View Full Version : My laundry room pics *** Last Update
Missy 04-08-2004, 01:05 PM sooooo embarassing. My laundry room has become a catch all room for everything dh brings home. especially Radio controlled cars, parts, and battery packs. Not to mention the shipping boxes we can't seem to part with. I am so embarassed to post this, but here goes. There are 4 pics
Missy 04-08-2004, 01:06 PM I think if i can get that shelf under control (it is over the w/d) it will be more than half the battle.
Katybird 04-08-2004, 01:08 PM You can do it Melissa! I bet once you jump in, it won't be bad at all. :)
Missy 04-08-2004, 01:08 PM next is the w/d . i seem to have to have all my soap and stuff right here...dh has taken over the rest of the room lol.
Missy 04-08-2004, 01:10 PM next... some shipping boxes and the boxes that hold the fixtures he was going to install. So far the boxes have been opened, lol.
Missy 04-08-2004, 01:12 PM Dh's rolling tool cabnit thing. On top some laundry supplies...
guest2 04-08-2004, 01:29 PM Missy,
Knowing you, you will have that laundry room whipped into shape and beautiful to boot!!!! :hug2:
Sara Noel 04-08-2004, 02:00 PM What a pretty laundry room. My laundry room is in the unfinished part of the basement and it's sooooo ugly.
simplemom 04-08-2004, 02:01 PM I wish I was there to help, Melissa. :heartsm: Debbie's right...I'm sure you'll find some super way to trnasform it! :) Tell me....I noticed in the pic with your washer and dryer...you have a pole with hangers....Have you installed this to dry some clothes?...I think it looks like a neat idea idea! I think I will ask Pierre to install one for me! :)

Mine too so you all won't be seeing pics of that! :D
Melissa, start in one area and just keep working. I know how insurmountable it may seem right now but you'll get through it. Look what my sewing room looked like before I cleaned it.
You can do it!! :yippee:
Missy 04-08-2004, 02:56 PM So far I am fighting with my trusty hack saw (dh took all the other tools with him) to change a finished board we have into a shelf, that will go over the w/d below the other one, for storing detergent, stain treaters, etc.
Lucie, it is a curtain rod, lightweight. I installed it about a year ago with cup hooks. I use it for drying Hannah's diaper covers and little shirts (that can't go into the dryer), DHs baseball caps, mittens, and for storing extra hangers. works great so far. :)
Hannah isn't ready to nap so I can't get in there like I would like to, but as soon as she does go to sleep....
Thanks everyone, I like the laundry room alot...when it is clean. But i can't stand it with the condition it is in right now. ;) And I don't like it's size. I'd like it bigger. So I can have a folding table, a ironing board, and some storage too.
AmyBoz 04-08-2004, 03:58 PM I can't wait ti see the after! I'd love to have a laundry ROOM!
Missy 04-08-2004, 04:30 PM good grief this board is denser than I thought. Almost done with cutting it into the pieces I will need. then i can get all my cleaners/detergents in one place. And that will make flinging easier I think. gotta give my arms a break from sawing. I learned something....never let DH leave with the spare saw blades. Dull blades make it VERY hard to use a hand held saw.
lucy979 04-08-2004, 04:44 PM You can do it, Melissa!! Can't wait to see the after pictures.
Missy 04-08-2004, 05:30 PM Alrighty, it only took about three hours to saw through the board, but I did it. ANd I found dh's drill, so if i can figure out how to change bits, i will be able to put up this shelf rather quickly! Woo hoo!!
i should be alright, after all, I have seen Dh's "owie dance", so if i get hurt, I know what to do,

How about the owie song? rofl Gabe has those lyrics if you need them. lol
Missy 04-08-2004, 06:15 PM LOL, i don't think i have heard the lyrics, DH sings them under his breath. But I know that you have to get your face red and scrunched up to do it. LOL
Here's the first update. I got the shelf in place, and the detergents are on it. I have to find a new place temporarily for the hangers. But I will worry about that in a little while. And I was able to clear off my w/d...and wipe them down even too!! YAY! Maybe I will be able to talk DH into some of those wire shelves? That would make a good place to fold laundry.......hmmmmmm.
Missy 04-08-2004, 06:17 PM that is not a bottle of honey on the shelf. I took a honey bottle and cleaned it out and put some dish detergent in it for scrubbing and pretreating. :)

You are one smart cookie Melissa! :D
You are doing great! :thumb: Everything looks wonderful!
BTW Jack's 'owie' dance and lyrics aren't printable or I would share!
Missy 04-08-2004, 07:07 PM Dh's "Spidey-sense" musta been tingling. He called to say he made it there safe and to see what I was up to. I told him, "Oh, just cleaning, doing laundry and cleaning the laundry room"
I think he sensed his tools were being used and his stuff was in jeopardy, LOL. For the moment they are ok, but in a little bit, after this break, they will be cleaned out! :D
Missy 04-08-2004, 09:14 PM I have begun flinging and will do a little more before I post a pic. Why does it look worse now than when I started??
Missy 04-08-2004, 10:55 PM Whew, two lawn and leaf bags from this upper shelf!
frugalmel 04-08-2004, 11:35 PM Lookin good! Want to come do mine next? ;) WTG!
i.m.cheap 04-08-2004, 11:58 PM Looking good, Melissa! I wish I had a "laundry room" I have a laundry "hole in the wall" but at least I don't have to climb stairs. We don't have a basement.
Darlene 04-09-2004, 06:57 AM You're doing great Melissa! Your the tool lady for sure! From knitting needles to power tools & everything in between, you can do it all!:thumb:
lucy979 04-09-2004, 07:17 AM That's looking great, Melissa!!
Michelle 04-09-2004, 07:59 AM Doing great, Melissa! :)

Great idea Melissa! :) And you did a great job!:thumb:
guest2 04-09-2004, 12:04 PM I'm impressed!!!!! You are doing great! BTW, my hubby has that dance and song down too! I've had to train the boys to leave the area when Daddy is mad because I don't want them hearing or repeating what is said.;)
Missy 04-09-2004, 12:08 PM Here's the last two pics. I had forgotten there was a floor under all that stuff! ;)
Missy 04-09-2004, 12:12 PM Ah-ha!! There's the ironing board! Well, that's it for my laundry room. Dh has said we might get the wire shelf I am asking for. If we do get it i will post another update once i get it in there.
AmyBoz 04-09-2004, 01:22 PM Wonderful! I'm so proud of you! That is quite an accomplishment!
SewCrafty 04-09-2004, 02:06 PM Beautiful job Melissa! :thumb:
Missy 04-09-2004, 03:09 PM Thanks everyone, I have been going back and fourth to this room, just to look at it clean, LOL
heavensent_7 04-09-2004, 04:02 PM Luckily I don't have a laundry room to mess up LOL (or I definately would! :( )
We have a washing machine in the kitchen under the work surfice, but DH tells me ours are MUCH smaller than yours (as is everything we own apparently  ) And we don't have a dryer at all.
Lots of people here DO have dryers, but a laundry room isn't the 'norm' here (unless you're rich ;) )
Still my point was going to be:
I think the embarrassment is probably MINE ~ I looked at all the pics and thought 'what's wrong with that?' - My front room looks worse than that on a normal day! :(
I really MUST buckle down, and start getting things sorted out, I kind of missed all these village 'missions' :( I don't know how?
I'm thinking our home has a LOT to do with why I don't have 'time' to slow down. (one of C.J.'s threads) I don't have time for family, God, or much else because ONE DAY I'm going to start my home and everything gets put off until then :(
You can do it Melissa! (and so MUST I)
Sorry for the life story!
Missy 04-09-2004, 04:19 PM :hugz: Bev, I have been wanting to get rid of lots of junk here in this house for a long time. I have been putting it off forever. I just don't want to part with stuff. But i am finding that the more i get rid of, the better I feel. So I feel better and have the time to be with the family, to persure spiritual endevours, and so on. :) I have a long way to go, but i figure my cluttered life begins here in the house. So I must start here in my home. :)
guest2 04-09-2004, 06:45 PM Great job!!!!! :hug2:
