Hi All,
I'm home on my lunch break and just had to share about my first Preschool Story Hour. It went so well! Our theme was ducks and Chris came down with me to be my "helper" with the games. I made the poor 15 year old act like a mamma duck, quacking and all to find his chicks. The kids loved it and taking turns being the Mamma. I then read them a story about a baby duck who hated the rain (it was raining today so it "fit" perfectly). After that I shared my favorite childhood book "Make Way For Ducklings" and showed the kids that I still had my original copy that I was given when I was 4 years old. It had also been my mother's favorite book when she was a kid and I asked all the kids to ask their Mom's, Dad's and grandparents or special older people in their lives what their favorite childhood books were. We are going to make a list of those books and see which ones we can find to share for story hour. After that we worked on a duck maze, colored, played with puzzles and then checked out books. The moms there said this was the biggest turnout they had ever seen for story hour (and one of the big families was missing today) and that they thought it went really well. :yippee:
I'm so excited!!!!! :hugz: to my son Chris who will do anything to help his old Mom out! ;)
