View Full Version : Do you screen your calls?
Do you screen your calls or do you answer every one? If you screen, how do you do it?
I have caller ID and a phone answering machine. If I do not recognize the name or number on the caller ID, I let it the answering machine pick it up. It saves a lot of aggrevation that way with sales calls, or wrong numbers. Our phone seems to attract the wrong numbers for some reason.
Sara Noel 02-02-2002, 02:01 PM I used to screen my calls, but I don't have any extras on my phone anymore. We relocated last year and I can almost predict who's calling now. *LOL*
I just pick up the phone and if it's a telemarketer, I say please hold I have a call on the other line and then I hang up. *LOL*

scooby 02-02-2002, 03:48 PM lol Sara, yes I screen with caller ID but if I do answer it and it is a telemarketer I say you have the wrong # there is no one here by that name.

NativeMommyof2 02-04-2002, 11:17 PM I always look at the caller id.
If it is a phone number I don't know or private name (I hate when people do that) I don't pick up.
krazeeblonde1959 02-05-2002, 08:12 AM We use an answering machine. If it is a telemarketer, they will usually hang up once they hear the recording.
Katybird 05-29-2003, 06:43 PM I do screen my calls. I live in an area that we do not have caller ID, (we are just one step up from the 2 tin cans with a string in the middle system :D ) so I just let the answering machine pick up. I can decide then if I want to pick up the phone or not.
sixfreds 05-29-2003, 08:03 PM We have caller ID and I screen my calls....

cschontu 05-29-2003, 09:29 PM We are bad . . . we very rarely answer the phone. We figure if it's important enough, they can leave a message and we'll get back to them. Of course we usually leave the answering machine volume up so we can hear the message as they leave it and decide if we want to chat at that very moment. Works for us!
katiebug 05-29-2003, 09:46 PM Absolutely. Caller ID is worth every penny to me.
captclearance 05-29-2003, 11:17 PM Sometimes I do, if it's my day off, I don't answer for work....
MANDERS 05-29-2003, 11:47 PM Nope cause I don't have caller id or call waiting.I do on my cellphone though because if my home phone is busy people will call my cell phone,I quickly learned just to ignor them.
HandyMom 05-30-2003, 10:16 AM I screen most calls. I do have an answering machine but don't have caller ID because most of my family lives out out of the caller ID area to identify them and I don't want to run to look at the caller ID each time the phone rings. I have voice mail so that if I am on the phone or computer, it will allow a caller to leave a message and it's cheaper than paying for caller ID.
I have noticed that telemarketers are getting to be more aggressive and even leaving messages on my voicemail. I am glad I don't have to stop what I am doing to listen to them. and simply delete them from voice mail.
ReneeLynn 05-30-2003, 01:30 PM I'm too cheap to pay for caller ID. I answer all calls. If it is a telemarketer I tell them to remove me from their call list. After years of doing this I don't get many calls from them. Less than one a week. I do get a lot of wrong numbers. We are one number off of Days Inn hotel!
guest2 05-30-2003, 01:43 PM I let the answering machine screen my calls (on caller id there) if I don't feel like answering the phone.:toothy: I also have callwave on the computer and it takes messages for me.
