Well, this will be the first time I've worked as an RN outside the hospital.  Tomorrow morning is my first case as a home health nurse.  I'm pretty nervous about being in a new environment.  I quit a fairly good paying job at the hospital because I was miserable there.  I'm just praying that I enjoy it.  I am making a lot less money and working less.  I made a decision to make a sacrifice in money to have gains in happiness.  Wish me luck, as I'm a bundle of nerves...LOL. :puck:

Update:  I went, and it was not bad at all.  I like this atmosphere.  It was an admission that I did, so I will make a little more than a regular visit.  I will go back tonight to see if the mom remembers what I taught her.  That'll be another paid visit.  Then tomorrow morning I have to go back to draw labwork, and drive it to the hospital.  That's another paid visit.  I'll be going to their house now twice a week for the next six weeks.  The family is nice, and I feel more at ease now.  Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement :hugz:

Heather I wish you the best of luck on your new job. I know it's scary but sounds like you have really thought it through.

I worked as an aid for Home Health for about 2 months. It was very rewarding.

Try not to be too nervous. You are competent and know what you're doing. Like you said, it's just a different setting. Try to have fun.:D

Heather, I'm considering making exactly the same transition myself - I work in a small hospital that has recently been taken over by a big health care system, and all of the bureaucracy and lack of personal consideration for staff/patients that they are infamous for is gradually being transitioned in :( . Glad to hear it's going so well for you, keep up the good work!!

Heather good luck with the job. I have nothing but respect for the HHNurses that have to deal with me :toothy: When they have to do my IV or bloodwork I almost always come close to passing out, so I warn them in advance.
