Those are all really great tips.

At my parents' house, we used to put the plastic window kits on in late fall on all the windows we could to prevent warm air from leaving and cool air from getting in.

At our new house, my boyfriend and I have propane instead of natural gas. It is sooo much cheaper than natural gas. We have only spent about $500 so far and we've been in the house for six months. At his old apartment, my boyfriend spent around $400 per month on gas. We'll save a boatload there.

Ceiling fans are great to use in the winter as well as the summer. Just make sure you reverse the direction of the fan. It will help the warm air to circulate throughout the room (warm air rises) and push it down to the floor. Your heat shouldn't kick on as much then.

We have natural gas in our apt and our gas bill is about $30. Where I live, natural gas is way cheaper than propane (we used to have propane where we used to live and it was $135/month! :surprise:

What an excellent reminder for this coming winter. Our electricity bill drops by half in the summer, so sometimes it's easy to be shocked when we get the first bill for winter heating!! I think we'll try and be more prepared this year. Thanks. :smball:
