I used to entertain quite often, but since relocating I haven't done any entertaining at all. *LOL*
I am curious, when you entertain, are you frugal? Or do you tend to spend more for your guests? (outside of more spent perhaps on food)

Entertain? Bahahahaaaaaaaaa! I got caller ID so I could avoid any more socializing than necessary (bad. I know).
Entertain? No Way! lol!

LOL! We don't really entertain - everyone's schedules are just way too busy. We did have some friends over the night of ds's bday and we ordered pizza and had a cake. Other than that I guess the biggest entertaining we do is if family comes to visit us during the summer - we HAVE to eat at home and come up with interesting meals, otherwise they would be wanting us to go out to eat every single night they are here.

We entertain probably once every 5-6 weeks. It's generally a dinner party for 6-8 close friends, good china is out, nice wine, good food. Usually everyone brings something- a bottle of wine, a dessert etc. so I can get away with dinner as my real responsibility. We rotate between houses so it all is recipricated eventually. I do spend much more than if it was just us, but I don't mind, these people are worth it. Currently planning my largest party yet-housewarming-looking at 75 invitations going out-could =200 people.

I hear you. If I want to be entertained I will go to the circus. The circus would be less caotic than some of my family gatherings anyway.

Only on certain holidays really. It's due to not having as much money as other people as well as having totally different lifestyles. I don't have any friends (other than online) with kids, so the life priorities and habits are completely different.

We don't entertain often and when we do it is usually family. For some reason everyone wants to come to my house so that means I have to do the cooking and cleaning:(
I have gotten to the point where I make up excuses for why we won't be home, if they would help it would be different!!!

WE rarely entertain. This sunday we are having everyone over for an egg hunt.WE are frugal when we do it though. No one seems to complain and I figure the ones that don't come over are the ones that are scared of our frugality

We rarely entertained in the past..since Dh was always busy ..even on weekends. Now that we moved to Canada and we are close to family , I think we are going to be entertaining more, but till now we didn't because we don't have furniture. As bad as it may sound , but without entertaining we managed to save a lot on our grocery bill.
