I gave Ryan the following options:

She could clean her room
She could clean her room and I help, but she had to really do her part or
I could clean her room and had better not hear a word from her on what I tossed out.

She took the last one naturally. So I did clean her room and I threw out a big, black trash bag of junk packed as full as could be. Old broken toys, paper trash, magazines, just junk! I think I'll have to toss out a bag every time I clean from now on. She'll either decide that I'm throwing away too much of her stuff or she'll have to learn to clean it up herself. Funny thing is that she hasn't even noticed what I tossed out yet - that just shows it was trash!

Good for you Pat. Less clutter!
I don't think kids miss half the things they have.

Pat I've done that as well. And neither kid even missed what I threw out. Good for you for doing that, a whole lot less clutter.

I will be doing the same thing soon. I have to move my 3 yr old into 9yr olds room in about a month to get baby room ready. I have already ordered the bunkbeds so I need to figure out some good organizing after i do clean it or it will look like hurricane Andrew went through there..lol

good for you Pat! I did that quite a bit with ds when he was little and he turned out to be way more organized than dd who I didn't do that on as often. Now I wish I'd bitten the bullet with dd more often when she was younger, she might be less accustomed to a mess. sigh

you go girl!:D
