What do you do? Do you nuke it? Melt it? I have always wondered if I am melting and should be "softening". *LOL*
Ok, kinda silly question, but you guys know that I am cooking challenged.

Softened butter is not the same as melted butter. To soften it, you can either leave it on the counter for a couple of hours, or use the microwave-in increments of 10 seconds. The texture of whatever you're making will not be right if you use melted butter. I find leaving it on the counter works best.

I had been microwaving it for about 30 seconds. It melts two sticks partially and leaves it somewhat solid too. After doing this for so long, I thought this is melted not softened. *LOL*
