What do women wear on interviews these days? I'm talking about interviewing for an office job. I am sending my resume to a few, and I want to make sure I have something to wear if they call.
I haven't interviewed for a job in 10 yrs, and when I did, business casual wasn't prevalent then. I used to wear business suits to interviews. Now I'm curious what women wear when business casual is so common.

Michelle,
My former company relocated to Chicago about 2 years ago and when they did they offered a career planning workshop for all those not relocating with the company. The consultant who worked with us suggested that you should be as formal as possible, regardless of the job or the working environment. Meaning even if khakhis are common in a particular workplace, you should put on a business suit (or other dressy attire) for the interview.

Thanks Heather :) I don't have an interview yet, but I want to make sure I'm prepared for when I do.

I've interviewed people several times in the last nine years for a job (activity assistant) in a nursing home, and most of them wore dresses or nice pants outfits. Then again, that IS more dressy than the job they were interviewing for-- on the job we wear kahki-type pants or casual dresses (like denium). I remember talk of one lady at another facility who showed up for an activity assistant interview in stiletto heels and an expensive suit-- that actually was a strike against her, because the interviewers didn't think she had a clue about the work environment. I guess it depends on what sort of business you're looking at. I like Wendy's advice-- basically, be slightly more dressy than the usual attire for the workplace.
Good luck!
