Dh is soooo wanting a greenhouse. We've tossing this idea around for ages but still haven't done anything about it. I have to admit that I love the idea of vine ripe tomatoes all winter and spring so much that I'm caving in. I would love to know if anyone here has done it and what style, kit, etc.....? Anyone?

A number of years ago, in fact quite a few years ago we did. We built it with old windows and used materials. We built it too large though and it was in an area where we had some severe weather. It certainly helped, but wasn't as successful has we wished.

Where we live now, we haven't but a number of people have and they have much earlier gardens, although they don't have tomatoes all year long. They start all their veggies and plants in the greenhouse early in the spring.

In the town closest to us, there are some people that use their greenhouse all year long and grow tomatoes. They are the hottest items in any store in the surrounding area during the winter months. There is just something about purchasing fresh tomatoes that have been grown in a greenhouse during our winter months right here in Manitoba. They are expensive but well worth it!!

This is something I kep dreaming about. Out here I imagine it would grow most things all year with our moderate temps.
Right now I am looking for ways to save so I can get what I need for raised beds next spring!
then the year after i will think green house!

Maybe someday. This was our 1st year with our cold fame and it was a success. Maybe someday...:)
