View Full Version : My future bedroom, pics
lacyj 03-04-2004, 09:26 PM Well this is the first room we're detailing on the new house...
We made the wood trim out of rough cut fir, cut locally, then run through the planer and riped on the table saw.
Yard Sale purchases were:
wallpaper, $1.50 a roll
ceiling fan $5.00
glass lamp shades $1.00 each
Closet louver doors (mahogany, painted light green, then striped) 4 for $10.00
quarter round trim, about 40 pieces $5.00
Oak parquet, two boxes $5.00, it will be the accent color
(Had to buy the rest at Home Depot, $.99 a piece, on sale)
Paint on sale $10.00 a gallon
The stuff still to be added:
Rugs, $10.00, yard sale
lace curtains, $5.00, yard sale.
The quilt for the bed, is one I bought 20 years ago, it's dated the year of my birth, 1956.
Me working on the trim:

The black dresser will be replaced with a love seat, whenever I , get around to recovering it.
We finished grouting the tile in the shower, yesterday. I don't have a waterheater yet so, can't try it out... Told DH , we'll just lay 150 feet of garden hose in the sun, and I'm ready to try it...ha
Will post, finished bathroom, later. Still have to put up the trim woods and door trim.

lacyj 05-10-2004, 10:19 PM The shower is tiled, now I need ideas for the cabinet above the shower. I was thinking punched, galvinized metal to allow air flow. Anyone tried this?
We picked up a water heater and now need install it, hole in the roof, hole in the floor etc. Maybe I'll be able to use it by saturday...yah

I need ideas to keep my pillows from slipping into the cracks of my headboard. I don't want to start making screw holes in the walls yet. I have two fat pillows that fit behind the headboard, but need to hang them, or suport them, someway, behind the head board.
(yep, we use alllllllllllllllll those pillows)

PrairieRose 05-11-2004, 09:06 AM It's all just beautiful Laci! And wow! You did it on a shoestring. I'm sooooo proud of you guys! I've never seen the punched galvanized tin for something like the doors you're talking about, but hey-you've done such a great job so far, I say go for it. I love your wall paper.....! WTG girl!
I have a headboard something like your's and we stand our pillows up and that keeps them from falling through. But your's may still fall through like that.
Jayne 05-11-2004, 09:32 AM Just beautiful Laci!!!!!!!! You should be so proud!!!!! All this from yard sales WOW!!!!!!...I am very impressed and inspired!!!!! WTG:thumb:
