Does your work place have up holiday decorations and did you have to put them up?

I work for an architect/engineer office and it's in an old house in a section that has seen better days. We can't put decorations outside or they'd be gone by morning. The inside space is small when you first come in (where my desk is) and the guys couldn't possibly care any less if it's decorated. Unless of course, there is food involved in the decorations. I do decorate my desk with garland, shelf stocking holders and stockings and a few bows. Nothing much, no tree and the worst part is it's the same junk every year. I intend on buying me new decorations for work at after Christmas sales. Yep I'll have to pay for them myself as the office doesn't consider them necessary. Bah Humbug

How about where you work?

We do-- but the regulations are so ridiculous it makes it almost impossible:

No items that even look like food-- so no candy canes.

No metalic or natural ornaments - basically can only have plastic ones.

No cords longer than 3 foot-

No decorations hanging from the ceiling- so no snowflakes, etc.

Must have 3 foot clearance all around the tree (uhm. . . WHERE in the world do we have a space that will allow 3 foot clearance ALL around a tree).

And yes, the staff is required to put up the decorations-- Bah Humbug!

Oh, what we've done that meets the qualifications--- we hang a huge wreath on the wall (aritifical of course) and hang small ornaments from that)

We hang artificial garland and lights on the front desk- and have small stockings for each staff member. Over 70 of us!

I'm the Activity Director in a nursing home... does that answer your question? ;)   It's part of my job to do the seasonal decorating.

We put up eight, yes eight, trees every year. This year all the other departments got involved for the first time in ages, and there's a competition between hallways/departments to see who wins the "best decorated" vote. This is the first time in ten year that my staff (of two!) hasn't done almost everything in the facility ourselves.

In theory, the facility pays for things. In reality, I wind up spending my own money every year-- anywhere from $20 to $100+ (back when we were DINKs!) out of pocket.
