I take a back country road to get Ryan to school and there is a house on the road that sells produce in their front yard. I finally stopped yesterday and was so glad I did.
They have these tiny icebox watermelons and tomatoes just sitting there on some tables under a canopy. There is a scale to weigh the tomatoes and an old mail box that you just put your money in. Just sitting there right off the road in their yard. The sign says it's the honor system - you leave the money for what you take. He had prices posted on a piece of paper. I guess I looked confused because a man came out of the house and asked if I needed help. I didn't have change of course! He made change for me and told me that if the watermelon wasn't good, to just stop back by and he'd give me another one. I weighed the tomatoes and he said, put in a few more and I won't charge you cause one of them could have a bad spot or something and I want you to get your money's worth. The watermelon was $3 and it was so yummy. The tomatoes were $1 a lb. and they were perfect on my salad last night. He grows the produce in his back yard.
I was thrilled with his kindness and honesty. I think it's great that he can trust people like that. I'll be stopping often.
