Sometimes we have to go into EXTREME SAVINGS MODE. :toothy: Oh and I mean extreme  I hope I never, ever have to give up my tp for newspaper.

Well, I've done some pretty extreme stuff.
I've eaten road kill-- saves on meat $$$
I've used dish towels to diaper a baby, and used the bread wrapper for plastic pants.
I eat "weeds"-- we forage for lots of stuff.
Hmm, I have a barrel full of rags I would use before I used newspaper. Just keep the wet in one bucket and thrown in another like diapers. But we are talking extreme here!!!!
There have been whole discussions on whether taking extra condiment packages at fast food restaurants is ethical. I buy condiments by the gallon and they arent that expensive. A gallon of ketchup(Hunts no less) is under $3, same with mustard.

Well I agree with a few of those #6,7*,9,11&12. *On #7 I do order water but don't make lemonade, lol.
The rest are either stupid ,nasty, gross or just plain wrong. Just my 2¢.:D

I didn't think they were too wacky. Some I have done (I pick up all change). I don't really eat out and don't like ketchup and mayo, so I wouldn't take the packets anyway. I'd eat roadkill if we found a freshly killed gator, LOL - I love gator nuggets.
Forget the newspaper instead of TP - I don't buy a paper!
I have dumpster dove for food, our extra freezer has come in very handy this way. I recycle cereal boxes (on the rare occasions I buy it) into magazine holders & boxes for Christmas presents. I reuse my shower curtain liners under the kids car seats and on my van floor to protect it from muddy feet., also under the kids' table when they paint or use Play Doh. And I take the magnets out of them and use them to make fridge magnets at Christmas.

Grrr! As a bartender and waitress, I'm shocked and a bit angry at suggestion #7.
When eating out, save on the expense of a soda by ordering a glass of water with lemon. Spice it up with a packet or two of sweetener, and it will taste like lemonade. No charge, no tax and no tip on that.
My place doesn't charge for water, lemon, or sweetener, that's true...so if you want water, get water. But avoiding getting a soda (1-2 dollars at most places) to avoid a tip is just rude. On the occasions DH and I do eat out (there are just two of us, no DD's or DS's for us yet) we tip on the quality of service we got, not our check price.
Most dining room waitstaff in most states get around 2 dollars an hour base pay ($2.13 to be exact here in AZ). That means after health insurance, taxes and social security, we don't get a paycheck. We live on tips. So anyone who suggests ways to avoid tipping just gets me steamed!
:fuming:
Sorry to vent, but grrrr!

Believe it or not, one TV program over here was interviewing a man who spent so much money on medication (That doctors had told him he didn't need) and he was eating canned dog food as he said he couldn't afford anything else!
Everyone thought it was just to get sympathy but he didn't get much, apart from anything else he could have got sausages, hamburger mince, etc a lot cheaper than the pet food!:D
