Come April dh's pay will be monthly. I thought it was rough biweekly and now we will be adjusting to monthly. I keep telling myself, it shouldn't be too different because it's the same amount of money, but I can't help feeling anxious over this new change.
Anyone else budget monthly salary?
I guess if I get a good system working, it may be a great thing.

We have always done our budget based on a monthly paycheck. The most important thing is not to spend the money designated for a specific bill before it arrives. (Sounds obvious, I know. But, that actually took a while for me to figure out. LOL)
We have done two things to help make sure this doesn't happen. They may or may not be practical for you. The first thing we did was to work to get our bills placed on a schedule where they come early in the month. This way we are not waiting around for any particular bill.
The other thing we did is to establish a separate checking account for household expenses. When I do the budget at the beginning of the month, I write a check to this account. I use that money to buy groceries, pay for school lunches for DS, dry cleaning, and incidentals that come with running the house.

Sara, I budget monthly. A website that helped me out tremendously was organizedhome.com. Because of that website i not only got a monthly budget figured out....but i also started a price book.......helps a ton! :D

I am thinking that it may work out really well. I know we will be more cautious with spending, so that can't be a bad thing. :)
I think it will be a good thing to be able to write out the bills once a month vs twice. We are planning on opening a separate acct for grocery money only. May seem silly, but I want to know that money is there. *LOL*
We are fortunate that my husband does a lot of freelance work from home, so that should help a lot too.
Thanks for the replies. :)
