View Full Version : Job interviews today and tomorrow
dz_blonde_girl 10-12-2004, 09:04 AM Today I get to drive all the way to Jackson for an interview at the hospital. They own nearly all of the healthcare facilities in the area. Wednesday I have an interview for a full-time home health RN in a town 4 miles away. That's the job I want. I told the lady this was the job I'd continue searching for even if I found something else to start. She wanted to confirm that I knew what I was getting in to, lol. So wish me luck, say a prayer, or aim some good thingies my way!

dz_blonde_girl 10-13-2004, 09:18 AM Wow! I can't beleive what they pay RNs down here! Lots more than where I'm from. They sent me from Jackson to Milan which is only about 20 miles from my house. When I pulled up to the hospital it totally reminded me of one of the small hospitals back in Iowa. They have a 5-room ER, 3-room CCU, 12 or 15 bed skilled Unit, 25-bed Med-Surg and a Surgical area. I was offered a full-time 7a-7p position that would eventually move around to all the units. I met several of the staff and everyone was great. (I haven't been the "new kid" for a very long time and it makes me nervous) The every third weekend would be tough to find a sitter though. They don't pay the $18.75 I was making at my last job, but it's a lot closer to that than the $12 you get offered in Iowa!
I'm off to Home Health this morning, hoping they pay as well and knowing I won't have to stress the weekends so much. I think I might like this better and it's closer to hime. They really are hurting for Rns down here.
Darlene 10-13-2004, 09:45 AM Be thinking of you today too! Come'on HH!
Telephus44 10-14-2004, 08:54 PM Praying that this interview goes even better than your other one!!
gkp1031 10-16-2004, 03:54 PM good luck Karen!
Goodwin17 10-17-2004, 01:50 AM Karen, I really hope that things turn out good for you. Wow, they didn't pay much at all in Iowa did they. The cheapest I know of RNs getting paid in Alabama is about $14. It's hard being the "new kid on the block", but it won't be took long before you're feeling comfortable and fall into a routine. Let us know how things go.
bamamomto4 10-17-2004, 03:00 AM Isn't $14 low? Dh worked with a guy and his wife makes over $20 an hour working at Baptist Montclair in Birmingham... Not sure how long she's been there though. I think she works the 7 on 7 off...
Anyways--GOOD LUCK!!!
