Things have gotten incredibly "real" here over the past few days. Our adoption classes are over, our final home inspection is in two weeks and I have begun bringing little baby things into the house. After work I drove 1/2 way across the state to pick up some borrowed baby things-playpen, highchair, changing table etc and half way home I am in tears! I am not a weepy. crying type of woman, and I have complete faith in my mommy skills-I worked with HIV babies for a long time, but I lost it! Maybe its just all the change going on--I don't know-did this happen to any of you? It can't be hormones-I'm not pregnant.

awww that's so sweet. I don't think you need to have pregnancy hormones to feel the joy of mommyhood. I think after all adoptive families go through to get their little ones home, it's any wonder how you don't fall into tears all of the time. It's such a beautiful thing.
My husband translates dossiers for Haitian adoptions and whenever I talk with the adoptive families, they aren't much different then any other expectant moms.
Good Luck with your home study. I am sure you'll do great.
Do you have details on your little one? I know you mentioned it was through foster to adopt program.

Thanks guys--No details yet on what type of placement-just 2 years or younger. I set up a big part of the nursery this week, my mom is quilting and I picked a pattern for some of my accesories, trying to keep it simple. Picking up the crib on monday and my final inspection is the last week of may. Had to attend a big baby shower on Sat and going to a christening this coming Sun. I'm in baby overload!

I'm late on this one but how is everything going now? When was the adoption to take place?

Inspection went well-now cleared for state licensing so could have a baby by the end of summer. Nursery is set up-even sheets on the crib. Just waiting and waiting now.
I saw the previews for the hallmark special, but I don't get the channel.
