Anyone have one?
Do you love it or is it waiting for your next garage sale?

I use it all the time. I don't have all the cannisters and marinading dishes that you can get with them but I do have canning jar attachment and I love it. I keep all my foods in the bags or jars. I use the rolls of bags instead of the individual bags, it is more cost efficient that way. I have also learned that the off brand bags that say they can be used with the Food Saver brand don't work near as well, they lose their vacuum quickly. If you have a chance to get one, I would say get it as fast as you can, it is a great investment. CatherineID 05-14-2004, 01:18 AM It depends on how you shop. It's very nice to have if you like to buy in bulk and repackage the items for the freezer. Keep in mind that vacuum packing won't make an item that needs to be refrigerated or frozen into a food that is shelf-stable. For instance, you can't vacuum pack cheese and leave it in the pantry instead of the refrigerator. If you like OAMC, a vacuum packer can be useful, too. Karla 05-14-2004, 01:24 AM I love mine...but there are some downsides as well, the bags are costly. Yes they can be washed unless used for meats. I've found that the seal sometimes easily breaks and I've had less breakage with the Black and Decker bags. Overall it could be a good investment, depending on how you shop and if you can buy bulk. |
