So, as you may remember, I left my former school district (where I've been for the past 9 years) and got a job at a new school here in my town. It's actually the middle school that I graduated from! I left because this school is 2 minutes from home as opposed to 30 and I was looking for a more diverse population. Well, not only did I get the job, but I also was made team leader, which means that for unit 8-1, I run all the meetings, am the head disciplinarian, am the liason between the teachers and administration, etc.
So, school started on the 9th and so far so good! The teachers have all been very nice, the kids are great and I'm loving the diverse population. It's so nice to have a class full of kids from all different walks of life with all different viewpoints on certain issues. It makes Social Studies so much more interesting when we can really debate and discuss. Also, after having been on maternity leave since February, the paychecks are wonderful!
The kids are loving where they are. Julia fits right in at Nursery School and is thriving. Patrick is safe and happy at the woman's house who watches him.
I'm totally exhausted by the end of the day, but it's a good exhausted. I've been rejuvenated in my teaching and am really enjoying creating brand new lessons for brand new kids. Not to quote jailbird Martha Stewart, but it's a good thing!
