I'm trying to simplify and declutter my life, and I want to get rid of my wedding dress. I've found a wonderful place to donate my dress and veil where they'll auction it off for breast cancer research. Anyway, everyone I talk to thinks I'm crazy - like I should have sentimental reasons for keeping the dress. Dh and I have been married for almost 6 years, I don't plan on getting married again, have no daughter that I think would want to wear it, and really don't have sentimental feelings toward the dress. I mean really, I have pictures and memories, what's a dress in a box going to do for me?

What are your thoughts on this? I'm afraid to get rid of it and regret it!

If you don't have any attachment to it or think anyone else will...get rid of it. I didn't wear a wedding dress, but don't miss what I wore on my wedding day at all.

I'm the sentimental one and will keep mine forever....my dd's will probably haul it out the first thing when I'm gone...neither of them wants to wear it. If you're not feeling that way about it, do away with it. (This is gonna sound stupid but I almost want you to send it to me!:toothy: )

Do what makes you happy, but I sold mine on Ebay and got twice what I paid for it!

For me, it is important to save my dress. I didn't pay much for it, but I am sentimentally attached to it and the memories of our wedding day...I rarely wear dresses(never) so this was one time I felt like a princess...

But, listen to your insctinct. You have a great idea to donate it for breast cancer. That gesture in itself, is a sentimental value you will always remember.:heartsm:

*edited to add*--I wanted to say, that I lend my dress in my family for Christams, for when someone is the Snow Fairy, or once I lent it to a girl in my kids' school for a school play. In keeping my dress, I had decided to share it with others....:)
