I want land. Lots and lots of land. I am not picky about the interior, but would like a finished basement and lots of storage space. Not a very fancy dreamer eh? *LOL*

Since I'm dreaming, I am not going to be practical or frugal:

-French doors
-huge deck overlooking a koi pond
-inground/indoor pool w/jacuzzi
-solarium
-gazebo
-double sink in bathroom so dh and I can get ready at the same time
-huge widescreen tv with surround sound
-state of the art kitchen with green marble countertops
-huge sewing/quilting/craft room
-a maid to clean all of this cool stuff!

I think that's it for now...I'm sure I'll think of more!

In the kithchen: an apron sink, a center island, a butler's pantry, lots of storage, appliances that blend into the cabinets, and a breakfast nook

In the master bath (although I want at least 3): a jacuzzi tub with separate shower, two sinks, and a built in heater

Throughout the house: a mudroom, a fireplace, lots of natural woodwork, and full size closets

and a front porch with columns.

I got most of what I wanted when we bought our house, on a small scale of course. I would like a larger kitchen, I love the European style kitchens-think Tuscany. We will be adding an addition to our house in 2 years which will put in the fireplace I want and we are currently finishing the attic for studio space. Dh promised me a juccuzi, so hopefully this summer we will get one for the yard, and when we build I will get my jacuzzi tub.

Dreams... a huge old house with lots of character but none of the inconveniences of old houses (drafts, poor insulation, roof falling on your head ...), a big kitchen with a walk - in pantry, six bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a hot tub, lots of land, great lake view (wait, this is a dream, right? my OWN lake :snork: ) and a home office with huge windows overlooking the lake.
And the whole thing would be self-cleaning, of course.

Realistic dreams (I'm in the process of building - designing at the moment- a home) : a fireplace, an attic bedroom, 3 bathrooms, a master suite with walk-in closets, underground garage, and a home office (but no lake to look at :( ).

I too would want my dream house on lots of land. I would like a big front porch, a sunroom, at least four bedrooms, And lots of storage. My dream house would also be a new Victorian. A house built to look old but, without the problems. A big brick fireplace would be wonderful. A big kitchen with a pantry would be fantastic! Lots of windows looking out over open land would be really special. Now if I just had the million dollars to pay for the place!!!

Well, I will list what I have and then what I want! FWIW, we have a 1901 farmhouse that has been added onto several times.

HAVE
3 bedrooms
1 unfinished attic room
1 full bath
1/2 bath
lvingroom/dining area
galley style kitchen
sun room with fireplace
laundry room
workshop/DH's office
play room/my office
family room with woodstove insert in firelplace #2
covered patio
large fenced back yard

WANT

TWO dryers (think how much faster we could get all the laundry done!--LOL)
a hot tub in the sun room (there was one in there but the previous owners took it out!)
to make the 1/2 bath into a larger full bath

SINCE WE'RE DREAMING

If we're still in this house when the kids leave home, I would like to gut the upstairs and turn it into a master suite/library for us. Like this is going to happen, but hey, we can all dream, right?

Since this is a "dream" house I want a house with character, at least 100 years old. I want it set on my own ranch at least 15 miles from the nearest town. I want 2 full stories with a finished attic space. I want 3 bedrooms, parlor, formal dining, kitchen with breakfast nook, family room, 2 1/2 baths, 3 fireplaces. I want a full wrap around porch, I want a balcony to sit on and drink coffee. I want an iron fence to enclose the yard. I want a windmill and a barn and a pond for DH to fish in. I guess that is a good start, LOL.

Hmmm I want a finished basement, an old (huge too ) house, lots of land in a wooded area with a stream, a large garage, a wrap around porch screened. A sunroom, mud room, hot tub, koy pond, nice garden, walk in pantry, large walk in closets, lots or rooms, a finished attic, a little detached mini house that serves as an office/ craft room type thing, large enough to have a 1/2 bath heated, with plenty room for all my crafts and large enough for crafty "parties" to be held in it too. What else?? Um fenced in play yard for the kids with a great play set to keep em active and having fun...i can go on and on, but I think i had better stop here.

Oh and hardwood floors!!!!!!!

Wow, lots of great ideas.
My dream home would include:
a koi pond
land with a view
four sides brick
antique 8" pine floors
a walk-in pantry with room for an upright freezer
10' smooth ceilings ( I hate the "popcorn" stuff I have now)
a humongous laundry room

sigh. . . .

Well I got my dream home, but didn't get lots and lots of land, enough though that it takes a lot of work to keep it up.

I am missing hardwood floors, a fireplace and lots of kitchen cupboards. But I did get my old Victorian home, at the price we wanted, with loads of windows, big wide baseboards and in a wonderful small town.

Now if I had lots of $$, I'd purchase another old farmhouse, on an acreage, with a big huge barn and lots of old buildings on the land.

This is a great thread for those of us who watch WAAAAY to much HGTV! ;)

DH and I are saving up to build our dream home, hopefully in about four years. We talk about our ideal home all the time... we'll have to cut this list down when we actually build it! :D

Here's how the dream version is in my head:
(It's a tri-level, BTW!)

--A huge kitchen, with a butcher-block island including a prep sink, with a breakfast nook, a walk-in pantry, and enough cabinets so that the counter tops can always be cleared off! Big wooden beams run the length of the ceiling throughout this space (to display my basket collection), and it's connected to a sunken family room with a fireplace. You walk out from the family room onto a huge deck/patio, which leads to our big pool in the backyard.

--A finished basement, which would be the TV room. This is DH's room:black leather furniture, Bengals football decor, big screen TV, and a bar. The stereo and video games are down here, too. Also probably an office area and a craft room for me.

--Upstairs, we have all the bedrooms and a laundry room- no carrying heavy baskets of clothes up and down the steps! Our master suite has a walk-in closet, and full bath, with a whirlpool tub and seperate stand-up shower.

--Back on the main floor, we've got one extra bedroom, which has a bathroom. For now, it would be a playroom or maybe a guest room, but we want it there if our parents eventually need to move in with us.

--We also want a four-car garage! Two & a half attached to the house for the cars we drive. Plus a two car garage in a seperate building for DH's '69 Camaro and all the other garage stuff, kids' bikes, etc.

This is all decorated and laid out in my head. I love primitive country stuff, and other than the basement, DH doesn't care. I don't think any of that is too crazy, just expensive. I'd love to be in the country, but not too far from town.

Well our home is almost perfect! We are working ot make it so!
We need to:
put a screen door on the front door and deck door
put in drop down sinks in the baths (where the sink is under where the counter top ifs)
Single old style farm sink, again with counter edges above sink for easier cleaning.
enlarge the deck
Put in the yard
Fence
a storm cellar
If I can convince dh we will alos add a grey water system and a wind generator!

I'm living in my dream home:) We have a raised ranch on an acre and a half, in a very friendly neighborhood....dh re did our family room, put down pergo floor, new drywall, paint and we put in the big screen tv and home theater....What I would like is a bigger master bedroom with its own bath with a bidett(sp?) ok a hiney washer:eek:.....and our kitchen is still in the 70's, so that would be nice re-done...also I want to finish ripping out the carpet and putting pergo in the rest of the house......but my biggest dream, is my own cottage in the back, so I can start my teddy bear buissness :smted:

I always wanted a spiral staircase
2 bathrooms {one with a dressing room}
vegetable garden
fruit trees
window boxes
rose garden
big porch with porch swing
swimming pool
fountain
fire place
When I was a little girl we lived in a tiny 2bdrm house that had 3 apple trees, 2 plum trees, 1 pear tree & grape vines & I can remember me & my mom sitting in our yard eating freshly picked apples from our tree. YUM! I really miss those days, it was the only house in the neighborhood to have all that delicious fruit :D

Well I am actually living in my own dream home, but I would like a jacuzzi for outside the bedroom, and a whirlpool bath in the bathroom. I just love the two dryer idea!!! I have thought of that many times actually.
Another bathroom would be wonderful, but most of all:

PEACE AND QUIET!!
