I have to confess... husband is the better cook. He was single to the age of 42, cooked for himself most of that time and did not use a lot of convience foods.

I was born and raised on boxes of this and cans of that, so when we got married.. "cooking" to me was hamburger helper and a can of green beans

He likes to experiment, add different spices or things.... and must have had a few "oops" cooking experiences because he can fix things if I goof them up

I do the majority of cooking here, but dh is the better cook. I cook simple and traditional type meals. He makes anything that requires any type of cooking skills. *LOL*

He worked in a few restaurants, as well as his family owning one, so is definitely more knowledgeable.

**Are you reading this Gabe? Make me some soup! *LOL* **

We had a little bake off here a couple months ago. His cookies were not too good. muwhaha.

Dh makes a great omlet, but otherwise makes nothing but a mess so my kitchen is off limits.

Here Here! My DH is definitely the better cook. He can cook anything and make it taste like Mom's, but he is such a slob in the kitchen that I refuse to clean if he cooks...so guess who gets to do all the cooking!

Gregg (aka Hubby) couldn't find the kitchen with a map and directions. Need I say more?

Me hands down. When we met dh didn't know how to cook anything. Now he can make mac and cheese and open cans.

I would say we're equal--though he is more creative and adventurous. I prefer to stick to recipes, which he hates to do. This is why I am the baker of the family, and he can't bake to save his life

We are also pretty equal. He hasn't poisoned me yet, and he has survived my cooking LOL!! Honestly, he does awesome with the grill, so in the summer, he gets to do pretty much all the cooking. He also does a great job with making breakfasts- like omlettes, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs with sausage or bacon. I'm not a horrible cook, but I'll let him cook for me any day!!

I am getting better but he has done more cooking in his life so he is the better cook.

Me, definitely. There are very few things in which I'd toot my own horn like this, but DH will openly admit the same.

In the 8 years we've ben married, DH has cooked me one meal - for our first married Valentines day. He made me box lasagna, mac and cheese, and carrots. So, I'm the better cook.

Our 12 year old son. He is the best cook in the house. He can make absolutely anything and everything is always so good.

DH and I are pretty much tied. We both cook equal amount of meals and we each have our specialties.

Dh was a better cook when we married. I learned a lot from him.

Then I became the cook, but he's still good. When I'm too sick or busy, he's right at home in the kitchen.

I do most of the cooking but My DH is a better cook he isn't afraid to add things and makes food taste wonderful, when I try to add things I mess it up. My 15yo DD loves to bake making bake goods for her lunch table the only thing is we aren't allowed to eat any of them.

Me...I absolutely love to cook. In fact, I wish I had gone to culinary school. My husband will cook things like egg burros and egg sandwiches if I'm sick or something.

I am the better cook, not that I have the ability to make gourmet fare, but poor DH could screw up cold cereal LOL, so needless to say, he's only allowed in the kitchen to eat! :)

Me definitely, I cook pretty much everything we eat. The only exceptions would be burgers( I can never get it med rare, I always overcook them) and eggs, I cant flip an egg to save my life.

DBF is a WAY better cook than I am. I am terrible.

Then again, he actually enjoys cooking and I hate it, so go figure. :vibes:

I'm the best indoor cook, hubby is the best outdoor cook. ;)

That said it drives me nuts when he does cook inside, has to follow a recipe to the letter & gets flustered when I ask him to substitute this or that. Baking is more of a science where you should follow the recipe. Basic cooking is using what you have & sub what you want while following a recipe. Change it to suit your tastes, or use up something you have in the fridge. And when in doubt add cheese & it's all good.;)

I'd say my dh cause he can just gather some things and whip them up and have a fabulous meal.....where I need a recipe and it seems like if I vary from it YUCK!

P.S. I have never liked to cook and my mother didn't cook when I was growing up to involve me in it (we ate out). My dd likes to "help" me in the kitchen so hopefully she will enjoy cooking. :tay:

We both cook. I do the bread baking and day to day cooking. He does those occasional recipies from Good Eats and follows them to the L E T T E R. I also let him do the grillin' and turkey fryin' ... 'cause I ain't no fool! He does the clean up. :D

We both can cook, have our specialties...though I have more experience trying new things. He can follow a recipe though. We both can bake. I just cook more often than he does. I do the standard 'southern' food I was raised w...along w some recipes I've picked up or learned from others through the years. Both of us had parents that felt it important that we were taught basic life skills(cooking, laundry, cleaning etc...)...both of our parents cook-though his father is very basic. His mother cooked from scratch alot. My mom worked alot and my dad was blind. So growing up we did a lot of simple or made from boxes...until we could read recipes and dad could explain them and 'supervise' us. Except cookies and such were from scratch. I really started to learn from scratch w my ex MIL and watching cooking shows.

my dh tried to make waffles one Mother's Day, we had to throw away the waffle maker...seriously, the thing was glued shut. He had to ask me how to boil water when we were first married. I don't let him in the kitchen.

Without a doubt dh is the better cook. We have been married just over 22 years and he has done 99% of the cooking. You name it, he can cook it. That reminds me...I need to check out the weight loss forum. All that good cooking has had an effect on me!

Dh was a kitchen manager in a resturant when I met him so he can cook. The problem with it is he can cook for 150 people but has trouble getting the food out for 4 people all at the same time. That being said the man can make an omlet like noone else I do the majority of the cooking so I would say I am the better cook but if I am sick dh will get in there and cook. Just hate to see the mess afterwards

It's not even a question in our house; I AM the better cook! I am the ONLY cook!

Before we married, hubby made me some chili. He forgot to put the meat in it, so I ate beans and tomato sauce. Now if he has to "cook", he splits a bagal and puts a cheese stick between the pieces. Breakfast? No problem. He has a bowl of cereal. That's pretty much his speciality. Oh well, I love him anyway........

exactly the same here. I will cause a forest fire if i cook outside, dh will if he cooks inside. :)

I have to say that we are both pretty good in the kitchen.
Dh actually enjoys cooking and makes just about anything.
He usually does the Christmas and most of the Thanksgiving
dinners to raves.

In the kitchen it's definitely me, although he does have certain things he's better at than I am. Like for instance he does a killer job deep frying fresh fish and baking salmon. I am also more adept on the gas grill for bbqing.

I am just glad that he is willing to cook, usually when he does it it because I am sick and I don't have to eat it. The kids like his cooking though. I think he just likes to make things I don't like because I am not eating that night. But I am definetly the better cook. I have been cooking since I was 9.
