DD, my neighbour and myself went into the nearest town to the Basement boutique this morning. There wasn't much there, but I did get:

2 spring/summer tops for dd for $2.00.

We then decided to go the antique/junk/everything store just down the street. I had been watching this meat grinder for about 4 months and the price was always higher than I wanted to pay for it, $30.00. Today it was marked down to $20.00 with all the attachments. I'm now the proud owner of it. Now we can grind the fish and make fish patties and we can now make our own sausage and hamburger from deer meat.

I also picked up another oil lamp for $9.00, a little high but in perfect condition. It will sit in the kitchen and will use it on a daily basis. I love oil lamps.

Now I can hardly wait for yard sales to start. I'm on the hunt for a butter churn and 3 washing boards. I want to make the table Sara had in one of her threads.

Carolyn, my washer is in the kitchen, so I'm going to put it right beside my washing machine, and put a fern on it also!!!

I agree, you can't have to many oil lamps!!!

That is a great buy CJ. It will be great to be able to make your own burger and sausage. The oil lamp will be a great addition to your kitchen. I love them too. I have noticed that when I use mine I tend to get a sooty film on my ceiling if I use them too much. Is there something that I am doing wrong or is it just the oil I am using. I usually buy the lamp oil from WalMart.

Kathy - actually yes it is the oil you use. The cheaper oil tends to do that and when I use the cheaper oil, I actually get sick from the smell.

I purchase my oil from candle stores - its a bit more expensive but its worth it to me. We use to get it at Walmart or $$ stores. Not anymore.

Also, if you have a lower wick, you shouldn't get any sooty film on your ceilings. We use ours all the time and since purchasing better quality oil, we've had no problems.

Great find CJ!!! I am glad you were able to get it at a cheaper price.

We have one also and like Sherry, have never used it. I guess I need to get it out and do something with it.
