View Full Version : New England?
gkp1031 07-09-2004, 11:40 PM I was curious to see how many of us are from New England? I know of a few, but was wondering how many of us are here. I'm from western Massachusetts. Maybe one of these days we could have a get together of all of us, somewhere centrally located for everyone--I think it would be fun!
Missy 07-09-2004, 11:43 PM Sigh, I am a misplaced Maine girl. Currently stuck out all by my lonesome in Colorado. Maybe if I can trick...er...convince Dh to move back east, I can join a get together .... someday.:smball:
gkp1031 07-09-2004, 11:47 PM We vacation in Maine every year--love it up there :) This year we are going to Sebago Lake, last year we were in Princeton, so relaxing and peaceful!
Missy 07-09-2004, 11:52 PM All my family lives in the greater Bangor area. I miss it terribly there.
gkp1031 07-10-2004, 07:19 AM It sure is beautiful up there. We were 2 hours east of Bangor last year on vacation.
Sailorslady 07-11-2004, 08:11 PM Well, I'm a Texan currently living in Maine. A year ago, if you'd have told me I would love living in Maine, I would have laughed you out of the room!
It is just so beautiful there! And I love the temperatures. Check back with me in the winter to see how I feel then though.
I still work for a company in Texas, so I go back there once a month. I'm also spending the summer there at my Dad's with my kids. I LOVE seeing my family, but seriously wish it was in Maine where it is so much cooler!
Missy 07-11-2004, 08:14 PM I am getting all homesick now, lol. Sigh.
gkp1031 07-11-2004, 10:29 PM Melani, where abouts in Maine are you? This year we are going up to Sebago Lake for vacation.
Sailorslady 07-12-2004, 09:37 AM Gina - we're in Topsham (right next to Brunswick - where the base is). It's a little more than an hour away from Sebago Lake.
We've driven over there and it is just gorgeous!
I won't be back in Maine until the second week in August. Right now, I'm back in Texas, sweating to death in all this heat! LOL.

Yes it is a small world! My parent love it there. When we were still in manchester, we were looking at buying a house in Franklin on 3A headed towards Hill, but someone put an offer on it the afternoon I looked at it. We also looked at some raw land and a house over by the hospital. You know those new houses that are pretty much on the Hill line? I had called about when they were just selling the land, but they wanted top dollar for them. I guess I wasn't meant to live there, LOL.
dmvezina 08-19-2004, 08:09 PM Just out of curiousity, what kind of house did you look at on 3A?
milach 08-20-2004, 05:17 PM It's on the right hand side as you're going towards Hill. It's an old NewEnglander, yellow with a one car garage (they just had the driveway paved not too long ago). It has an enclosed front porch, and I think they have a sail boat in the back and a wooden swing set. I'm not sure off the address, but it's a few miles up from Robert's market and all that stuff. I know that's not a help, huh? LOL
dmvezina 08-21-2004, 12:25 PM No, actually I think I know which house you're talking about.
I'm even further up on the left hand side coming from Robert's Market. I have a light blue ranch with a 2 car garage.
Wouldnt' it have been funny if you had looked at the same house?
milach 08-23-2004, 10:13 PM That would have! But atleast I would have known who bought it out from under me, LOL. That's OK, as they say, things happen for a reason.
But, we should have a central NH get together sometime, that would be cool!
dmvezina 08-24-2004, 12:37 PM That would be cool!
ilyvm2 08-24-2004, 03:52 PM I am in Nashua, NH
dmvezina 08-24-2004, 07:19 PM That's about an hour from me. Although I could probably do it in 45. LOL

Suezy 01-10-2005, 12:16 AM I grew up in Mass til I was 16 and visited family back there often - til now - no more more family left there:( I lived in Wabin, Wessley, Wibraham --but mostly springfield -- around 16 acres if any one knows where that is.
And oh my --sarahlyons --My 13 y/o grandson lives in Old Town , Maine ---actually Indian Island. Small world, heh?
I miss Friendly ice cream and the great corn beef we always got at Guss and Pauls and of course Maine lobster.
We vacationed at the cape (before my mom passed) a few years ago with my brothers --had a good time too.
Sher
gkp1031 01-10-2005, 09:23 AM Suezy--I'm one town away from Wilbraham, I go thru 16 acres all the time. Gus and Pauls, gotta love the corned beef sandwich with a dill pickle--yumm!! Now I have a taste for one of their sandwiches, I may have to stop there this week :) Friendly's--I love it too, I used to work in the office about 10 years ago. Gotta love their peanut butter cup sundae!! We vacation at the Cape too, in Hyannis, my parents have a cottage there.
Suezy 01-10-2005, 12:14 PM gkp --how funny --it is a small world. I was surprised how much 16 acres had changed since I grew up there (I'm 56) But I do love New England ---it's so pretty. Can't believe you know Gus and Pauls ---Last time my DH went there on business - he brought me some home on the plane ---you should have seen the looks he got from security. Too funny.

dmvezina 02-01-2005, 12:45 PM I don't remember the name of the street I lived on in Pembroke. I wish I could! lol
