buns or whatever shape you want. I always make a batch of buns just for the kids - they love them fresh out of the oven with butter on!!

I make bread probably twice a week. Never had a dough rise so wonderfully as this recipe. DH said we have our new recipe, and is on a hunt to find and destroy our old one! LOL. When I first started making bread, I was intimidated too, it seemed to take soooo long, with all the rising, and the kneading seemed to never come to me the way it did to other people. But after trying and trying again, I learned to knead. and have found end product makes it time is well spent. (I use the kneading time to think about things i need to do, etc, gets me "centered" and "back on track". the kneading and whole process is a great "me" time.) This recipe is certainly going to be one of our favorites. Thanks!
