I need help on Decorating our Home in Country Decor Frugally!!
My DH and I love the Look of Country and we want to decorate our Home in a Country Decor Look!! We are on a really tight budget and we would like some helpful advice and tips if you all have any on Decorating Frugally with Country Decor!!

The colors of our home are White Walls in all of the room except the Kitchen , The Master Bath and, The Bathroom in those rooms the walls have wallpaper with mediumblue,some medium rose colors, and some medium green colors as well in all the wallpaper(The Background on the Wallpaper is White)!!Our Carpet is medium green in all the bedrooms!! In the Kitchen, Laundry room,Master Bedroom Closet, Master Bathroom, & Bathroom has White linoliem with medium green squares in the pattern of the floor!! What style of country? The country style we would use we have not really decided yet !! We are kinda of leaning more towards folk, americanna, and english !! We have not really found the perfect style for us we are just working around what we have and then we will see what we like and seems to look good in our home!! Thank you for all of your help!! :)

Thanks for the sites! My entire home is country decor also. I just love to scour the yard sales, flea markets and antique shoppes for decor and great bargins. I go to the local library and check out their books and magazines on country decor also. Shoot, I love to look at those pictures of homes with such great ideas!

I have a 4-seasons country look in my living room. It all started with a free calandar I got from somewhere online. I chose 4 season pics from it and put them in dollar store frames. The rest of the stuff came from garage sales.

CountryBumpkin you should post some pics of your home it is beautiful and truley inspiration for country decor. I love Country Style though I do not like Mary Emerling yak she is soooooo mundane when she talks. Don't forget HGTV has a website that you could look up ideas. I also LOVE to go to Estate Auctions and I would say that 85 percent of my home is decorated with such. These little old ladies that pass away have such great antiques, I have had to pay good money for somethings that I was determined to have (lol) and have gotten away with some absolute steals (got a 12 gal crock with just an age crack for 10.00-salt crock for 5.00, crock bowls 6.00-9.00) anyway you can get just about anything and everything under the sun at estate auctions for the Most, but not all of the time cheaper than flea markets, ebay and definately most of the time antique shops.
If you watch Country with Style you are already pretty much ahead of the game.
My best advice to you would be pick a picture from a magizine that you like and do like they do on the Shabby Chic show find what you can that is just like what there is and sub the rest. Don't forget there is no rules, buy what you like, proper display is the key to making it all pull together.

My kitchen and my living room are downstairs and both are decorated country style. My living room is the Americana theme :july: (before 9/11) and my kitchen is Apples. :apple: I just started out slow and bought what I could when I could. I've gotten both rooms where I want them now (except for really organizing the kitchen again) and it's been 5 years in the making. We moved once during that time too. So of course the great apple curtains a girlfriend sewed for me didn't fit the new house. :( So that was a tiny setback. The sites that were posted are wonderful. I'll have to go take a look myself. :)

I agree with the "pick a theme" advice. For our kitchen, we started off with a cow theme. I just add to it as money allows and as stuff goes on clearance and kitchen stores go out of business. I have a cow kettle, cookie jar, spoon rest, salt and pepper shakers, cow clock that moos on the hour, scrubby sponge holder, trivets etc. I used to have an awesome canister set- one canister was a cow, another a pig, another a rooster. But unfortunately, when we put everything into storage to move in with my parents, the canister set cracked beyond repair. BooHoo!!! It's amazing what people have to give you to add to your theme. MIL has given us a couple metal milk jugs (I think they had lollipops in them at one time) with cows. A friend gave us a cow shaped flower pot that his wife absolutely hated. I just love the country kitchen look. It's amazing what a few little pieces adds to a room.

another idea would be to paint some of your old furniture, or to buy furniture from a thrift shop and paint it in one of the colors from your decor, use a crackle meduim, or sandpaper as well on it, to get the old country feel. You could even do some stencils on it as well.
Were planning on moving in a few months and i am doing the whole kitchen and living room in country victorian. We have a ton of old wood furniture, and i just can't wait to get my hands on some paint.
