Oh my,

This may seem like a small thing to some but in my world it's a BIG thing.:heartsm:

After taking care of my family for so long,(20 years, that's a long time!) I just applied for my first paying job.I've put an application in to work at our local grocery store.(20 or so min. away) I want to work in the produce dept. maybe.:D

I am quite anxious because I've been out of things for so long. I graduated HS back in 78, worked for 5 years as a senior nursing assistant then met my sweetie, had a family & raised them. I don't have lots of schooling, but lots of life skills. I may come across here in the Village as someone who is comfy in her boots but these boots are shaking a bit now. I've lived this nice safe little world I've made for myself for so long & it's a bit scary to put myself out there.

Tomorrow at 1pm est I've got an appointment to "discuss my application" and could use your "relax, be yourself, everything will be fine " thoughts.

Thanks friends!!!!!!:smooch:

Relax..... be yourself..... you'll do great. ;)

Don't forget that you have done many of the jobs in a grocery store at home for the last 20 years (stocking your pantry, checking for good/bad produce, cleaning up spills, managing money, serving up deli salads...). Of course there will be some training involved, but, you have the skills they will be looking for in an applicant. ;)

Good luck! :hug2:

:hugz: I'm really excited for you. I can't wait to hear some fun produce stories. You know...the tomato pinchers, melon thumpers, and grape testers. ;)

And this isn't a small thing at all. It's a very big thing. I have no idea when I'll be returning to the workforce, but it's a big thing.

Hoping you don't get too anxious. You'll do great. You've got the best personality.
:)

Darlene,
I would think after all those years of picking the best produce for your family, you may know a few tricks that even the store manager doesn't know!:D With your skills, upbeat attitude and winning smile they are going to see what an asset you would be to their company! :hugz: Now, go get um Lady!!!!:)

LOL Sara, I call most of my co-workers honey and dear. I do it without even thinking about it.

Darlene, you are going to do great. They will love you just like we love you. You are going to knock their socks off with your outgoing sweet personality. We will all be there with you just look to your left or right and you will see all your Village cheerleaders sitting right there on your shoulders cheering you on. I will be the loud one the right ;) .

You are going to do great Darlene. :) I used to work in the produce dept during the summer in highschool. It was fun and I learned alot about fruits and veggies.

A sfar as the job goes, if you can lift up to 50 lbs you should do fine. Some of the stuff comes in heavy boxes and bags. My favoite part was talking to the people when they were shopping. :) something about squeezing a tomato makes people talk ;)LOL
