I am not sure if my stains are from hard water. They are a pretty aqua color...just not so pretty for a shower LOL

I found this idea from the book "Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean"

Take a DRY SOS pad and gently rub the stains off the DRY walls of your shower. The pad and walls must be dry, or the steel wool will scratch. I have tried all sorts of cleaners, including CLR, and this is the only solution that has worked for me.

Try it! :D

Wow, thanks! I wonder if it would take my lovely rust stain under the faucet off? Hmm I'll have to try it. :)

I remove hard water stains with WHITE VINEGAR....spray it on, let it set, then wipe it off. It works great.

Also: to remove those rust stains (and I had an old, old claw footed bathtub) mix and make a paste of PEROXIDE and CREAM OF TARTAR. Smear it on, let it sit overnight, then rinse off in the morning.

When we had our water tested when our well was put in- the report talked about what the different color stains are from. Pink and brown stains are from high amounts of Iron or Manganese in the water, green is from Copper and Lead usually from the pipes in your house, and Lead makes grey-black stains. I thought that was kinda interesting.

I too, use the SOS pad trick in my toilet, since we have high iron here. For my tub, I use Lysol tub, basin and tile cleaner. I squirt it on, and let it sit while I'm cleaning the kitchen. Then I go back and wipe the tub clean. It's the only thing I've used that works. In the past, before I discovered that stuff, I used to use oven cleaner- I recommend the fume free ones, though LOL!

I will try the dry SOS pad trick next time, it will save me a ton of money by not having to buy Lysol!! Thanks!!
