Has anyone tried Oxyclean? The vinyl kitchen floor in my new house is horrible. It got to the point that I was on my hands and knees with a brillo and ajax-it looked better, but the stains are back-the commercials make it look like the answer, then I saw it at home depot and it's quite pricey. Stain removal is kinda a hobby for me at this point so I feel completely defeated by this floor. Thanks.

I buy mine at Wal Mart- it's $6.XX for a 3 lb tub of it. I use it in my laundry instead of bleach, since I have really hard water.

Is this a brand new house, or had someone else lived in it? If someone else lived in it, you may want to just try stripping it with a floor stripper (you can get that at home depot for about $20). You don't know what kind of wax and gunk build up is on it.

If this is a brand new house and the floor is just a pain to clean, I really don't know what to say. I have a brand new house, and I made sure to get a vinyl floor that had a smooth surface on it (who ever invented the vinyl floor with the little indents on it should be tortured by being the one who has to clean them). Go ahead and try the Oxyclean, I'm sure it won't hurt the floor (I just don't know it if it will come out cleaner) Good luck!!

I've tried the oxyclean and for the price I wasn't impressed. I haven't tried it on vinyl floors, but on carpet and in the laundry. I'm sure there has to be a cheaper and beter product out there for you.:)

There is a recipe to make your own oxyclean. If I see it again, I will repost it here.

Hi Kindred, that would be great. I buy mine at Menards, actually getting it free through my rebates from them. I love the stuff! Use it in my laundry all of the time.

Have you tried using vinegar and baking soda? Test an area by squirting a good bit of vinegar and then sprinkle some baking soda on it (the baking soda should fizz - if it doesn't it means the soda is old and it won't clean as well). Scrub the area with a stiff brush and then rinse and wipe clean. After you get it clean, you should be able to maintain it using vinegar and water when you mop.

I wish I could find it again, but it was the cemical make up of Oxiclean and it was washing soda. So if you have some of that prepare it like oxiclean and see it that works. It has for me for carpet stains
(I hate grape drinks!)

I use it in the laundry and I love it. I have used it to remove drink stains from my counter tops too and it worked well there too.

I like oxy clean. I have never used it on my vinyl, but have on my carpets, upholstery, drapes, laundry, sneakers/tennis shoes, toilets, and on and on and on. I love it. I need to remember to put it on my next shopping list, this thread remeinded me I am getting low on it again.:)

I use Ajax brand Oxy, it's about 1/2 the price and works the same....... Oxy cleaners are good for ORGANIC STAINS ONLY.....

Here's a recipe for HM

1/2 CUP HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
1/2 CUP BAKING SODA
1 CUP HOT WATER

I got a small container at WM for less than $2 after a $1 coupn. A little goes a long way, and it works great!
