View Full Version : 57 Sauce Beef Stew

1/2 cup thinly sliced celery
2 tablespoons shortening
2 cups water
Dash pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 medium-size potatoes cut into eighths
2 beef bouillon cubes
3 large carrots cut into 1-inch slices
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 medium-size onions, quartered
3 tablespoons Heinz 57 Sauce
1-1/2 pounds cubed boneless beef for stew

Sprinkle meat with salt, pepper and sugar. Brown well in shortening. Add water and bouillon cubes. Cover; simmer 1 hour or until meat is almost tender. Add 57 Sauce and remaining ingredients. Cover; simmer 1 hour or until vegetables are tender. Stew may be thickened with flour and water mixture, if desired.
Makes about 6 cups

3 Tsp. Olive oil
1.5 lb. ground round
1 clove garlic, chopped (much more suggested)
1 large onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
1 20 oz. can tomatoes, crushed and drained
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce (more suggested)
1 can shoepeg corn, drained
2 small cans mushrooms (and juice)
8-oz. egg noodles, cooked (use 3/4th of pkg.)
2 Tsp. Heinz 57 Sauce (much more suggested)
or use the newly available "John Boy and Billy Grillin' Sauce"

1 lb extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 small can chopped black olives

Brown meat in oil, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and/or other desired seasonings.
Add garlic, onion, and green pepper, cook for 15 minutes.
Add Heinz 57 sauce or JB&B sauce, Worcestershire sauce, corn, noodles, mushrooms, olives, and 1/2 of cheese.
Mix thoroughly. Place in 9x13 baking dish and place
in refrigerator to marinate overnight. (Important to marinate) Bring to room temp. and bake for approx. 1 hour in a 350 degree oven.
Five minutes before serving place remainder of cheese on top of casserole and allow to melt.

Note:
Any or all ingredients can be adjusted to suit your personal preferences.

Heinz 57 Meatloaf

This is an old recipe and it is from Heinz 57.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs (I use Italian bread crumbs)
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup Heinz 57 sauce
3/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Shape into a loaf (8"x4"x1 1/2") in shallow baking pan.
Bake in 350 oven for 1 hour.
Allow meat loaf to stand 5 minutes before slicing.

Serves 6
