I found an old dresser on the curbside,(free) it has a big round frame on the back where the mirror once was. I gave it a bath and left it rustic, I added a heavy coat of polyurethane. (This is for outdoors) It is now my new potters bench in the garden... I cut 2 circles in the top, added 2 potted ivies and I will let them grow up the empty mirror frame. The drawers are used for gloves, tools, fertilizers, ect... The legs sit on little brick squares I make to keep it from sinking in the dirt and rotting... This is one of the best trash to treasure projects I've done yet !! Looks great !:D

Wow, I love this idea! My dh and I are big into gardening, and this is just the thing that would keep it all neat and presentable outside. I would love to see a picture of it too if you can post one :)

You sure can't beat FREE, can you? Great idea for the dresser!

Another use for old dressers is to take out the drawers (for another use) and convert the dresser into a bookcase or shelf unit. I've seen this done on DIY and other craft programs and it looks very nice when finished.

I've seen dresser drawers used on the walls when placed with the bottomside against the wall and a few shelves added to the insides and some thin moulding attached to the edges to help frame it.
